Big projects and small requests are all handled quickly and efficiently. I've noticed a recent negative review by one of our homeowners about the company. Hers is a minority view - the great majority of our 209 owners appreciate the professionalism and work of this company, especially as they help us convert much of our extensive turf areas to drought tolerant landscaping. They helped us obtain a grant for this project, which will significantly save us money as water costs rise and availability is more limited, as well as meet the requirements of state law.

This is the first one, hell bent on destroying landscaping in the name of La Bahn's grant. The lawns used to be edged with a trimmer, thin dirt borders. Lawns with no gaps. Now all you see are lawns either completely dead or bald spots from the lawn mower operator rotating on a dime vs turning the mower. They absolutely love spraying herbicide rather than a simple weed pull. What was once color bedding is now dirt. "Storing" the herbicide bottles behind a garage. Truly shows you how much they care about safety. I even messaged them, with these same pics. Did they pick it up? Nope. Only after I copied County of San Diego Agricultural Standards Inspector on a second email. 1st time they did landscaping service looked promising. After that, every single week, spraying herbicide, tufts of grass ripped out. The latest is - killing lawns of grass with weed killer and calling it a grant mandate. I'd love to see the grant contract, but they forbid providing it. Look for yourself - Alta Mira 2 carlsbad on paseo del norte. might as well be called Basura Mira 2 now. La Bahn's should only be irrigation repair company, that is the only thing their one employee did well.

I used Edgar and crew to renovate our backyard that included building retaining walls, new fence,…read morenew turf, mulch, concrete flooring, several retainer structures to plant trees, irrigation, and planting several trees. The crew is very hardworking and don't cut corners. They take their time and do a thorough job. Communication could be better but it was not too difficult. I changed my plans several times and added new work but Edgar was very accommodating.

Our old deck was severely cracked from root damage. After having then trees removed, we got…read moremultiple estimates from other contractors. We settled on Jimenez Landscaping to replace our entire concrete pool deck because of the good reviews and their estimate was significantly lower than the other companies we had come out. It took about a month start to finish, due to the fact that there is only one concrete supplier in the Escondido area. However, they did all the demolition and prep work ahead of time, so everything went as scheduled. Their attention to detail was pretty impressive. All four of our patio beams were all rotted out and needed to be replaced. They meticulously took down our outdoor speakers and carefully re-installed them once the posts were replaced. The concrete turned out beautiful. Some plant leaves seem to have gotten into the mix and left some little holes/blemishes on the surface in a few places. However, I know concrete isn't an exact science and that sort of thing can happen. Regardless, its much nicer and was installed better than the old concrete. The old concrete didn't even have rebar. Unfortunately, a few pieces of rebar fell into our pool and made rust stains on the pebble-tech surface. However, Edgar immediately sent out a pool guy with some acid and he cleaned it up perfectly. I have to deduct one star for this: They forgot to re-install the hand-rail for our swimming pool. First they accidentally hauled it off with the junk after doing the final clean-up (which could have been better), but Edgar assured me they still had the hand-rail and it would be installed after the concrete cured. I brought it up again during the final walkthrough and was told that Edgar would personally install it the following week. Months have now gone by and I have sent multiple messages to Edgar. Multiple times I was told it would be installed the following week. I have now given up. I think they lost our hand-rail to be honest, so now we have to buy a new one and install it ourselves. PS: I wish they had cleaned the concrete residue off the bricks around the pool, because I cannot figure out how to clean it off. Would I recommend Jimenez Landscaping? Yes, but I recommend staying on top of them at the end of the project to make sure cleanup is done a little better and nothing gets lost/misplaced.

The project began shortly after we signed and was completed on time and on budget. Decisions were easy with the help of Donny and Jasmine, a real valuable asset to the company. They are an incredible team: professional, meticulous, quick, and tidy. They acid cleaned and power-washed, painted, stained, and sealed our entire yard. I was skeptical, but he'd only agree if I signed right then and there. On Friday, they rolled in at 2pm, worked for maybe 2 hours, asked for 80% of the job money, and went home. When I asked about the lack of progress, they said not worry -- they'd be back tomorrow and be done by Monday. The next day, they never showed up. Nor the day after that. Multiple phone calls and emails to the office went unreturned. On Monday morning, they first tried to claim they never said they would work the weekend. Then they admitted they had, but their truck broke down. If so, why did nobody call me, I asked? They shrugged. They then pointed to other contractors now working in the front yard, and said they couldn't work. I pointed out that there was nothing stopping them from working in the back yard. They stared blankly, then turned around and went home. At this point, I started to feel these guys weren't being completely honest. This feeling would only grow with time. For the next full week, I had to beg each day for them to tell when they were showing up, and what work would they were planning to do, so I could coordinate with the other contractors to be out of their way. Each day, they refused to explain, found another surprise reason they couldn't work, and left without saying anything. And this was not just my opinion: all three other contractor companies working at the same time, at various points, all called to tell me some variation of "your paver guys seem completely clueless." Eventually the work got done, and ended up being decent quality. That is the only reason I'm not leaving one star. But otherwise, this was the most poorly managed, uncoordinated, and questionably honest home contractor I have ever worked with.
