I got into archery a few years ago but I didn't know where to start besides buying a compound bow so I can go archery hunting. After months of researching and figuring out what bow I wanted, a bunch of archery friends told me to go to Landcaster Archery Supply in PA. While a bit of a drive the business is so good that it's worth a trip across state lines to visit. All the employees working there are extremely knowledgeable about archery. Whether it's compound, recurve, or crossbow. If you're trying to buy your first bow and don't know things like your draw distance and weight the technician will spend extensive time working with you to ensure your bow is built for your use. There's also an archery range inside the store that goes to I believe 20 yards (there's another one outside in a different building as wel). The place can get busy depending on what day you visit especially during hunting season but trust me when I say the wait will always be worth it given the service. The store is always rubbing deals too. I usually get a small discount on something because of the deals they run. Can't recommend Landcaster Archery Supply enough! read more

Well they have almost anything you need for Archery. I ordered everything to put together a set of arrows. They sent all but the tips. After waiting for a week, I called to check on the tips and was told they will not be back in stock for 2 months. So I asked to change to different tips. I was told they cannot do make changes to the order and could only refund the amount to order different tips. Now the tips cost the same as shipping. So now I would have to pay double for the tips. Ordered online for pickup. Never told me arrows not in stock so I drove 3 hours to pick them up to set bow up for a shoot. Then I was told will ship them to my home. Contacted customer service(Dan) and to him in 3 different messages to cancel order. They shipped arrows anyway. Now I have to wait for delivery and return them and wait for my money. Overall, we had a good experience. We're new to archery so we're not as experienced on the brands and models. We knew the style and our price range and had done research on different brands but were looking for guidance on what the best fit for a would be for a first-time archer. We communicated this to the associate but unfortunately, instead of getting guidance we were left to make our own selection until a seasoned sales associated overheard our conversation stepped in to give us a recommendation. From there the process couldn't have been any smoother, all the recommendations were spot on and we were very satisfied. The only negative was the price quoted to us was incorrect. At checkout we were hit with an addition $170.00 charge on the riser due to tariffs. The sales associate was unaware of the tariffs and offered to change out the riser but at this point we had spent 90 mins selecting, configuring and testing the bow and I didn't feel like going back through the process. I asked if they could offer us a break, but the manger would not budge. They gave us a small discount on the accessories that amounted to $18.00. If you are an archery enthusiast, this is the store. It is THE store in the east coast. I went there all the way from Virginia and it was great as we got everything we needed and being able to see the items is very helpful. For the first timers, the store is a bit complicated. It is hard to get what is where and good or bad or just simply overwhelming. Best to ask help from the staff. Service/Staff: amazing. Once they explained the products and differences, the whole store made sense. They have lots of bows and arrows and hunting related items. If you are looking for traditional bow like me, you won't find it here. I even liked their bathroom signs. I like humor. Our coach suggested even as beginners to go to Lancaster Archery and build a bow. Build our own was exactly what Corey Goldner at Lancaster recommended. My bow is about eight inches taller than my wife's. We went with the Galaxy platform. Wife has a bow built for her, and so do I. The fact that we went on their huge bowhunting sale weekend was a mistake, yet as entry level shooters we were treated to well over two hours of excellent customer service. Riser, limbs based on our needs, arrows fitted to our shooting style, and amazingly affordable accessory recommendations for budget beginners. I have never felt in more competent hands. They were selling risers priced more than our total purchase, yet I felt treated as well as those customers. read more

Just got back home from Lancaster and had to leave a review. I drove almost 6 hours round trip to get here with my friends because of how highly recommended it was and boy was it worth it. It has everything you need for all of your archery and hunting needs. It can be pretty overwhelming and intimidating at first because of how busy it is but as soon as you are helped by one of their bow techs, all of the worries are washed away. I was helped by Vinny who was just an awesome person and helped my indecisive self pick out what I needed. He offered what I believed to be his genuine opinion and was very helpful/knowledgeable. At the end he made sure that all of my questions were answered and that I was completely satisfied. I have to say, it was probably the best customer service I've experienced in a very long time. The craziest part is that I brought an old bow that I got as a birthday present and dumped a bunch of stuff on him but he didn't seem to mind at all. I wanted upgrades on some of the accessories and Vinny made great suggestions. I'm very happy with how the bow came together but already looking forward to coming back for my next one! Our organization planned the later half of the afternoon here as part of our staff retreat. I had never touched a bow and arrow before and wasn't sure what to expect. It was SO MUCH FUN. The instructor was a riot, very dry sense of humor and kept it light. Our staff was broken up into 4 teams. Once you were hit you had to sit out for 30 seconds before getting back in the game. I did much better than I expected. This was a great activity for team building. I would even recommend this as an activity to do with friends just for fun. read more

Neither of us are terribly knowledgable about what we needed but Ian took his time to walk us through EVERY step of the process, show us how assemble each piece and presented us with varying price points for each. Detailed Review: I visited Lancaster's Store and Pro Shop on two separate occasions recently following a few phone calls. My primary contact on the phone and at the shop was Ian. He was extremely courteous and knowledgeable on the phone as well as in person, and I would recommend him without hesitation. During my first visit, I was also assisted by Reade. He was also extremely courteous and knowledgeable. I would very happily do business with either of these gentlemen again, and I feel that they are truly an asset to Lancaster Archery. Additionally, other employee/customer interactions that I happened to overhear all seemed to demonstrate this same high regard for customer service, and I feel that my experience was by no means a fluke--this is very clearly a well-run and customer service-focused business. Following a couple initial calls to the shop and speaking with Ian, I visited for the first time. Simply walking into the shop was very impressive. The vast expanse of all types of bows and archery items (compound, trad, Olympic-style recurve, crossbows, arrows, and a multitude of accessories) presented in such an orderly and pleasant way was something I hadn't experienced before. I was in need of barebow/Olympic-style recurve limbs, as well as a string, arrow rest, etc. to go with a riser I already owned. Ian took the time to make sure I would be making a purchase that was best for me and my budget. I had some pretty specific needs, and Ian's recommendations and skill were invaluable in helping me select the appropriate items. During this initial visit, he worked with me to determine what weight and length of limbs would be best for me. He then fitted the appropriate string and arrow rest to my riser after we discussed choices of each. I then tried a few pairs of limbs, narrowing down my options significantly and zeroing in on a couple favorite sets. At no time did I feel rushed or experience any pressure. I was excited to come back and make my final limb selection. I returned the next day and worked with Ian again. I tried a couple more pairs of limbs, and I made my final choice. They shoot great, and I love the way they feel. They fit me and my budget perfectly. I then proceeded to purchase a case, backup string, and other accessories that I wanted all with Ian's tireless assistance. Most of the time retail shopping feels like a chore, and then there's a small percentage of experiences that make you standup and go WOW. LAS is one of those places. I arrived after a 1.5 hour drive on a weekday evening as an embarrassingly no-nothing novice interested in getting set up with a bow and arrows for some backyard archery. They took the painfully awkward experience of shopping for something you know almost nothing about, and made it downright enjoyable. Just a few of the things that stand out... - Super knowledgeable reps who freely share good, impartial advice: Like I said I literally know next to nothing about archery. I thought I wanted one setup, and after listening for a bit, my sales rep (politely) explained to me the flaws in my reasoning and suggested a different setup in a way which I understood and agreed with. While I was getting set up, my sales rep and others were just this incredible ocean of knowledge who would (unobtrusively) step in at exactly the right moment to give me tips. I had a hundred questions and threw out pretty much every single question I had out at my sales rep, and he tackled my questions one-by-one like it was the first time he had heard them before. - Zero sales pressure/BS upselling. I wanted an entry level compound bow. If you look up online reviews, etc. on the entry level bows, you might run across a bit of snobbery given many bows go into the thousands instead of hundreds. I expected a bit of sales pressure but there was none of that. I was proactively asking about upgrading accessories and my sales rep told me point blank it wasn't necessary for my situation. - Crazy, good customer service: I was buying one of their least expensive packages, but they treated me like a VIP. Thanks to weather I arrived pretty late, but these guys stayed FORTY MINUTES PAST CLOSING to make sure I was all set and had absolutely everything I needed. They easily could've rushed me to close up shop earlier, because a lot of that time was spent tuning my bow (I'm a freaking novice, would I have even noticed? heck no), but they didn't compromise on a damn thing and waited until I was 100% set. - Down-to-earth, funny as hell, class acts: It wasn't even just my sales rep. These are guys who have really have a passion and interest in what they sell, and I had great conversations with a few of them as my sales rep was away adjusting my bow. One of them kept my fiancé wildly entertained and impressed with his knowledge while my sales rep and I were off tuning, and now my fiancé can't stop talking about coming back to buy his own bow. Again, I'm pretty sure we kept ~5 of them forty minutes past closing which I felt horrible about, but we got nothing but smiles and well-wishes from all of them. These guys just do everything right. I'm starting off on (hopefully) a long and fruitful archery career and will never consider shopping anywhere else. LAS, I love you. This is the second time I've had a terrible experience here. I waited 45 minutes in line with a simple recurve bow build and I was going to purchase it. I needed maybe 5 minutes of someone's time. After waiting 40 minutes a salesman who was helping someone else finally acknowledged I existed and asked if I signed in. I had been in line on the floor pads asking you to wait there for 40 minutes right next to the guy. Noone had said anything. There were no signs or instructions about a sign in procedure and I had to leave the line, walk all the way across the store to a corner and ask a lady is she had a tablet that was hidden underneath her side of the desk. Even after getting it pointed out and asking her I want sure I was in the right place. I signed in and walked back to the line. I waited in line another 10 minutes or so. The two people working behind the counter finished with their guests...... And then LEFT and never came back. I finally put the bow back I'd been holding for nearly an hour waiting and walked out! And that's the second time, the first was back in July when there were was 1 other customer in the store and I couldn't get a single person to check on a bow for me. Their product and selection might be great but they have the worst service I've ever seen and I won't be going back there. Save your time and frustration and go anywhere else. read more

What a difference three months make. Recently I had two seperate interactions with Lancaster Archery Supply. My first was around Christmas and I was initially unaware that I was even dealing with LAS. I needed to buy some archery equipment and I had contacted TradTech Archery to see if they had what I needed in stock. They had what I need in stock, and were also able to help me with some questions that I had. Each e-mail was responded to with prompt professionalism and respect. I discovered before I made my purchase that TradTech and Lancaster Archery Supply are operated out of the same facility and owned by the same people. I was astounded at this since they were so different then what I had experienced from March to November. Then, this week, I was contacted by LAS about my experiences. They had researched my poor experience, apologized for it, and informed me the steps they had taken to prevent what happened from occuring again. I was very impressed with their actions, and how they reached out to me to discuss what occurred. I've been to several different archery supply shops throughout my lifetime in Pennsylvania & Massachusetts and nobody is better than Lancaster out of the places I've been to. Lancaster has a huge selection. Their prices are fair. I purchased a quiver on amazon that was only a few dollars cheaper than what was at Lancaster. Everything they sell seems to be quality. I love a good Easton quiver & they have an excellent selection with several colors to choose from unlike some places that might only carry the more popular colors. They do this with a lot of things too not just quivers. My boyfriend and I needed some assistance while we were there. We were extremely happy with the service we were given by an older gentleman. I don't remember his name I just remember he was older than most of the other staff & he was amazing. Extremely helpful and full of knowledge. This man knew his stuff. My boyfriend likes to ask people for recommendations on stuff & the associate has a recommendation to answer each of my boyfriend's questions. Full disclosure: I have never been to a pro archery shop before. I certainly have never benefited from the level of superb customer service and coaching Tony Chalfant provided me during my recent visit to Lancaster Archery. But a charity raffle landed me with a pretty nice compound, and I knew my amateurish DIY approach wouldn't cut it. I needed professional help in getting this bow outfitted and fine-tuned. Stepping into Lancaster Archery for the first time on a very busy Wednesday night, I was quite frankly blown away by the big, nice showroom (kid in a candy shop), the diversity of customers (all types and stripes of archer), and the energetic and knowledgeable crew of folks on staff that evening. Tony immediately got down to business, answering both my smart and stupid questions and guiding me in choosing among a bewildering array of drop away rests, top of the line sights, etc., etc. He set everything up in record time and then coached me through a few rounds of shooting at the in-store range. I'll admit, I was very nervous - I've only ever shot in very rural privacy. In the store, there were folks all around, and my nerves were definitely getting the best of me. Tony took it all in stride and exhibited a ton of humor and patience, which helped put me more at ease (at least a little bit). From start to finish, the process took just under two hours. That may sound like a long time, but considering just how many people were being waited on in the store, I consider it a minor miracle. And for that entire two hours, Tony never once neglected me or my bow. He's as pro as you can get, and I'm one grateful bow hunter. Our world of online shopping for everything can lull anybody into the trap of not seeking out the help of professionals. We may save time and some money, but the price we often pay is a lower quality setup, more bad shooting habits, and missing out on one hell of a cool store. I ordered a few items with LAS last week and one of the items was a Cartel finger tab for my recurve bow. The Cartel finger tap came but was missing a screw for attaching the finger spacer. I called LAS today hoping that they would send me the missing screws, but Troy, one of their Customer Service Rep, offered to ship me another finger tab. I heard this place was great so drove all the way from New York to buy a bow here. I was able to shoot the new Hoyt carbon, Matthews vertex, and TX5, which was great. I ended up going with the TX5. The guy who was setting up my bow took everything I picked out in the back and was gone for an hour+, came out to show me and went back in the back for another hour +. I was very patient because they were busy but it seemed like it was his first day on the job. I was there for 5 hours!! For the last 6 years I shot a Matthews creed with Easton FMJ arrows and wanted to stay with the same arrows on the new bow. They didn't have those arrows in stock and convinced me to go with an all carbon arrow, thinking they are the best (so I thought) i'll try his suggestion. BAD IDEA they weren't even the right arrows for the set up! When I started shooting the bow at home, it felt off. It wasn't like the bow I shot in the store. The bow was all over the place. My peep started to rotate so bad I couldn't shoot anymore! I was so pissed off, especially after I just spent $2300! I had to bring the (brand new) bow to my local bow shop and they couldn't believe how bad this bow was set up!! They were shocked to hear it came from Lancaster archery. The whole bow had to be redone!! Everything was wrong, even the arrows! Bow had to be restrung to get the peep to sit right! I will never go back to Lancaster archery, It was a complete waste of my time. Do yourself favor and steer clear of this place! read more

Mail order service is *terrible*. Would give them negative stars if I could. I ordered an item to be what I considered to be the best out of all the ones they had. It was listed as back ordered on their site, but they encourage you to order back ordered items by saying you can still order them and they will come. As if being back ordered is no big deal and they will handle things like this. Well, read on to see how they "handle" it. I placed my initial order on 4/29, the item was set to arrive on 5/28. Ok, that's kind of a long delivery for something I really, really need. Then I receive updates that my order has been changed to be delivered on 6/8, and then 6/13. And most recently they've changed it to 7/11. Seriously, two and a half months from time of order? And they encourage us to order backordered items like it's no big deal? Uhh sure thing skippy. At this rate hell will freeze over before I receive the most important item from my order, as they are likely to push the date out again. They'll probably try to weasel out of this by blaming the manufacturer, but the facts are - If this item is so popular they should be keeping up on stock to handle demand, calling the manufacturer to get their shipment bumped up, keeping extras on hand (after all, they know this item is popular yes?), and NOT encouraging people to order from them. They are quite evidently doing none of this, for there is none in stock for months. Yet their site is still urging people to purchase backordered items. Absolutely, positively terrible service for the end customer. Save yourself some trouble and order from 3riversarchery.com. I ordered some 60# Sage limbs from them and got them in a day or two, with regular shipping even. I feel like a sucker for ordering from Lancaster Archery supply. Living outside a city with any type of bow shop means they're always my first choice to have what I need in my living room 2000 miles away in a few days. I only have experience with this company through their online site and phone customer service. Recently purchased a bow riser and set of arms from them using their website. They have a pretty good selection and their sales staff were knowledgeable and helpful on the phone. I heard the in-store experience is even better than the online one. My only drawback with them is that their on-line products are sometimes out of stock and they let you purchase them with an estimated shipping date, however in my case their estimated shipping date was more than a month behind the actual date. A week or two late might have been reasonable but more than a month was too much. Update: It's now almost 8 weeks overdue with no response from their customer service yet, despite a couple emails. So had to downgrade my rating at least for their online sales. read more

A few months ago, I decided to get back into archery after a 20 year hiatus. This obviously led me to procuring the equipment needed. I bought a used bow from a friend of mine, but I needed a few accessories. I took this bow to LAS for a sight, quiver, and a few other odds and ends. The sales guy working with me did not guide me to the highest priced items, he guided me to something in line with the bow I brought in (older, good bow). I received top notch service, I did not feel rushed, and he answered all of the questions I had very thoroughly. I get the bow home, and everything is great! However, a friend accidently dry-fired the bow. As any archer knows, or has experienced, this can be catastrophic. The following week, I took the same bow up to be inspected for safety (it looked ok to me) by one of their professionals. Rather than telling me that the bow is in need of replacing, he points out a crack on the limb that I had missed, and explained that it should be ok. He didn't even charge me a service fee, which I gladly would have paid. Rather than risk it with this bow, I decided it would be best to get a new bow. The rep took a great amount of time to make sure I was set up properly, did not try to upsell me, answered all of my questions, and told me to bring it back up after a few hundred shots to check the timing. So basically, I had two trips to LAS recently. One was a trip where I was buying cheaper accessories for an older bow. The other trip I purchased a flagship bow from a major manufacturer. On BOTH trips, I received outstanding customer service! In addition to their amazing inventory, their service rep team is where LAS shines. I took the trip up here to purchase my first recurve bow, as my local archery shop has bad reviews from beginners and I wanted to go somewhere dedicated to archery, not a general sports store. I'm super happy I made that decision. I walked in about 30 mins before they closed, but the help I received wasn't rushed by any means. The guy who helped me (I don't remember his name) was fantastic; he asked me a few questions pertaining to my prior experience and preferences, and made some educated suggestions for what to get. He gave me very clear instructions when I did test shots with a couple of bows, and I walked out with a bow and some arrows I'm very happy and comfortable with.
