This is by far the best clams I've tasted. Even the haddock was fresh. And don't get me started on the hand cut fries - they were fantastic too. We just got back from Kejim seaside adjunct and were undecided as to where to go for lunch. We never expected that little Liverpool to have Privateer Inn which offers great local food with great view of the river and atmosphere. At first we were a little skeptical because the place was empty. But then it was 4.00 pm, so you could expect the quietness of course. Given the waitresses' recommendation we were up for the clams and haddock because we were told that were freshly caught. It should be because the fisheries processing plant was just across the street. And since it was summer we had the whole patio deck to ourselves that overlooks the river. I suppose if you are around the area and in need of something to munch, don't give this place a miss like we almost did.

Cheese and meat board

The patio is beautiful place to eat on a nice day. It's nice and secluded but you can see the water. The spinach salad with chicken was very good and the cheese and meat board was nicely presented. The sausage burger was good and unusual with the sausage and Gouda cheese combination. I recommend this place for sure. And service was nice and fast.

Delicious Gluten free lobster sandwich with quinoa salad.

A fantastic place for a gluten free lobster sandwich! The GF bread is made in-house and is one if the best I have had. A very pretty patio out the back to enjoy your meal.

My husband and I stayed here on our recent trip to Liverpool. We had stayed here before about 3…read moreyears ago. Even though there is slim pickings for accommodations in Liverpool, The Best Western Liverpool doesn't act like it's the only game in town. It is a great hotel in its own right. The rooms are new and clean, like many Best Westerns. What sets this Best Western apart from the rest is the great customer service provided by all staff, not just front desk staff and the little thoughtful things like the breakfast buffet selection for people with dietary restrictions (more on that later), the variety of magazines available in the lobby, and the movies on DVD that you can borrow at the front desk. The breakfast buffet is by far the best I have seen in any hotel. Not because it's fancy or high end (which it's not), but because there is so much selection and it is so considerate of people with dietary restrictions. Gluten-free bread, waffles and muffins are kept in the back room to avoid contamination - you have to ask the breakfast room attendant for them. Gluten-free cereal is kept in its original manufacturer's container, next to the regular cereal dispensers. In addition to regular skim and 2% milk, they have dairy-free, soy-free almond milk. They have different types of yogurt - fat-free, full-fat, with real sugar and with sugar substitutes. They have so many different toppings for your oatmeal or yogurt as well - a dried fruits and nut medley, granola, shredded coconut, dried cranberries, crumbled Reece's pieces, and more that I forget. They have 2 waffle machines, lots of different pastries, bread, and English muffins. They even have processed cheese slices (in cheddar and Swiss) so you can make your own version of the English McMuffin, lol. They have whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries, and syrup for your waffles. They have hashbrowns, baked beans, scrambled eggs and a meat that rotates between sausage and ham. They also encourage recycling and composting with receptacles with clear signage as to what goes into what. The breakfast attendants are all so sweet and helpful, especially Angie and Pam. In our third day there something weird happened to our door and it wouldn't lock. One of the housekeeping staff saw us struggling with the door and said she would ask a maintenance person to come and take a look. He arrived within 10 minutes, took out his tool kit and fixed the door in 5 minutes. Both the housekeeping staff and maintenance staff were pleasant. There is lots of outdoor free parking. The Best Western Liverpool is awesome!

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and quick check in experience upon our arrival. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the beds were wonderful! Got a great night's sleep! In the morning we headed down to the breakfast area, again not expecting much. We were presented with a large selection of hot and cold foods and left feeling very satisfied. Checkout was a breeze! All this after having to listen to a staff member being rude to a fellow worker. When we were leaving the response was that the cleaner went home early! One staff member followed us out to apologize not like the colleague who was rudely yammering to her colleague. We followed up with a call and email and received a sorry. That too is not appropriate. A refund or something to try to make up for the disgusting state of the non sanitary change room would be an attempt to make things right. Sad situation caution on the change room conditions and less than satisfactory excuses.

Truly…read more We were in Nova Scotia for our honeymoon trip and had only planned the first couple of days and the last couple as well - leaving a bit of room in the middle for spontaneity. An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!

What a great place to stay and brunch!…read more It is a lovely old house on the main street of Lunenburg. It has a fantastic balance of old and new: - lovely antique furniture, floor coverings, exquisite old light fixtures, etc. - exercise room, high speed internet, business centre, flat screen TV + DVD player in the room. We were blown away by the small touches as the modern stemware in the rooms, updated bathrooms and complementary chocolates on the bed. The bed was a dream to sleep on, once the pillows were cleared and stacked in the corner:-) Nice light cozy comforter on the bed. Now for breakfast - simply fantastic! Cold buffet with solomon gundy, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.. A bread stack that included fresh from the oven croissants. We went with the a la carte eggs benedict - and don't let them give you the back bacon - go for the smoked salmon option - yummmmmm!!! We will definitely be going back. The question is only whether it will be another mid-winter, off season fantastically priced get-away or a full priced mid-summer Lunenburg folk festival week? Not to be missed!

The receptionist was hospitable and friendly. He provided us with a list of businesses in the area that would be good for a bite to eat or drinks. I would recommend The Mariner King without hesitation.
