I believe this company has lost its luster. They were "five star" when I had 25 window blinds and four electric blinds installed eight years ago in my new house. The product was good and the installation was flawless. But now eight years later they seem to put the customer last. This evaluation stems from a recent encounter when I requested help from the company after a battery for one of my electric blinds wouldn't accept a charge. Their immediate recommendation was to replace the motors for all four electric blinds at a cost around $1,000. Needless to say, I was stunned by their recommendation. I was pretty sure it was either a bad battery or a bad charger. They offered to send a technician out to assess my problem as long as I agreed to pay a $150 trip charge. Well that offer just sucked all the joy out of me. Instead, I asked if I could speak with a technician so I could describe what I discovered after conducting some basic testing. They said they would have someone call me, but nobody did. Further testing supported my belief that the charger was bad. I found an exact replacement online for the device I had, but the manufacturer had discontinued it. That told me everything I needed to know. I found another charger on Amazon for $15 and it was delivered the next day. Thank you Amazon. The new charger worked. Problem solved. I have to say I was extremely happy that $15 for a new charger saved me from spending $1000 to replace four window blind motors.......plus a $150 trip charge (eye roll here) .... :). Bottom line: they might still do good installations, but their follow-up support needs some work. read more

They don't deserve a single star. Horrible. 5 months after I contracted for shutters, I have holes in my walls, shutters that were made much too big for the windows - they installed them anyway, taking 8 hours to do 3 windows. The shutters slats don't open because they hit the wall rather than the window clearance. I was told it would be fixed 4 in 4 weeks. I called after 5, spoke to the president and he told me he's look into it. I called twice more that week and texted him twice. Crickets. I gave them time to fix it and ONLY called after I gave up and posted a negative review. That phone call was to berate me for not "knowing" that after 5 months they were going to reorder them. I lost thousands because they continued to screw up, blame others, and ignored me. I won't give them another chance. A verrry expensive lesson. read more

I had several companies out to bid on window treatments for my new construction home. Window valet was one of them. Window Valet had comparable prices, but the customer service left a lot to be desired. I built a new home and a Window Valet salesperson left a brochure with the home model sales agent. So I called to get a quote and made an appointment. The salesman Josh showed up 20 minutes late. Moving is not a stressful free experience, so I was surprised he was so cavalier about it. That set the tone (and the Yelp reviews) and I went with another company. Josh did not take any measurements but gave a quote (?). When I contacted the salesperson Katie, prior to the home visit, she said before they could give a quote, they would have to measure the windows. But Josh didn't measure my windows! I don't understand their business model. Window valet had the longest lag time from order to delivery (12 weeks) so are the blinds made in China and shipped over? The local business I ended up ordering from manufactures in Lafayette and the blinds are ready for installation in four weeks. I wasn't impressed by the company or service. read more

Do not use this company. We have tried and tried to get them to fix our.Motorized blinds. The owner of the company will not return phone calls or emails. Their customer service says they are not in the outdoor blind service anymore, and they will not communicate with alternative solutions. we are stuck with blinds that do not work and we can't get the owner, Josh, to do anything to remedy this problem. We are not looking for free service or warranty work, we are simply looking for a solution and he cannot provide one. They are the ones that installed our motorized blinds and now they want nothing to do with them. read more

Company started selling and installing outdoor screens. Three years later, they now refused to service the screens even when under warranty. They claim they just can't find workers to do it. Their solution is to tell their customers to go find a handyman and they're sorry. I would not trust them to stand by anythingthat they install. If I could give negative stars I would. I paid for a very expensive motorized electronic shade to be installed on my back porch. The item has maybe worked 10% of the time over 2 years. First unit was replaced, we are on our second unit, which doesn't work either. Recently, I have called, texted, and emailed Josh to come out and remove my shade. I have yet to receive any responses back from my many attempts to communicate. Keep in mind, I have given Josh at least 3 referrals, where each of the people purchased products from Josh. We were happy to see his recommendations and made the choice quickly and easily. The zebra blinds are something new and are great fabric addition. The motorized rollers are great, and work well and make life a lot easier for our bay window. Dale his installer was here and did an outstanding job removing the old and replacing the new. We had seven windows which he got done in less than 2 hours. I was very impressed with the organized way he did things and his pleasant banter throughout. I just paid $150 for a service call with absolutely nothing being fixed. They also gave inaccurate warranty information. They told me there was nothing they could do but would charge the minimum repair fee anyway. They have also started this tricky little deal of requiring $50 up front before they will show up. For comparison, I then called another company that has been nothing but accommodating, fair and yet to charge one dollar while providing excellent, prompt service, advice and has gone out of their way to resolve the repair. And no ridiculous trip fee. This is what customer service is all about and how businesses earn repeat business and referrals. I typically am not one to write a review. I try to be understanding that things happen. However, I felt this at least warranted something. I met with Jason on April 1st 23 to talk about an order. He put some things together and sent it to me as requested. He advised they need around a 3-week lead time. The goal was to have blinds ready to install when the new home was finished (end of May). On April 24th I paid my deposit, then paid the rest of the order around the middle of May. The deposit was all that was needed for the order to be placed with the rest due at time of service. I guess I should have waited to pay the balance before, lesson learned. We closed on our home May 22nd. The week prior, I started calling Jason for status of my order. Never answered, no return calls. This is after multiple attempts. The one time I got in touch with Jason (using a different number), he said that the order was stuck in customs. I finally called the main number, where I spoke to another person who advised would call me back, nothing. Finally, after some research to find the CEO/Owner, I called and asked for Josh. He called me back that evening. Josh advised that the order was not stuck in customs, that Jason had made a mistake and the order was never submitted. Kudo (singular) for that. I told Josh that I understand things happen and that the most important thing to me was communication. Had Jason just been honest, I might not be typing this. Josh sent two gentlemen to put up paper blinds on my windows until the order was in. But that is not the end to this story. Josh advised me that he placed the order, even called me Saturday morning to let me know it was accepted. He said it would be 7-10 business days and that he would check on it personally. Fast forward 10 days. I (yes me) called The Window Valet to ask where the order was. They advised it has a tracking number, which they provided. However, the factory did not actually ship it, just created the label. Once again, I advised that communication is the most important thing to me but now getting my order was moving up the list. The factory finally ships the blinds. Just a timeline refresher at this point. April 1st discussion. April 24th deposit. May 15th balance in full. May 22nd move in date. The first week of June, no blinds. In the order, we have typical faux wood blinds and a zebra shade. They arrived to install the blinds on June 13th, they advised me of 2 complications. 1: They did not bring the zebra shade. 2: One of the blinds had a missing wand. I was advised they would come back tomorrow with the zebra shade, and they did. I was also advised they would order the wand, which should take 5-7 business days. On day number 7 (June 23rd), I (yes me, again) reached out to see where the wand was. Josh calls me back to say that they are getting it to me, and it would be here next week. Once again, a promise of X business days that did not hold true. On June 30th, we finally got the last piece. 12 business days later. Order start: April 1st (April 24th if you want to go by the deposit date) Order complete: June 30th. The last part of this story: The day after the install I sent Josh a text message. It was polite and can share what was said. I noted that I loved the blinds (which I do) and that I understand things happen. I also noted that communication was my #1 priority and that it failed time and time again. I did not demand anything, only asked if we could discuss some type of compensation as this transaction went much further than goods for service. In the end, The Window Valet has its money, and I have my blinds. The difference to me is time. Promises that I had to keep track of. Items that I had to sit and wait for. Agreements that were not follow up on. I had to manage the process even though they were paid to do that for me. The best part, after all the discussion about communication...he didn't respond. I'm not saying to avoid The Window Valet. If you are reading this, you are an adult and can make your own choices. I just wanted to share my experience. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. CANNOT recommend. Poor installation VERY POOR customer service! Purchased full house of Plantation Shutters. Although the installation looked very nice, they did not take the time to show and test all of the windows for me, as it took all day. Shortly after, I found had one window that I could not unlock to open, and others that needed adjustment as they would not stay closed.when I called for an appointment, was then hit with the $100 fee, that he would not budge on - even though it was their poor workmanship. I paid $$$$$ for these Plantation shutters, and felt that poor/incorrect installation should have been handled by the company. MANY calls and months later, after involving Norman Corporate office, this was finally resolved. Mr LeClair's behavior was amateurish, unprofessional, as well as, unethical. Set up an appt. for a quote on roman shades. Josh arrives, immediately gives a dirty look and says 'we've already quoted this'. I tell him no this is a new job. Over a year ago they quoted plantation shutters on the back of our house, we went with a different company. This was for roman shades on the front of my house. He then very abruptly said 'well, it will now be $100/hour to quote these per our re-quote policy'. What?? Their entire website, brochures and business cards have "free quotes and consultations" all over them. needless to say, we declined the $100/hour charge and he hastily left. His attitude and tone was one of a child throwing a tantrum. This was the height of unprofessional. We have tons more business to give someone for shades and blinds, but will definitely be using someone else and telling everyone we know to avoid this company. I can't give more than three stars to The Window Valet. The order took several days longer than initially promised and the shade installed was not what I ordered. It took two more weeks to finish the installation with the proper shade. They charge premium prices, so I expect a whole lot more in service and product than what was delivered to me. read more
