I'm not sure what artichokes symbolize in literature or art. You can probably deduce from choice of stately vegetable that the place has a decidedly old European feel. Knick knacks like elaborate magnifying glasses are fit for Sherlock Holmes. Rich tapestries in the back take on brooding, dark colors. The artisan soap here struck my fancy--it was the same brand (the name escapes me) they carry at Scandia Down, but the stuff here was at least $10 cheaper. They had stuff I didn't see at Scandia, including frogs, two adorable pigs, dogs, and more.

All very unique and add a touch of whimsy to almost any décor. In addition, I've furnished and decorated two houses with the help of the wonderful designers at Artichoke Designs. Not only do they help steer in the right direction in terms of pulling a room together, they do it with an eye toward my budget. You buy furniture for less money at places like Pottery Barn but you won't get nearly the durability or style that you get with a custom made piece that the designers here can help you find. I especially appreciated the way they were able to blend new pieces with my older, sentimental pieces that I just couldn't part with. If I could give this place 10 stars instead of only 5 I definitely would.

Jeff Sheats Designs worked closely with me during the construction of my new custom home. Jeff and…read morehis team were invaluable throughout the process. They created detailed construction drawings for lighting and electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, and millwork including a stunning coffered great room ceiling. Furthermore, the team shepherded me through the appalling number of choices to be made whether it was upholstery, window treatments, flooring, bathroom tile, countertops, fixtures, or doorknobs. They actually found lighting (wall sconces, overhead fixtures, and table lamps) that I actually love, not just tolerate. Jeff was also able to deal with my family "stuff"; I come from generations who happily acquired (and kept) furniture, art, oriental rugs, and a multitude of accessories. Needless to say, most of these items needed attention - cleaning, reupholstering, refurbishing, or repairing. Each was sent off to the appropriate craftsman. The team was able to combine my old pieces with new furnishings that complement the old and fit in beautifully. Even the move itself went smoothly, largely due to the capable movers and packers recommended by Jeff, and the fact that all the rooms were meticulously planned prior to the move. Sheats even handled having the art hung and items placed in the display cabinets. Having a design group that "knows people" made everything simpler. And for me, having a designer comfortable with color (and lots of it) has made my new home very warm and welcoming.

He helped with advising me with managing the project and making sure I was happy with the final results. I would definitely consult Jeff again, his expertise, creativity, professionalism and flexibility not only helped me find the right colors, but helped me feel great about the whole project. I've picked out my own paint colors in the past and always regretted doing so. This is an expense that is well worth the investment!

Everything Home

I was in need of design services and had seen Everything Home in the Carmel Design Center. I did a…read morebit of research and noticed they had excellent reviews on Google as well. I stopped by this week to inquire about their services and had a terrible experience, prompting me to write this review. The woman who greeted me and attempted to do an initial interview was one of the most obnoxious people I have ever met. She began filling out a form and things went downhill fast. Every question she asked me, she interrupted before I could complete my answer. She kept inserting information that was not pertinent to my needs, and when I expressed an interest in particular types of furniture she stated I did not need that and then would rant about what would be best for me (she had virtually no info about my project, or my likes and dislikes). She also attempted to sell me furniture from the showroom in color ways that I could not use and then told me I could put my current furniture that I wanted to utilize in the basement, and use the showroom pieces she was suggesting. She continued to prattle on and then started a political commentary (and yes, she initiated THAT conversation) until I finally had to practically yell at her that I was not there to discuss politics with her. She continued to talk nonsense for several minutes until I was ready to run screaming out of the store. She also told me she was not a designer but could help me anyway. I never had an opportunity to meet a designer or inquire about services, pricing, etc.. This was not my first experience with design services but it was certainly my worst experience with a business in trying to utilize their services. There was at least one other person there and I found it amazing that this person did not overhear the conversation, and realize my discomfort. Overall the whole experience was like going in someone's home and having a growling, snapping chihuahua at your feet the whole time. I can't imagine working with this company on a multi month project! I won't be going back to "Everything Home"
