Really wish I read these reviews before taking my luxury boots here! I am truly appalled that this place is still in business. I came here out of convenience and will never be back. Do not come here. I dropped off the boots and asked to see what type of bottoms they offered. Shop owner, who barely speaks a lick of English, seemed to laugh at me like I asked a dumb question - "well of course they'd be black". I was referring to the patterns of course! After communicating (with some difficulty) what I was seeking, he took a pen and drew 4 X's on the bottom of my shoes. I cringed a little because these were brand new but thought it was normal procedure for them. After all, these were the black bottoms of the shoes and nobody would see the marks anyway. Then it was time for me to pick up my boots. I did not have my ticket on me which admittedly was my fault, however I did have my payment receipt with the credit card number, date and time on it. Further, I felt that my phone number or a description of the shoes and size would suffice. I was willing to cooperate or provide whatever information they needed. They do not have a bell to get anyone's attention so I was left standing there for a few minutes before someone came to help me. As soon as I stated I had no ticket the staff (another man) got angry and told me I couldn't pick up my shoes. Fine. My mistake. Asked if there were alternatives as it was the end of a long work day for me and I did come by to pick my shoes up on the way home. He grunted "not my problem, you can call the police". Also told me to speak with the owner, i.e. return the next day. The man proceeded to tell me about the time the shop lost $500 because they apparently let someone pick up shoes without a ticket. It would be silly to follow his advice and call the police. I understand that as per their store policy I could not pick up without my ticket. That's entirely within reason. I am also sorry that the business went through such a loss in the past - but I will NOT tolerate rude behaviour. If the man alleged he had been here for 45 years, it scares me to think how many people (and evidently several according to other reviews) he has poorly treated in the past. When I returned the following day (today) I voiced my concern to the owner over how rude and disrespectful the staff was. Again, I struggled to understand the owner but I do know that he did not once apologize for my negative experience. He also referenced the $500 story but frankly, I said I was here to pick up my shoes and not argue further. I'm not entirely satisfied with the craftsmanship either, to be honest. My shoebox also managed to come back with a black scratch on the top and a few punctured holes as if they worked on top of it. It is my mistake for not doing my research before trusting this shop with my beautiful and expensive boots, but now I am writing this to warn others to stay away from this place. Took a pair of shoes that I loved for a simple repair. I needed the edges glued down a bit because it was coming away from the body of the shoe. He completely wrecked the front of my shoe. It looks much worse than it did before. The front part has bits falling off of it and there are crusty clumps of glue all along the seams. It's a shame because we had come here several times before and they were alright. The quality of service and repair just diminished over time. read more

Never, ever will I go back to this store. Worse experience ever trying to deal with the rude, insultng, devious owner and his bullied staff (I dont blame them for being scared of him though!) The situation basically me paying for a boot repair, he claimed I didnt pay. Even after I brought in my visa statement he STILL wouldn't give me a refund! He was absolutely horrible. Do not bring your shoes there. They managed to badly scratch the leather for a simple glue job. When i hecked amd mentioned the large patches of scrape on one of my shoes, the guy told me "it's a repair shop, not a shoe factory!". Haven't actually been served here, but watched the shopkeeper mumble to himself as he walked around the entrance. A lady approached him and he rudely told her to go inside before he'd serve her, saying he was "just on his break." Truly appalling behaviour and wouldn't go there even if someone paid me. read more

Aside from the unfriendly service, the workmanship and materials are not up to par. My shoe repair didn't last even a year and the pieces are already falling apart. ABUSIVE SHOP OWNER The man who runs this shop dishes out abuse to anyone who enters his store. I watched him berate customer after customer as I sat on a bench outside the shop waiting for someone in the mall. I decided to try getting some keys cut anyway, but alas, was subjected to intense verbal abuse as well, and he also refused to cut my keys because "cutting keys gives him migraines." How he stays in business is beyond me. His behaviour borders on harassment; it almost warrants a call to the police. read more

Never go there for anything!! I should have read the reviews before I went there out of convenience. I just recently moved to Richmond and needed to add a sole to my shoes. Figure that it's a simple enough job and probably won't go wrong with any shoe repair. Boy was I mistaken. The turn around was fast for the work done, but the work done was horrible. The sole was not evenly cut, I can see amole glue residue, there's a gauge on the original soles. The edge was sanded after the new soles were glued on and the sanding stripped the edge of the shoe and made it much rougher. Also cut off a small portion of the original sole. It was so frustrating I wanted to cry. The owner wasn't in, so they said there was nothing that can be done. Offered to have me leave my shoes there so he can fix it. I declined as I do not trust their craftsmanship. Please I implore you, DO NOT TAKE YOUR SHOES THERE. read more

Terrible terrible customer service!!! If you want someone to ruin your day, go there and get yelled at!!! The first time i went there to drop off my shoes to get them fixed. The first guy sounded very arrogant and kept bragging about how long they have been in business. But i was okay with that as long as they get things done. He fixed my first pair of shoes within 5mins and i was happy abt. He said he needed more time for the second pair so i said i will come pick them up next week. The second time i went into the store to pick up my shoes. It was another super old Italian male. I thought that i lost my ticket. So i told him i lost it and asked if i can still pick them up. I described how my shoes look like. Then he started talking very rude and said no. No ticket you have to pay to buy the shoes. So i started looking through my purse my bag hopefully to find it. To my surprise, i found the ticket so i showed him. And he yelled at me for lying! He said that i was trying to pick up the shoes and come back to claim my shoes again next week!!! And he wouldn't stop yelling at me even though i said sorry i should have looked more carefully. He was so rude and yelling at me for making me feel so bad that i lied to him for saying that i lost my ticket!!! He is absolutely crazy and ridiculous. So arrogant and so rude. This store has ruined my boots. I went in for new zippers and they cannot sew at all. The shoes came back to be dirty and there are scratches all over my boots now. They charged about 70 dollars for the simple repair and they just turned my boots into garbage. Will never go again. Too bad there's no negative stars. read more

The rude Italian guy is the owner and he is in his eighties. This guy was rude to me too, or so I thought the last time he served me, i.e., when he punched 2 holes into my leather belt and charged me $5. But I had asked him directly if he was from Italy as his brusqueness was similar to mannerisms of men I had encountered when travelling in southern Italy, Bari in particular. I have had shoes fixed a few years ago, so I cannot comment on the shoe repair service now, but they did an alright job. They carry a small selection of Fiebings leather dye, so I do go back there occasionally for my leather-related needs. The other older guy that works there is nicer and easier to deal with. read more

Awesome, speedy service. Great quality but at a reasonable price!

Top notch shoe repair at reasonable prices. Had a moderately expensive pair of derby shoes resoled for $40, and they did an excellent job - and followed up with a great polish to the shoe as they now look to be in excellent condition. Reasonable turnaround time of three days, and Lansdowne is easy to get to without a vehicle thanks to the Canada Line. I can see this lasting me another 2 years at least, as it appears to be much stronger than the sole that originally came with the shoe. read more

We have an on-going problem with this store. Back in Oct 2017 i took some shoes in there to get fixed. He said it would be $36 and would be ready in a few days. i took out my debit card and machine belched out error report saying transaction not complete. we tried two times same thing.. so i had some cash and paid. i continued shopping then decided to check my bank online as i had a funny feeling. sure enough $36 came out of my account and i paid $36 in cash also!! we were in the mall still so we went back to see if this could be settled.. the old guy was so RUDE and did not understand the problem and assumed it was all my fault. the SLIP said "Transaction cancelled" and even after showing my phone that said money came out he did not trust that.. he gave me back my shoes and my cash i had paid, but gave me no indication he would do anything about his machine that took $36.. i have gone to my bank twice and they have printed and stamped a paper proving money came out. I went back to store twice and both times they said they would look into it with their accountant and both times NOTHING.. i feel bad in a way because the second time i went back a younger man said it was his father i had talked to the first time and that he just had a stroke... he said he would look into it and i gave him my phone number.. no phone call a month later.. i am not finished yet i need to go back to bank and back to them again.. I will keep hounding them.. $36 is not going to break me.. but why should i have pay for something that i did not get any service!! read more

Worst service ever experienced. Man was extremely rude and shrill. When I asked to have two belt holes punched, he said it would be $2 each. I asked him to measure, and he said it was $5 extra for that. And then he complained that $2 for ten minutes is too little. After I marked where i wanted the holes myself, he punched the first one, I wanted to see how it was before he continued. He yelled at me and yanked away the belt, and left for the back of the shop. I was worried he would not give it back. He came back, lecturing me on MY attitude. I will never visit again. read more

TERRIBLE!!! I've never in my life posted any negative comments for any business as long as they provide reasonable services, this time is exceptionally terrible. After I paid $85 in cash for repairing 2 pairs of shoes, the store guy gave me a pick up receipt and asked me to pick them up in a week. I did come on the pick up date marked on the pick up receipt but one pair was not ready, so the same shop guy asked me to come on the next day, but I knew I'll be busy so I asked if I can come a few days later so I did. Today, I arrived to pick up my 2 pairs of shoes, a different store guy claiming he is the owner, asked me to pay $85 because their IN-STORE records does not show a payment receipt. I explained to the guy that his staff offered me NO CHOICE but to pay FULLY in advance, took my money in exchange of giving me a pick up receipt, so it was very obvious that was the process. Now he is telling me they have IN-STORE records AS WELL that I suppose to know?!? What if they are the one removing the records?? He accused me not paying in front of everyone there, refused to call his store guy but asked me to leave my shoes behind AND come back tomorrow when the shop guy is back at 1pm, PAY them if his store guy does not remember if I have paid or not. This is HORRIFYING, how can businesses in these days in a big city still doing business by staff's memory, how do I know if this is not a SCAM ?! I said CALL THE POLICE NOW, he hesitated and asked for my phone number, I said how come you do not even call YOUR GUY?! Finally he did and the guy was telling him I did pay. Went to this shop a week ago looking for heel grips, preferably leather ones, which shoe repair shops generally carry. All the other stores seemed to only have them with a synthetic fabric or plastic-feel. I got to the store about eight minutes before closing. I figured it wouldn't be a big involved affair and I should be able to request, find and purchase heel grips in that space of time. The store already had the mesh gate across the entry. Old Guy inside says he's closed. I say something about how early it is compared to the other stores surrounding him. Old Guy complains he has to work 14 hours a day, he's allowed to close 5 minutes early. So I ask him anyway if he has heel grips. Old Guy says no, haven't carried those in years. So, one week later, today, I go back to confirm they don't carry this item. Old Guy could be right, it could be the way it is now, maybe heel grips are going out of fashion and OG knows his stuff. I want to see for myself that they don't carry heel grips. I'll browse if I have to. Sure enough, there's a really cute young guy working - and, hey! Wadda ya know? Right beside the cash register - heel grips, in leather! I was in and out of there in probably under two minutes. I pickup my shoes on Sat, only less than 48 hours, on next Monday morning, the sole is cracker. Then I am back to the shop and ask for fix again. But a rude man says there is no guarantee and warranted. If I need to fix it, he would charge the fees again. Terrible services and terrible work. I really like this business, the older European owner is very good at what he does. I always go here to get my shoes repaired.

First time customer and hadn't read the reviews because I thought a few stitches in a handbag would be quick and easy for someone bragging about being in the business for 30 years. I was told by Joe the older guy that it would take a week to have a seam reinforced in my Calvin Klein handbag. When I went to pick it up a week later on March 29/18, he charged me $10.50. When I looked at it before leaving, there was a huge hole in the bag. It appears the repair guy took out the seams and made a huge hole and that's how it was given back to me! Very shoddy work that seemed to be done with glue because it still felt wet. Unbelievable! After all the unattractive work done on it, it appears the seams came apart again while it was still sitting on their shelf. I'm not sure how he thought it would hold with items in the purse. Very weird! When I called to see if it was ready today, the same older guy was very rude and said call back tomorrow. Think I better go back and pick it up before they completely ruin my purse. I bought high heel cushions from the younger guy yesterday. I decided to use something else and called the next day to ask about the return policy. A European older man answered and could not understand what I was saying. I tried to explain that I bought an item from him and wanted to return it. I did not open the package. My husband made two keys there last Saturday. When we tried at our locks, they were both not working. We went back on Sunday, the man worked there was extremely rude and told us he has nothing to do with keys. He only repair shoes. The man who's in charge of keys is off on Sunday. Okay! Then I went back on Wednesday, the gentleman who is in charge of keys re-polished two keys that he made on last Saturday and told me to try it again, I suppose to push it harder and leave it in the locker for a moment to be able to open. He was nice enough that told me to come back again if it still not working. Unfortunately these keys were still not working when I tried at home. Went back again the next day, the rude man came out after I knock on the window, told me they can't do anything because my locker is too old, that's why the key is not working, and this is the last time he would polish it . This is it. I can't come back even they still not work. They don't guarantee it. I was speechless with his attitude. I can't believe this is how he react to the customers who give them business. Luckily the gentleman who dealt with these keys originally came out and give me the refund with no extra questions. I actually don't want to have this refund if they can make my keys work. I had exactly the same experience as Jane T. Went in on a Sunday to get a key duplicated, and the older thin guy was on duty. Took the key to the back, cut the duplicate, and I handed him the $3.50. Right when I was about to leave he says "any problem with the key, please come back on Tues". Found it quite odd that he would say that. Lo and behold when I put the keys into the lock, the key didn't work. Happened to be in the area again on the following Tues and dropped in. This time the short tubby fellow, who I took for the owner, was on duty. I explained the situation to him, and he took the key to the back, polished it again, and handed it to me. Before turning to leave, I inquired "this key should work right?". He shrugged his shoulders and threw both hands up with an expression that implied he was offended by my even asking him such a silly question. I was disappointed with this response but was willing to take with a grain of salt, especially if the problem was solved. Unfortunately, when I got home to try it again, the key still didn't work. Right then and there, I was frustrated and I knew this was not the place to go to cut keys. Happened upon a different shoe shine/key cutting place in the Garden City/Blundell shopping centre, popped in and got another duplicate key cut for the same price. Service with a smile, and the owner even cracked a couple of jokes along the way. Also, for some reason, based on how this guy conducted things, I was confident the duplicate would work - and it did, and I was happy. Now, to take care of business, I went back Lansdowne Mall and dropped in to see the tubby guy. Told him the key still doesn't work, and he gave me a blank stare. I then repeated myself, he looked at me again, then turned to the cash register to refund me my money. However, instead of handing me the money, he rudely tossed the change into my hand as though I was trying to rob him or something. Probably should have tossed it back at him the same way he did, but didn't want to raise a stink. turned and left vowing never again to set foot into that shop again. read more

Horrible customer service! I wish I read the reviews before I came into here. I was in the mall wandering around, and I have needed a key to be cut for a while so I came in to see if they could do it for me. I had my key out in my hand ready, and no one was to be found. Later the shoe maker wandered into the store and yells at me saying "can you not read English?" And then I realized that there was a sign saying you cannot get your keys cut on Sunday and Monday. I told him I didn't see the sign. I come by the mall often so I was thinking maybe I could come back Tuesday and get it done. I asked him "do you know if this key could be cut here?" He then yells at me and says "How am I supposed to know? I only fix shoes." It was clear he didn't care about what business he got and he doesn't like Asian people. I told him he was being very rude and he responded with "No I am not rude. I am just a shoe maker." He could have politely told me he didn't know and to come back another time.
