Lion is a longtime home brewer in addition to being an overall fan of craft beers. He needed to…read morestop and pick up some supplies, and as this place was close to a spot where we met friends for lunch, we headed over. Artisan Home Brew is a business that has been here for quite some time, which says something in the era of home brew becoming popular, then fading from popularity. Lots of places sprung up during that time, then closed as demand dropped. That they have survived shows their dedication to the art of home brewing and their understanding of who their customer is and what they're looking for. This is not a fancy place, nor is it a place for people to stop and pick up a six pack. They don't sell beer, just all the ingredients and supplies, along with some supplies for wine making. They have some beginner supplies, kits and such, though this is a small part of their inventory. It's an old space with clean swept wooden floors and exposed beam ceilings, part of which have coasters from various craft breweries stapled. Shelves are unadorned, lined with various items, bins of different grains line one wall. The staff are quite knowledgable and friendly, with a club-like atmosphere where discussing the craft is as important, if not more important, then selling the product. Lion joined in on the banter, then made his purchase with a firm handshake and a thanks from both. I have a feeling this is going to become a place he visits often.

I only go in for lottery tickets. They don't sell anything on their shelves cheaper than Delaware…read more But I don't bother with them anymore at all. One of the guys at the counter gave me a whole dumb thing about how he doesn't wear a mask (fyi, I was). This genius then said with a serious face that he can't get covid because he did NOT get the vaccine. I laughed at him and said "yup, that's how it works". Yikes. What a dummy. Forget this place

I've been to Brewer's Outlet about a half dozen times over the past 5 years, since I relocated to…read morethe east coast. Without exception, each time has been a great experience. The staff there is always friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Whether you know exactly what you are looking for or need recommendations, they are able to lead you exactly where you need to be. I made a stop in there this past weekend to inquire about specific microbrews. They had two of the 4 that I was looking for, which was impressive since they are relatively smaller micro breweries from the midwest. The employee that assisted me offered to see if he could order the other two in. I gave him my contact information, conditioned to not expect a phone call in the future since very few merchants go to that trouble for customers any longer. To my surprise, I received a call today informing me that he had an update on the one beer I'd requested. He wasn't able to get bottles in, but he could get a keg. Don't tempt me! ;-) The only thing that would make Brewer's Outlet better for me is if they provided an option for a mix and match case. They have such an unbelievable selection of beers from around the world, which I would love to try more of, but don't necessarily want to spend $35-$100 for an entire case of a beer that I may not enjoy. Monthly/Quarterly samplings would be a great addition/draw! http://brewersoutlet202.com

Would rate 3 1/2 stars…read more OK, got into home brewing 20 years ago and have been to many home brew supply stores. This place has just about everything you REALLY NEED to brew your own beer and make wine. Of course, there is always going to be some kind of obscure piece of equipment they don't have or some strain of yeast they don't carry or they may run out of a hops or 2. But all in all, these guys do a pretty good job of carrying the essentials and beyond. Most of the staff are very helpful with questions, and they seem knowledgeable since they all claim to brew and make wine. Some of them seem to annoyed if you ask a question. One clerk was annoyed that I showed up with a grain order. He wanted to know why I didn't email to the store so he could have had it ready when I got there. Anyway, brewing your own beer and wine making is a lot of fun. These folks have what all beginners need and 99% of what an all-grain brewer would need. Just wish the one young man was a little friendlier. Would very much recommend buying a starter kit from these people (wine or beer). Lastly, they insist on milling all the grains for you. Other home brew stores are self serve and there is no signage to state that. So not knowing, I went to mill some 2 row and got scolded. Oh well--maybe I need to just buy a grinder for my own use at home.

Customer service non existent…read more I went in here to buy a regulator because I want to use it to make seltzer. When I walked in I was greeted and informed what isle they would be in. After finding nothing the employee came over and showed me but didn't know anything about the specifications because "she's not into kegging". So I try to ask general questions but she keeps repeating herself that she doesn't know anything about the reg. She seemed annoyed that I was asking her questions about products they sell. When I bring up her attitude and ask if there is anyone around who can help she tells me to "chill out". We end it at that and I walk out. Too bad, because I was ready to spend money at a local merchant instead of online. Pros: -Great selection of bottling equipment -Good selection of grains / home brewing supplies -Good location if in Newark Cons: -Customer service / Employee attitude
