The food was good, I wish they had a shrimp Mac and cheese. That would be really good. The service…read morewas good, the lady was really nice. The cooks forgot a second patty on one of my burgers. The French fries are yummy. I wish there were more tacos instead of 2. The building was really big, they need to put up a bathroom sign to help people where it's at. Overall, I would say it went well.

We came here for my son's birthday and I had never heard of it before. It's away from the main drag…read moreso you really have to know where you are going. It's really a beautiful location along the river. I tried to make reservations which they said they don't take reservations, then when we got there, they wouldn't let us sit in a specific area because they said they were expecting a group of people so we asked about the reservation situation and they said they must be friends of the owner. Anyways, the food options are very good. They even have pizza. So I have no problem with the food or the location, it was more just bad service and a big mixup on one of my friends meal and so he had to watch while we all ate. He didn't get an apology from anyone which surprised me. I got the power bowl which was very good but I was confused when they brought it because it didn't look like a bowl full of ingredients, it was like a plate of ingredients more like fajita ingredients. But like I said, I did enjoy it very much. One of the people in our party got a salad with salmon on it, and she said it was very heavy with spices which she didn't think she saw listed in the menu. One of my sons got a pizza and he absolutely loved it and then two people got hamburgers which they loved also along with the great french fries. Although I only gave it three stars, I would come back here again hoping that maybe it was just one bad waitress. She rarely checked on us. In fact I don't think she checked on us at all because I had to flag her down to get carry out boxes and she didn't bring a lot of the Side ingredients we had asked for like someone asked for ranch dressing, mine was supposed to come with sour cream and salsa, and another person didn't get their side of cheese.

Don't get me wrong, I totally get that stress that many restaurants are under in getting quality employees, let alone enough employees to run a shift and understanding that I am very forgiving about maybe a little extra time it takes to take your order or get your food out. That wasn't the issue here. No one took an order until we asked 3 times, which even in the most forgiving situations is unacceptable. I'm trying to give you money yo and it was early. Food wise, when you read the menu it all sounds spectacular, but my friends ordered a few items and they both said that it was quite flavorless and honestly that's how I felt about my drink. Switched to beer after. Speakeasy implies a level of expertise in cocktails not sugary run of the mill. Like I said in my opening salvo, this is a beautiful location. I would love to think that this a great spot to rent out of an event or party but I will be honest, I'm not sure what kind of experience you will be getting. Attention detail doesn't seem to be their strong suit, if you want an example, check out their website and look at their hours. What's going on with Thursday?

TLDR: The River Rat is an overall good experience, but the food ranged from amazing to mediocre…read more The place itself was relatively lively and cozy. The servers were attentive to our needs. The dishes I ate will be rated separately because of their range in quality. Bread Basket: 4/5 The bread basket that came with the prime rib that I ordered was better than most. It came with multiple freshly baked dinner rolls with some char on them and crispy breadsticks, complemented by a garlicky butter. Soup of the Day (Seafood Bisque): 5/5 This soup was the best dish of all that I had ordered. Despite being a side dish for the prime rib, its rich flavor overshadowed everything else I ate for the evening. House Salad: 2.5/5 The salad is a standard salad that you can skip. Nothing special. Louisiana Lemon Pepper Walleye: 4/5 The walleye was the second best dish. It was a well seasoned, large filet that had a great tartar sauce to go with it. This is a dish I would order again if I came back. Prime Rib: 3/5 The prime rib was surprisingly underwhelming. The edges of the prime were a little tougher than I'd like, and the prime rib itself came out a little cold. The au jus could have been reduced to be a little more concentrated as well. Overall, if I were to come back I would choose to order some different menu items, apart from the soup.

Called to place an order of cheese BREAD for take out, was told stop by in about 10 minutes…read more Arrived and saw many staff who were all chatting with each other. No directions as to where to go and no one bothered to acknowledge me so I waited at the end of the bar. Bartenders took a couple minutes to come by, when she arrived I explained I was here to pick up my cheese BREAD take out order. Her response was pointing to the hostess stand that was empty. I went and stood at the hostess stand, few minutes of listening to the employees giggle around the corner and a girl walking by ask how many. I advised I was there to get a pickup order so she ducked back around the corner for a moment then walked away. Few more minutes pass and a third employee shows up to ask why I am there. I am announce that I placed a take out order and provided my name. She went looking for a piece of paper and asked what my order was. I stated cheese BREAD, she explained with ALL her teenage attitude while rolling her eyes that she needs to check because it's often wrong ...mmmkay Next she takes my money and heads into the kitchen. She leaves the kitchen moments later with a plastic bag then waits at the bar for change from the bartender for 5 minutes while she is holding my HOT food that was getting cold. Finally I got my 45 cents & cold Mozzarella cheese STICKS. Best part about this experience was leaving their restaurant.
