I usually don't wear makeup at all, and was looking for an alternative way to get longer/fuller looking lashes that still looked natural. My cousin referred me to Lanna for lash extensions and being a contact wearer, I initially worried that it'll cause discomfort to my eyes. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience! The first session cost about $80 (since I was a referral) and afterwards, I believe the fill is about $65, both of these prices are not including tip. Being a newbie, I am glad that the lashes were not as heavy as I anticipated (like falsies) and pretty doable for daily wear. I got them done before a trip to Hawaii and I'm pretty glad how my pictures turned out! It was pretty nice to have long and noticeable lashes, after living my whole life with short and straight lashes. One thing to note is that like all lash extensions, they do require daily maintenance and cleaning. And also, if you're a natural eye-rubber, like myself, it'll be tough to build constraint to not touch your eyes!!! I think that was the hardest thing for me. They last about 3-4 weeks depending; you'll notice when there's chunks of your lashes missing... For the maintenance and price (a fill is needed every month) and I usually drive an hour to see Lanna, I will probably just stick to mascara for now. I discovered Lanna a little over a year ago via Groupon after searching for trusted local lash services. I've been to a handful of eyelash studios - both fancy and non-fancy, the good and the bad. From experience, I can easily vouch that paying 120+ for your lashes doesn't always guarantee the best and most comfortable service, even after a glass of complimentary vino. Lanna is literally on another ball game when it comes to lashes. She's extremely cautious, gentle, meticulous, and light on the hand. During my 1 hour lash sessions, I always seem to find myself falling asleep because my experience is very comfortable and without any tugging or stinging. Once I arrive, Lanna immediately knows how I want my lashes done (3D lashes) and the style in which I'd like it laid out (showed her a picture of a famous blogger's lashes, and she nails it every time). Experts recommend to avoid washing around the eye area for at least 48 hours after having your lashing done, however, I never seem to follow the rules. I have only gotten eyelash extensions once and that experience was okay but the shop was very far so I was looking for a new deal closer to home. Got the Groupon for eyelash extensions with Lana and was able to book an appointment for next day. Booking is very easy and can be done online. You do have to sign up to be able to do so but the sign up process is pretty painless and not too long. (However, the slot I originally picked out but couldn't book until I registered was taken before I was done registering. I encourage anyone who buys this deal to register first and then book a time!) The morning of my appointment I got an email saying that it had been pushed back by fifteen minutes but that didn't bother me at all. I showed up right on time and found the shop to be very clean and well maintained. Lanna came from a back room and told me to wait another five minutes while she finished with another client. Waited the five minutes then was brought to the back where she showed me a little pallette with different eyelash lengths and asked which I preferred. I chose 12mm, about the standard size, and she got to work right away. While she was applying the lashes I noticed the room was pretty quiet. There was no music playing and the only kind of white noise was a small fountain in the corner as we didn't really speak to each other. I was going to use this opportunity to sleep because I figured it could take over an hour to finish. Just as I started to doze off Lanna said she was all done about 40 minutes later. Lanna handed me a mirror to check out my lashes as I sat up but when I tried to open one eye I felt some discomfort/slight burning irritation. She noticed me squinting and immediately started fanning that eye. Burning stopped after a few seconds. Got a good look at my lashes and they were gorgeous! They pop but aren't so dramatic that they look very unnatural. I was happy enough with the time and final look that I booked my refill (which I had not purchased as part of my Groupon) right away as well a another service (oxygen facial for dry skin). I found Lannas ad on Groupon ($50) and decided to give this eyelash extension a shot. I asked for natural looking eyelashes and thats exactly what I got, it takes me 15 mins to get ready for work in the morning. About a week later my lashes literally started to fall off. I did as she told me which were no water contact for 48 hours and also no makeup and still the lashes fell off. I scheduled another appointment for a fill (additional $50) and when I arrived she blamed how the Groupon offer on provided so much lashes. A week goes by and yet again lashes are falling off. I write a bad review Lanna contacts me to offer a free set to redeem her work, ONLY TO HAVE MY REVIEW TAKEN DOWN FIRST. I take down the review arrive at my appointment and she is going back and forth with me as she's putting lashes on my eyes about what might've happened as to why my lashes fell off. Groupon buyers BEWARE - I came in with an appointment SPECIFICALLY booked for "Groupon Extensions" via her Vagaro page (per Groupon instructions) and she decided to give me a fuller set without confirming. At checkout she tells me what she ALREADY DID is not covered under the Groupon. She started throwing out excuses explaining she was trying to mimic my old set (I only asked for the old ones to be removed) and therefore used 90 lashes on each side ... then repeatedly says she "didn't know" what my appointment was booked for when it's clearly noted on the Vagaro app's booking system - you cannot argue that because the appointment had to be "confirmed" by the merchant on the app. She ends up insisting that I must cover an additional $30 as she used more lashes. Not sure if she did it on purpose because of the Groupon. Lanna is awesome! My 1st time doing eyelash extensions and I ended up buying two more of the groupons. My beautiful lashes are still completely on after two weeks! But please note: I have not rubbed my eyes in two weeks, lolol. Lanna was sweet and apologized for meeting me 10-15 mins late (her previous client was late). She was faster than expected-- she only took about 45 mins (I hear other places take an hour). I fell asleep during the process and we both laughed about it. Never have I ever had beautiful eyelashes! I've had straight and short eyelashes my whole life and no curler or fake eyelashes made me feel prettier than after my visit at Lanna's. I got the third level lash pack and this surpassed expectation and lived to my wildest lash dreams. Definitely recommending- even my friend said she couldn't stop looking at my eyes they were gorgeous! No need for mascara or eye makeup anymore, I feel gorgeous. UPDATE: I got an eye infection and couldn't see. I had to also go to the emergency room because they were too pus like and shut. I demanded a refund and she wouldn't give me a full one despite having to take antibiotics and miss a week of work- what a waste. Please don't go here for your lashes- she blamed me for being allergic saying they do a swatch test with the glue- she didn't. She didn't examine if I had an allergy to mink or the cheap fake plastic she shoved in my eyes. She POKED my skin harshly, and shoved one too deep that I always felt it. I wanted to tear out my lashes, since then, my lashes are even shorter than before, and they were brittle. I had to use Latisse treatments to enhance them and hopefully revive what I once had. This treatment made me feel so sad, and pained. I would burst out crying at work or home because of allergies and I kept fanning them. She doesn't tell you how to keep them clean and maintained- what makeup removers to use- she just sends you out immediately. My favorite part? One set of eyelashes fell off...ONE EYE within the first week. The other looked the way it should've- even with the glue gone off one eyes- they were infected and I got pink eye. Thanks , Lanna. She also won't refund you if you pay through groupon. She's not worth the full price either though. Since this experience has scarred me for a bit, I won't and haven't gone to anyone with my eyelashes, they're really brittle and sad. Alright dad, I have to confess, I have two tattoos. One on my left forearm and one on my face. Yes I've said that right, my face. The Bay Area is expensive. Aside from monthly bills and weekend adventure expense, make up was getting too expensive for me...especially eyebrow make up (Thanks to IG and their Instaeyebrows, Pinterest for pictures, and YouTube for tutorials.) Throughout the years, I've seen the trend of Chola sharpie eyebrows, Asian thin eyebrows, and thick rainbow eyebrows. Admit it, we've all done it at some point. So you're probably asking me how my eyebrows are, how I save my time in the morning, and how I keep f*cking sane with eyebrow stress?! Simple: I have my eyebrows shapely inked to match my own face. It's been about two months now with my awesome eyebrows. I'm glad to say that so far, I have no regrets with either tattoos. I now save 10-15 minutes in the morning now that my eyebrows are done. But trust me, I've done my research. I've watched TONS of YouTube videos of women getting their eyebrows microbladed. I've Yelped places where Microblading was done, and I've even asked a Dermatologist for their opinion. Lanna is located inside my now ride or die salon, Bleu de Beaute. I was recommend by Lilly to give her a try. She speaks English and Vietnamese. You can either call Lanna or use Yelp to schedule an appointment with her. I showed up on my appointment day with no make up on. I then signed my eyebrows away by filling out the papers stating that I am not taking any blood thinner medication and listing health conditions. She then takes the paper and explains the process of Microblading. The room is well lit, CLEAN, and her tray was still wrapped in STERILE packages. Next thing I knew, I'm lying on the table with my trust given to Lanna. She first outlines my eyebrows with a brown pencil. This process took really long (30 minutes) as she measured each angle with whatever tool she used lol. She then hands me a mirror and confirms with me that the shaped she drew in was to my liking. Afterwards, the gruesome magic happens. She begins to put topical Lidocaine on my eyebrows. She left the numbing cream to set for about 25-30 minutes. Next thing I knew, I had an Exacto knife scraping my brow bone. It sounded like someone taking a sharp metal edge and scraping it onto a car. There was no music whatsoever so I was trapped listening to a blade slicing my own skin. I knew it was over when she applied a second coat of ink on top of my brows. This layer was set for an extra 15 minutes, allowing the ink to seep through. With all the anxiety rushing through me, I was anxious to see my new brows. She gently wiped away any excess ink, helped me get up, and directed me to the mirror. I was really damn impressed! It was definitely worth every cent and pain I've invested in. Permanent makeup has really changed throughout the years and I have no regrets getting my eyebrows inked. Just a few FYI's: - Arrive with no make-up on - Bring your headphones and tunes - Use the restroom prior - Be prepared to lay down for about 2 hours - Microblading lasts for about 1-2 years depending on maintenance. You'd have to get them retouched from that point on or your browser will fade. You're probably asking what the pain level is from 1-10. Well, as stated before, I have a tattoo elsewhere and that pain was nothing compared to this. Pain Level on forearm: 1/10. Pain Level on Face: 8/10. Now that tells you something. Lol. *********** Lanna does other services like Facials, De-aging jazz, and even eyelash extensions. I called and she was able to take me the same day and that I didn't need to buy the Groupon, she would give me the same price in store! I have been coming to Lanna for a few months now since I moved really far from my original lash girl. I originally found Lanna on Groupon and made an appointment. Based on the Yelp reviews, I knew what I was getting into (natural lash look). I did not mind the natural look since I was just scouting out new places to get my lashes done. Lanna is fast, professional and very sweet. I don't get "natural" fills anymore since I like a lot of volume, but every time, Lanna does an amazing job and I am always satisfied. I usually get about 3-4 weeks in before I have to get a fill which is normal. Even though I don't follow the rules, and wash my face within 12 hours and constantly pick them when I'm bored, they still last a really long time. It's quiet in the room and sometimes there is construction going on upstairs so its a little hard to relax, maybe I'll ask her to start playing some gentle music in the background. read more

If I had to rate the service right after I got my eyelashes done, I would give it a 4. Why? She did an amazing job with them looking full but her attitude was really rude. I came in 20 minutes early and she came out of her back room and told me "your appointment is at 6:30, so you wait until 6:30." Too an extent I understand, but she could have said it in a nicer tone. When another co worker had left the beauty salon he turned off the lights and left me in the dark and by then it was 30 minutes past my appointment. I did not know she was with another customer (she could have said that) but she made it seem like she was still "on her break" and would not service me until she felt like it. What kind of customer service is that? Now, why did I give my overall rating a 1 star? Well on top off the customer service, I noticed that by 1 1/2 my eyelashes were uneven. Everyday I would loose 6-9 eyelashes and by a week and a half most of my eyelashes were gone. I was told people who get their eyelashes done should get a refill at week 2 or 3 and that the eyelashes overall would last 3-4 weeks. I cannot believe I paid so much money to have fabulous eyelashes for a week and a half. Then when I call her about it, I left a voicemail. Never has she returned my call. Oh and one more thing, my eyes got super itchy after day 3 and I was wondering why. The next day my eye is puffy and I'm wondering why. It was either glue or the fact that she used "mink eyelashes". I still don't know if those eyelashes were mink or not, but she said they were. I told a friend about my eyes puffing up and she told me that I might have been allergic to the mink eyelashes. Mink is made out of animal hair, so that may have causes the reaction or the glue she used. If you want flawless lashes for the first 3 days, then I'd recommend her. I purchased a Groupon to gift to my mother for Lanna Skin Care Studio for a microdermabrasion treatment with Lanna on Friday, July 15, 2016 and this was the worst and most unprofessional treatment she has ever received. On Thursday, Lanna called my mom and asked rudely if my mom was coming in - to which she told her that her appointment was on Friday because she accused my mom of being late - she scheduled the appointment! That was strike one. After my mom got back from the appointment, she was more than angry at the treatment she received. She has been receiving microdermabrasion facials from reputable (expensive) places for many years now and this was a tryout since this location had so many good reviews on Yelp and price was reasonable. However, she told me how old and dirty the place was. The bed sheets were not changed for my mom, who knows when they were last washed! My mom also mentioned how smelly the place was, very unclean. Nonetheless, she went through with the appointment while giving Lanna the benefit of the doubt. During the entire session, Lanna was constantly picking up the ringing phone and talking on it while working on my mom's face. Consequently, that meant my mom's face was not getting the attention it needed. She said it felt like she was on a butcher's block and not a massage table because Lanna was so rough. Lanna was unable to answer or explain the process during the procedure, and my mom speaks Vietnamese so that shouldn't be hard to do - which means she has no idea what she is doing! My mom's face is very sensitive, so she asked Lanna several times to turn down the steamer because it was too hot and may burn her face, to which Lanna ignored. The following morning after the appointment, my mom's right temple was burned. My mom texted Lanna a photo and Lanna informed her that happens to most first time microdermabrasion clients. As I mentioned before, my mom has been getting microdermabrasion treatments for years and this has never happened to her. I was introduced to this place via a Groupon for microdermabrasion. I ended up getting a couple acne facials as well. Making an appt is easy via Lanna's online booking. She's located within a hair salon, so look for her sign on the door of the salon. It's to the right of the Subway in the shopping center. There is generally ample parking in the parking lot there. The first time I came in, I was greeted as if I didn't have an appt. She asked if I had an appt, and I said that I did at whatever time it was. On our way to the her studio room, she asked whether it was for eyelash extensions, waxing, etc - so I felt like she didn't take much care in preparing for our microdermabrasion appt. When we walked in, there were still dirty towels and sheets from her last client, so I waited outside for a bit. Lanna noticed that I had a lot of acne, so she suggested to make an appt for an acne facial next time. This was the first microdermabrasion I had had. It was cool, she even showed me my dead skin cells after 1 run over my skin. It's kinda nice that she takes every call, even during an appt (easy to reach?) - but it also comes off as annoying. I had a Groupon for 3 microdermabrasions, so I ended up coming in 2 more times. The second and third time I got an acne facial followed by a microdermabrasion. It was incredibly painful. I wish she was a little more vocal about what to expect after the treatment - I was hideously red the next day (I don't generally get red) and it was unexpected. After about 4 days though, the redness and scabs from extractions subsided. The results were nice. During the acne facial, she noticed a cyst/chalazion on my eyelid. She offered to extract it. Although I wasn't sure if it'd make a difference (I had had it for about a year), it was nice that she volunteered to try to tackle it. The third time, she asked me what she charged me for the acne facial the time before...made me think she was making up prices. If Lanna had another deal, I would probably go back. I've been getting eyelash extensions from Lanna for 3 months now and couldn't be happier! I love the look of eyelash extensions and the fact that I don't have to mess around with mascara anymore. It seriously makes my makeup routine that much faster. I've gotten eyelash extensions before and I can tell that Lanna uses quality lashes. At other salons the lashes felt heavy and whenever I took a shower the lashes would puddle up a bunch of water like baby umbrellas over my eyes. Lanna's lashes are super lightweight and I can't feel them at all. For the application process, it takes about an hour so don't drink liquids beforehand! Lanna doesn't play any music which I find makes the process seem a lot longer when you're just laying there in silence. Today I asked if I could play music from my phone and it honestly made a world of difference. When it's dead silent I get really antsy and squirmy haha. As for the aftercare process you do NOT want to get your lashes wet for 24-72 hours. Honestly if you can last 3 days, do it! I've taken showers without getting my lashes wet so it's possible. I also find that getting them wet in the shower only makes them last longer. It's an annoyance at first, but eventually you get used to washing your face in the sink without splashing water into your eyes. I also blow dry them when I get out of the shower and brush them. I find this makes them last 4-5 weeks. Yes sometimes Lanna will answer her phone during your appointment, but I find that's how most Vietnamese skincare ladies operate. They are running the business themselves after all. read more
