He approached me apart from the company that cut down the tree, to do the stump grinding. I was reluctant to proceed because he had also subcontracted for a company that gave me a quote for sod and removal of another blue spruce stump. That was not done properly but he promised he would make both right because he was going to use a larger machine. We agreed on $350 for both. He knew that I wanted to regrade the entire area. He scratched at it for about an hour and told me it was done. There was a pile of wood chips but when I went to rake it into the surrounding area it was obvious very little was done (see pictures). I contacted Nathan and he said he would be back within two weeks to finish the job. That was the last time I heard from him. I tried email, texting, calling and through KIJIJI- no response. He was very personable and maybe that was all just an act. I would not recommend using Rooted Solutions for anything. He might think I will just give up, I don't. I'll be going to small claims court to get my money back. I have learned he uses a phony name for this scam. His name is not Nathan Smotrycki. His real name is Nathan Goudreau. Stay away from this punk!

I did not know but homeowners insurance does not cover fallen trees unless the tree hits something & damages a structure. I don't understand this logic. Anyways, Coffman came out as promised & was done in 1/2 hour. The stump was ground up 2 days later. Cost of tree removal & stump grinding was $400, a very good price. I would recommend this company, says he has been in business 30 years so he must be doing something right.

It took them a while to get out to us but they kept in touch to let us know we were not forgotten. When they did finally get here, they were very nice and did a great job. Cleaned up the yard really well. The owner apologized for making us wait so long, but the work was worth it! They were vastly cheaper than any of their competitors. For some reason they thought it would be a good idea to park their multi-tonne truck on MY lawn in what is clearly marked a no parking zone. This resulted in rather significant damage to my lawn. I pointed this out to the crew leader who admitted their folly and promised to repair the damage. After several weeks I called the owner Dan to inquire why my lawn was not fixed. Dan was again apologetic and actually showed up 15 minutes later to see the damage for himself. Again I was promised they would repair the damage they caused. I would point out I was calm and reasonable with both Dan and his employee, I just wanted my lawn fixed. So now after three months I've had to repair the damage myself because the ruts were ruining my lawnmower (it was bottoming out). So thanks for nothing Dan! Long story short, don't hire Dan's Tree Service if you like your neighbours.
