I gave this hotel a 4-star in another review on another site. We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip, and then the last night before we went home (of course, we were picked up at 3 a.m. to go to the airport, so it really didn't count). I will say, though, our last night, the person working the front desk on the swing shift was super nice and made killer drinks!
The first morning we were there I went downstairs and asked if I could get some coffee to go. The staff was so awesome and asked if I wanted cappuccino, maccchiato, espresso, Americano? We went down later to have a nice breakfast.
The next morning, I went down again to get some coffee to bring back to the room. There was an older man, in a suit, in the breakfast room, barking orders. I approached him and asked him if I could get some coffee to go to the room. He became very animated and told me no. We had to come down to the breakfast room to get coffee. I explained to him that his staff gave me to-go coffee the morning before. He became incensed, told me he was going to have a talk with his staff, then waved his hands and yelled, "You Americans". WTF, dude? I looked over to the front desk staff while this guy is berating me and they were rolling their eyes. Turns out this was Fillipo, the owner, and a complete ass. I could not have been nicer to this person and he just went off on me.
So 4 stars for the hotel (in a decent part of Milan) and, really, 5 stars for the staff, but not for Fillipo. I won't return to this hotel simply because he was such a jerk. And I will also let my Italian-based travel agent know! read more
