When they were in Tribeca this store used to be on my way from the office to the Train, and I would stop in pretty regularly for a small bouquet/surprise on my way home. I was sure to keep their number once they moved to Staten Island because the service and value was always excellent. Friendly store to be in while they put a package together. This Wednesday I called to order a large ($150) bouquet for a special day and it was delivered without a hitch Thursday as always. They even had notes on file about one flower not to include from past orders (allergy). I ordered flowers for my wife nine days in advance of Valentine's Day. I opted for the upgraded Deluxe Valentine's Day bouquet for $104 thinking that something special for Valentine's Day would be delivered. This is the third time I've ordered from Langdon of Tribeca. The first time was good (bought in person), the second time mediocre (delivery) and this time wound up being disastrous. The first problem arose when at 1:30 on Valentine's Day the flowers weren't delivered. I called to inquire and the customer receptionist told me they left the shop at 10:30 and would be delivered by 4pm. Then she changed the time and said they'd be delivered by 5pm. I told her that my expectation was they'd be delivered early in the morning so she wouldn't be sitting around watching her colleagues getting flowers wondering if she would too. Stephanie replied with a suggestion that I order them for earlier in the week so that my wife could enjoy them the entire week. Not exactly a present day solution. The flowers finally arrive at 2:30 and they are far from a Deluxe Valentine's Day bouquet. What's included are green/purple hydrageas, leafy greens, three purple roses and three red daisies - a small bouquet in a small vase. I call to log a complaint and the receptionist first puts me on hold and then I'm disconnected. I call back and she says the disconnect is due to the fact that it's a wireless phone. I tell her the issue and she says the bouquet is their most popular one. I disagree and ask for a refund so I can run out and get something else. She says the only way she'll give me a refund is to have her driver go back into my wife's office and pick up the flowers for a return! Incredulous I tell her absolutely not, that is not the scene I want to create in her office. The receptionist then asks me to go over my complaint again and asks me six more times whether I would like the driver to pick up the flowers from my wife's office. I think it became a game to her, trying her best to get under my skin. That is the only reason she'd continue asking the same question I vehemently said no to. Awful experience. I won't be ordering from Langdon again. read more

How would you feel if you ordered flowers for an event and they never arrived? I ordered almost $700 in floral centerpieces for a party that took place on 6/28/19. I placed the order for these flowers on Tuesday, June 25th, and spent almost an hour on the phone with a lovely woman who helped me choose the perfect flowers for my centerpieces, as the event was a very special occasion. I should also mention that I have been a repeat customer of Langdon florist since they opened their new location in Staten Island and have recommended them to all of my family and friends. About an hour before my event was set to start, I received a call from the coordinator at the venue informing me that my flowers had still not been delivered. I immediately called Langdon, but they were closed. To put it shortly: my flowers were never delivered, completely ruining my event. The following morning I called the florist as soon as they opened. They were expecting my call, I am sure, as I left a message when I called the night of the event. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that I was already speaking with one. This manager made no attempt to even try to rectify the situation- the only thing that was said to me was that she was "speechless" and that of course I would be receiving a refund. I told her that this hardly made up for the egregious mistake they had made. I spent the remainder of my day in disbelief, wondering how any business (especially one so heavily tied to events and timed deliveries) could make such a mistake, and furthermore, how no effort could be made to make me feel as a customer that this mistake had any bearing to their business. I certainly felt as though I did not matter at all as a customer. I really thought that a more senior manager or the owner would have reached out to me regarding this situation, but this was not the case. Langdon florist can be sure that they have lost me as a customer indefinitely, and they can be even surer that I will tell everyone I know never to give them business after the way they handled such an awful mistake. While mistakes happen, I'm not sure the mistake of missing a floral delivery for an event is a forgivable one in this particular industry; furthermore, the real shame was they way that Landon Florist chose to handle the situation (or rather, avoid handling at all). read more

Loved the arrangements for the baby shower that I hosted recently, especially including the # of peonies for the costs that they charged us. I thought it would be only one in each, but there were a few (I think). They also inflate balloons that you can buy on Amazon or they have their own balloons. They do charge delivery fees, but they did deliver within the time frame. The baby shower went by too fast, so can't remember all the flowers, but the guests and parents to be were impressed! Friend: Can you grab flowers for my friend's girlfriend, well not girlfriend but you know, girl who he is... err umm... he is out of town and it's Valentines Day. ummm... can you help? Me: Goes on Yelp looks for flower shop in Tribeca, Langdon Florist has excellent reviews, call several times but all circuits are busy...this must be a good sign. Me: Sends text - yea I can help - hope they didn't sell out. Interior Flower shop Valentines Day - long line of men almost out the door and a couple of older women. Kids running around. Dozens of workers moving about. Megan C. takes a look around but doesn't see anything that grabs her. Speaks to the girl working in the front. Me: Can you make something a little bit more unique? Girl: Delivery? Me: No. Girl: Ok, great. Yes, well... my Dad can. Dad? Paul: Hi, how can I help? After I looked around the work area and selected a vase, and gave a general idea of what I had in mind, Paul was swiftly off to work. He spent a considerable amount of time working on the flowers on a day when he was beyond busy!! I cannot thank him enough. I thought the work area seemed pretty small for having so many flowers, and that's when Joe asked one of the workers to show me the downstairs. Apparently one of two, there is another sub level, and they are both HUGE!!! I felt like one of the crew :). Joe told me some fantastic stories about working in the area, and about how much his business has been impacted by Bloomberg moving 3,000 workers to long island city. He said that's 3,000 birthdays that he doesn't get to send flowers to customers for, and secretary day, and bosses day... I'm sure that other businesses in the area feel the same way. I mentioned to him that I would be giving him a nice review on Yelp and that I had a bunch of friends on there who might like to send flowers to someone in the city, who want to know that they won't get ripped off. Until this point I had not mentioned Yelp at all. He and all of his family members were so kind. He said he wasn't too up on all of the internet stuff, but thanked me and told me to tell my Yelp friends that he would be happy to help any of them if they needed flowers :-) and that he always sends the best and tries to keep his prices as reasonable as possible. It's nice to see a business selling good product, and taking pride in their work. So many flower shops overcharge and send out old flowers. These were beautiful. But before I get into that: have you ever walked into a place where the boss perches over everything and the employees hang their heads while looking miserable? It's the vibe I got here, and it makes me wonder how everyone is treated. I stopped in to check out some roses and was quoted $5 per, which seemed OK to me. But why attempt to charge my credit card $6 each? And if I order a total of eight (and pay for them), please give me that amount and not less. Wow. I was so incredibly touched by the fantastic talent and service of Joe and his team today. About 30 minutes before my city hall wedding, my maid of honor and I waltzed into this place and asked what he could do for us: we needed my bouquet, hers, and two boutonnières. All I said was, "my favorite flower is lavender." 20 minutes later, Joe came up with four incredible creations. He was so kind and friendly, told us all about his life, then brought out his own wedding album to show us his gorgeous wife and their happy day 25 years ago. SUPER UNRELIABLE. I placed an order for a bouquet a few days before my friend's event. I specifically told the girl the wedding is at 9am and I will pick up at 8am when they opened. I went there at 8am and it was closed. I stayed until 8:30am and it was still closed. I ended up getting a casual bouquet outside City Hall which served the purpose. The guy (owner or employee) called around 11:30am AFTER the wedding and asked me when am I picking up the bouquet. I was pissed. And I told him the order was for 8am. He apologized and told me he will refund my money (which he did), hence the 2-star. But then he went on and complained about traffic driving to work. I just let him vent but I was thinking don't you do that almost everyday? You don't factor traffic time in your driving? Then I asked he should have at least call me and let me know. Then he was rather frustrated and told me how could he call when he was driving? My bf commute to LI to work everyday. There are traffic lights besides the highway. Last year on Valentine's Day, they did not deliver even though I had called to confirm that morning. They have outsourced online delivery and customer service for online orders is terrible.
