They used to have a brick & mortar shop, but they now work from the back shed of their house. At first, I was hesitant when I saw that the business was in a residential neighborhood. When we pulled up, there was a "RM Leathers" sign on the mailbox and front door. I called and said I was there and the owner came out to meet me. I brought my husband because I wasn't sure what to expect, but when owner Teo opened the door, we realized that he's my husband's friend from soccer. Such a small world! Teo (pronounced tay-o -- Greek name), is SO sweet, efficient, and talented. He took only thirty minutes to sew the straps back on my backpack. He's affordable and you can call or text him to drop-off or pick-up items. Him and his wife run this business, creating leather jackets for motorcyclists. They attend a lot of conferences around the country to mend leather for these riders. It was such an unexpectedly great experience and I've already recommended him to a few friends! He has a sweet family and I love giving my money to deserving people like this fam!

RM Leathers = Miracle Workers!…read more I unfortunately spilled salad dressing (OIL) on my beloved Frye boots. I live in Chicago and went to three leather specialists who told me there was no hope. I called Frye and they said there's nothing that can be done w/o ruining the leather (seriously your boots are $500 and you can't help me - but that's another story). A friend told me about RM Leathers and I happened to be going to Indy for the holidays. Teo & Liz are true professionals and won't steer you wrong. Teo was very thorough in explaining that they'd clean and treat the stain - my boots are BEAUTIFUL - no stain! And their prices are very reasonable - they saved my boots when others told me it was a lost cause.

The craftsmanship of this bag is exceptional and it's obvious that creator Anita Hopper has put a lot of thought and care into making this one-of-a-kind bag. The particular photo art bag I received was from the Indiana Elements collection. These bags are a mother and son collaboration. The imagery found on these bags are from photos the son has taken on journeys throughout Indiana. The artwork is stunning almost as if it were hand painted onto the leather. Not only is the outside wonderfully made but the inside is just as gorgeous with lovely pocket details, high quality fabric, brass hardware features and plenty of space to put all of your stuff in. I appreciate that this bag is not only one of a kind but it's locally made using up-cycled re-purposed leather and fabrics. I absolutely LOVE this bag and as a lover of all things Indy this was the perfect gift anyone could give me. Looking for yet another unique gift option from Refind, consider this.... If your thinking about getting rid of an old leather jacket Anita offers a custom service option where you can contact her to have that old worn out item transformed into a new beautiful one-of-a-kind accessory. Think grandpas old Army jacket, your sisters jacket you bedazzled when you were kids, dads motorcycle club jacket, your husbands old punk rock jacket, the jacket Bon Jovi tossed your way while singing "Born To Be My Baby" at that concert you sneaked out to see in 1988...the options are endless. Details found here: http://www.refindoriginals.com/keepsake-and-custom. Note: These bags can be found at Homespun or for purchase on her website.

I adore the positive messages and the fact that many of the cuffs are made using reclaimed, antique copper pieces, and recycled leather. It's always such a joy to visit with the makers at local events around Indy while adding to my ever growing collection. The Handmade Society is such a wonderful part of the Indiana maker community, contributing excellent products and stellar service, while also doing a fantastic job of supporting other local artists and community businesses and charitable organizations. If only all local businesses operated with such integrity and positivity... Thank you!
