Awful service, terrible oily and flavorless food. Doughy noodles. All and all a major disappointment! I won't go back until they improve. By the way add some veg to your dishes for goodness sake. read more

Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles - The picture is missing the dumplings. They were so delicious and disappeared from the table quickly. - Chinese Near Me - Matthews, North Carolina

Best. Chinese. In. Charlotte! Coming here since it first opened and it never disappointed. Their chili oil noodle dishes start as a ball of dough upon order, we see the chef hand streching it until it becomes a noodle. Make sure you ask for since it's really one long, long noodle stretched from the ball of dough:) The eggplants are cooked and seasoned to perftion, we get ours with extra garlic. And actually one of our favorite dishes is the shrimp hot pot with (I've never had it in a Chinese before) the best freshly made potato chips!!!! Yes you read that right! Imagine. Shrimp (best shrimp in town, I kid you not) with potato chips, hot sauce ,some cabbage, and seasoning. Our other favorite dish is the hot fish soup with pickled cabbage, the only way I eat pickled cabbage because, we'll, you'll have to taste it to believe how good it is! Our only regret every time we go we say "ok, let's order these 3 dishes and we take home the leftovers, but, there's usually no leftovers:) Service and prices match the awesomeness of the food too! read more

My parents and grandparents went last night and ordered dumplings - my mom took one bite and immediately knew something was wrong. She cut open the dumpling and the meat was still raw sent it back immediately and had food poisoning that night. We have been to Lanzhou many times but will have to seriously reconsider coming back - not worth risking our health. read more

The entire staff was very nice. The food was spectacular. Very clean and organized in the dining area and open kitchen. read more

Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles - Chinese Near Me - Matthews, North Carolina

There was a review about the wait/line being haphazard - I think they have tried improving since then- they take a phone number as you walk in (if they don't, and it's busy you should ask where to get in line for the wait list and someone will take your number) noodle soups are a solid I like that the meats are tender and not dry, the broth not too salty. I've added photos of some dishes that weren't on here when I checked yelp just in case someone might want to check it out. The pork "hamburger" was better than expected - the pork is shredded and not dry - very flavorful (5spice-y) the waitress said that the bread is made at the restaurant and it does taste that way- comes piping hot. The Beijing zhaziamien was solid as well- with enough ground pork and soybean sauce and cucumber I had mine with wide noodles- both dishes went VERY well with their chilli oil/garlic crisp sauce. read more

Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles - Hours of Operation - Chinese Near Me - Matthews, North Carolina

No ambiance, overpriced food, and terrible service. We ordered the hand-pulled noodles with chicken for $22 and the spicy fish in oil, which was okay. The waitress was mopping the floor while we were still eating, which was very unpleasant. The place also didn't feel clean at all. read more

I couldn't wait to get these hand pulled noodles -- but i am sad to say they were not so great . Texture was good but the sauce was very small on one side and nothing for the rest of the noodles. It was 14.99 and I felt like it should had more sauce. We also got the Dumplings and they felt uncooked .. sad because I felt like they were going to be great ! read more

Walked in on a Saturday around 7:30pm, was instantly greeted. Food was so so good. Spicy beef noddle soup had so much flavor and spicy, beef was so tender and melted in mouth. The chili oil noodles were my favorite, so savory. Also had the pork dumplings pan fried, SO big and full of flavor. 10/10. Employees were really nice, interior is small but comfy. read more

Good food, but the staff is rude and somewhat racist the service could be better and less pushy.

Excellent authentic food! Wonderful addition to Matthews. We will be visiting often. The hand pulled noodles, the garlic sauce and the wok fried fish are amazing! read more

First let me state, we never made it into the building. That is not an issue because we were aware that this may happen. Plus, this is a SURE sign the food is excellent Issue: crowd control. We were 8th in line so I am not as annoyed as person in front of line. A group of 4 walked up and thru line, with intention. We all assumed they were getting pick up. They marched in and sat at a table that a family was beginning to leave. Staff saw this and did nothing. Actually gave them menus instead of doing the right thing and sending them to end of line. The group was contacted by the people at the table. When the group showed the people at table got up. That is when we left. read more

In my opinion, these are the best Chinese noodles in Charlotte. Fried rice and orange chicken were excellent as well. Good service.

Food was good, but service was a little off. Orange chicken and pork fried rice was really good. Braised beef noodle soup was good except beef was very fatty and not a lot of beef. Service was not great for us. We sat for a long time after we had finished waiting for boxes and for them to come back for the check. read more

I saw this place on TikTok and met a friend there to try it a couple weeks ago. I had the chili oil noodles, and OMG. The spice is probably a 6 or 7 out of 10, and the flavor is just incredible. That coupled with the wide, handmade noodles with the best texture makes this dish SO delicious. I have since been back twice, both times again ordering the chili oil noodles and they have slapped every time. The portion size is generous too. This is very much a hole in the wall, so don't go expecting ambiance or anything fancy. Go enjoy some amazing food, or get it to go. Employees are very friendly as well! read more

Probably the most authentic Chinese regional eatery in the area. Well prepared and tasty. But seating is limited. There is also some outside seating. read more

Amazing food! Everything was great! Best hand pulled noodles I've had! Small space, and you can see the chefs making each order from scratch

We love this place! We had hand-pulled noodles soups, stir fried shaved noodles, taro bubble tea, & coconut balls for an appetizer. Our server was exceptionally helpful as we asked him a million questions! We stood up by the kitchen & watch the noodles being pulled too. Very friendly & attentive service. read more

Went here for the first time. Food was terrific The hand pulled noodles were great. The dumplings were great. Service was excellent. Cannot recommend enough. We will definitely be back read more

Unique to Charlotte. Hand pulled noodle soups are more LA and NY. Glad that they are coming here. Try the beef noodle soup to start and finish with some sesame balls. The AC needs to be a little stronger since the kitchen is open air so come either early or later in day. read more

The spicy noodle was so goooood!!!! I was so impressed with the noodles. Absolutely, I would love to visit again!!!

Best Chinese food dining experience I've ever had!!! Service was incredible they were so kind and FAST. food FANTASTIC I had the chili noodles + pork and it will now forever be my comfort takeout order. Steamed pork dumplings + chili oil was the most delicious pillows of heaven. So happy to have this business in Matthews! read more

OMG!! The food is phenominal and the wait staff is amazing. I serioulsy cannot say enough good things about this place.

Food was authentic, fresh, tasty and hot. They will adjust "heat" on all dishes. The chili oil noodle bowl is OVER the top!!! General Tso' chicken is the best I've had in Clt. The dumplings, amazing.. V good service. 60% of the Sunday afternoon crowd were Asian... great testament. read more

I can't believe I'm saying this about such an inauspicious-looking place. But possibly the yummiest Chinese in this city. So clearly cooked with love and care. Braised Beef Noodle soup and a side of smashed cucumbers. Yum. read more

It's so delicious - truly the best Asian food I've ever had. There is a good reason the line was out the door with people anxiously waiting in the rain. They need another star on this app for places like this. read more

Recommend the chili oil noodles! Great flavor and fresh food! My kids loved figuring out how to eat the long noodles with chop sticks.

My two companions got the chili oil noodles (one asked for milder than the usual, which was not that hot) and shared some with me. Next time I need my own bowl all for myself! Delicious flavor and the chew of the loooong wide, flat noodles was incredible! I don't know if I've had any this good yet in NYC or SF area? I also think the stir-fried green beans were the best I've ever had - blistered tender yet still firm and so tasty without some overwhelming goopy sauce. My main was the beef noodle soup, which would be lovely comfort food on a cold day. Broth had nice deep flavor with star anise and meat slices so tender. Noodles were good, but thinner and less al dente than the chili oil ones. Definitely have to eat here again! read more

Food was good, however the service was not. I ordered dumplings for the table and someone else ordered sesame balls. After perusing the menu we ordered our main dishes. Those arrived but still no dumplings or sesame balls. I asked about the dumplings which should have been served before the main dishes. A waiter tells me they are out of dumplings. Our original server was not aware but when she placed the order no one in the kitchen told her. The other waiter asked if I wanted something else. I chose the Buns which were terrible and I sent them back. The sesame balls had still not been served. When the waiter checked he said they had forgotten. He re-ordered them and they arrived after we had finished the main dishes. There is clearly a communication problem. read more

This was our first visit to Lanzhou. Very friendly and helpful service, and plenty of comfortable seating, so we decided to dine in. I had the braised beef noodle soup, which was delicious (tho I am not a fan of cilantro), I had plain iced black tea, which was excellent. My wife was intrigued by the ShanXi chili oil noodles, which she enjoyed, and the boba milk tea, which she did not. (it seemed well made, but was not a drink she would order again, anywhere) The server suggested that we add some of he tableside chili oil if we wanted more spice. We both did, and this was a good way to do it. Overall it was a pleasant and interesting experience, and we will return. read more

Absolutely fresh and delicious! I had and loved the spicy beef noodle soup and the boiled dumplings, but I get the sense that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I feel very lucky to have this place in town. read more

The noodles here are excellent. We had a ramen soup dish with noodles and beef and a noodles and beef stir fry type dish. Both were excellent. Great taste and served fresh and hot. The egg rolls were fantastic as well. Great service as well. Will definitely return and try other dishes in this authentic Chinese restaurant. read more

I got takeout and was exactly what I was hoping for. The spicy beef soup had great flavor and I loved the noodles. Staff was also very welcoming although my interaction was brief. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. read more

Great new food spot !! The food is made fresh on the spot. No frozen or processed foods makes for fresh and delicious Chinese food!

Food was 10/10... noodles were fresh and broth was so tasty! They also served one of the best shrimp fried rice we have had! My daughter has a shellfish, peanut and egg allergy..the restaurant staff was so patient with me when calling to if a dish had any of these ingredients. They also called to confirm allergen once we placed the order (which I appreciate). Thank you so much! We will definitely be back :) read more

Great handmade noodles, mapo tofu, and eggplant with chili sauce. I moved from NYC area 6 months ago, and this place is close to the quality of Flushing Queens Chinatown. Based on a couple of other comments, I just want to say, when we went a couple days ago, there was no air conditioning. I don't know if the AC is broken, or if they're just trying to save money. Regarding the service, it is fast and efficient, and it is Chinese, with a "matter of fact" attitude. It is not anywhere near the friendly welcoming service of the American south. This is a cultural difference. These guys are not Americans just with a Chinese face, these guys are from China, where it is considered rude to be friendly in the American style, so please don't be offended if they are standoffish, it's just how they were raised to behave in China. Treat your visit to this restaurant like a field trip to China! read more

Very disappointed, the beef noodle is very thicker and not cooked enough. The soup just tastes like water besides the AC is down. Therefore, they keep the door open and you will see flies anywhere. Definitely not worth to spend $15 for such a poor food. read more

Decided to try a new place on a Saturday for lunch. It was fun to watch the guy behind the counter, making the hand pulled noodles. Some of the best dumplings I have had. The people were really helpful with choosing which bowl to get. My husband and I got two different bowls and both were delicious! Definitely would go back and try some other things again. The service was quick and the people we're friendly. It is small inside, but fits with the vibe of the noodle place. read more

Outstanding food in Matthews. Highly recommend. All of the dishes we tried have been very tasty. Large portions. Delicious.
