The worst dining experience ever! I wish I could rate this place as 0 star. We went to this place after hearing good feedback from others. We were seated after a 5 min wait. Not bad. Then our nightmare started: The waitress was not familiar with the menu and couldn't name all the available soups. So we just ordered the soup she can remember - chicken noodle, which I regreted later after the first sip. It was overcooked and there were just mushy noodles without any vege or chicken. I had to stop after the first sip. After 10 minutes, the manger came over asking about their food. After listening to my complaint, he said, "I've never heard any complaits about the soup this month. OK, it is on us. You don't need to pay for it." While we were waiting for the entry, the waitress did not serve the so-called "fresh-baked bread". My entry was TILAPIA BRUSCHETTA, and it turns out the fish had no flavour. I didn't finish. In the end, upon our request, another waitress (as we couldn't get a hold on ours)offered some rolls instead of the regular bread that other people were having on their tables. I felt like being treated like a begger. Then we got up to pay the bill. The cashier asked how's everthing. I held back trying not to explode. But she kept asking the question, I told her not so great. She then asked if we talked to the manger, we told her we did and we didn't get any discount. She said OK. WHY BOTHER ASKING?!!! I can honestly say that I am a fair judge who is normally easily pleased, but I can honestly say that we had the worst service experience here ever. We were here about a month ago on a Wednesday evening, and the waitress we had (I forget her name, but she had dark hair and looked about mid 30s-early 40s), was something else. She seemed really unprofessional and didn't talk like a waitress, she talked to all of her customers way too casually. Each time she came to our table, she was rude and would give us the impression that we were bothering her, even though we're definitely not "those customers" who need the waitress to bring us something every 5 minutes (my boyfriend and I had our share us restaurant working days, and we understand that is a huge nuisance). Then in the middle of eating dinner, we started noticing that she was trying to rush us out. Then after awhile, she came back and literally said to us "Are you guys going to be done soon? Or can you at least pay now so that I can go home? Sorry, I've been here all night and just want to leave." My boyfriend, who is a much better person than I am, felt bad and paid, but when I gave the waitress my most disgusted look, she then had the nerve to ask me if I thought it was rude of her to say what she said! I'm giving the restaurant only two stars, because I would feel bad to give an entire restaurant only one star due to one idiot working there when there are others who probably value their jobs there and the food wasn't too bad. But needless to say, I won't be coming back and will be sticking to my usuals at Meadows or Phily Diner. read more

The hostess and wait staff were gracious, attentive, and prompt. I just wish the kitchen staff was on par with them. I ordered a lunch special- chicken alfredo. The first bite was all gristle, and the whole dish was underseasoned, but I was willing to forgive it because of the low price and large portion size. What I could not forgive was the curly metallic shred of something that I found in my mouth. Thankfully I spit it out before swallowing. Always chew thoroughly, people! I go to the dinner often but I was thoroughly disgusted with my dinner last night. I ordered a Fried Seafood Combo and my seafood was still raw. The rude manager came over and seemed annoyed with me" the paying customer" that I was complaining. Bought the platter back out which was now overcooked and had such a a greasy flavor from being over fried!! The scallops were still raw in the middle. The manager came back over took the scallops and bought out new ones by that time I was so annoyed that and had lost my appetitie. He never apologized or seemed concerned. The really nice waiter Michael who was embarrased for his paying customers could not have been nicer. The booth directly behind me had the same problem with raw fish and the manager did not even come over to that booth and apologize. Dont know if I will be going back to the Lamp Post Dinner!!!! My husband and I love Lamp Post diner! We are a loyal customers because the food is always great and desserts are awesome. We have been served by probably more than half of the staff and have had great service from each and everyone. The hostesses and cashiers are always very pleasant. I love the spaciousness of diner. My mom insisted that we go here because their food is good but it had "diner" in the title so I didn't expect much. Wow, was I wrong! The service was great (although admittedly it was like 8pm). The food was fantastic! I had the chicken parmesan sandwich with curly fries and devoured all of it, which pretty much never happens. I brought home the strawberry shortcake and pumpkin cheesecake, both absolutely delightful! I thought the purpose of going out to dinner as a family was to eat together as a family. But I guess they don't think that way at the Lamp Post. My grouper cane out 7 minutes before my daughters pasta and wife's wrap. So I sent it back not for a reheat but for the kitchen to remake it. Bad idea as my wife and daughters entrees came out and they were finished before my reheat was returned (they did not make me a new plate just reheated it) to my surprise so I wasted 70.00 on crappy pasta with dry sauce a egg wrap and reheated grouper. When I spoke to the person in charge all I got was excuses ie were busy. While paying for an awful experience I mentioned the issues we had experienced and his response "maybe this is not the place for you". The Lamp Post feels like home...the friendly staff and warm and comfortable surroundings put you at ease right away.So many choices on the menu let you know you made the right choice.service is friendly and prompt beverage service is spot on,I have never had a bad meal here in my many visits by myself or with family . This was first visit to Lamp Post it was suggested by by brother in law which he has visited before and said they had several choices on their menu for a reasonable price. OK so I actually read all the reviews which is a normal before eating at any restaurant. We visited on Monday 1/9/2017 @ approximately about 730 pm. My husband and I took my 88 yr old mother in law along with my two brothers in laws. I was really displeased with the attitude of our waitress she was RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and appeared to have an issue with the interracial-ness of our family which I am Indian married to a Polish/ Irish man. They changed our waitress 3 times during our Vist which was ignorant! Our food was terrible the steak we ordered was overcooked and tasteless, the soup was barely warm , my mother in laws crab cakes were fried hard as a rock! Also to mention that we all ordered dessert OK first I had the absolute WORSE DRIEST piece of carrot cake ever .... I took one bite and darn! Yuck, yuck! My brother in law was served the wrong pie, the crust on my husbands lemon meringue pie was tough as rubber, mother inlaws ice cream was overloaded in whip cream , this was a sad experience. I could go on and on about the shock of the demeanor of not only the poor staff but the gross low quality food that is served at Lamp Post! I was actually thinking that the reviews that I read were posted by family members and just locals that lacked taste buds! We will NEVER RETURN OR REFER! I always give the fairest reviews because I appreciate honesty ,good food and good service. Being a small business owner myself I feel that it is imperative to provide great service with a SMILE! After dining at the Lamp Post Diner several times I find the service so- so, the food unoriginal and breakfast your best bet although don't get the grits. After several attempts my not cooked enough or downright watery! Depending on which server you get your meal can move right along pleasantly at a comfortable pace or the opposite. Horrific Service. My family and i wanted to go to this place since they opened and tonight finally had an opportunity. As we were greeted the greeter excused herself and helped another couple. Then as we finally got a table after waiting 15 min we had to flag down a waitress! We sat there for 20 min before we even got drinks! The service was horrible the food was decent but not amazing. Have gone here twice and haven't been impressed. The first visit was for lunch. I had French onion soup and a Greek salad. The soup came out with an orange layer of oil on it and was overly salty. The Greek salad was large but the dressing is hideous. They are not using a high grade olive oil and you can taste it. What little I used on the salad (I order on the side) just made the whole thing taste bitter and greasy. Neither dishes got finished. My son ordered corned beef and it was served cold but on toasted bread. The waitress disappeared and we had to track her down for the bill. The cashier is next to the bakery display and it looks lovely to the eye. We bought a single serve chocolate cream pie as a treat for later. It was awful. You could tell it was frozen and thawed. It lacked flavor and the whipped topping was inedible. Decided to try them again for dinner. We had wings, a chicken club and fish and chips. Again the flavors were bland. The facility is spacious and clean and owners friendly, but sadly GloTwp has more than its share of diners who do it better than this place is and Lamp Post will have to step up it's game to compete. read more

This is our hometown diner. When we go there, the wait isn't usually long and for the most part the wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Two weeks ago my husband, daughter and two grandkids went there to get lunch. As we walked in the door we were greeted and asked how many people in your party? I was thinking out loud and said 3 an.... The host promptly said "well you have two kids they count too you know." I thought I was being sensitive, however when we got to the table my husband said "wow guess you got told." The host didn't let me finish my thought. The food was mediocre which has become the norm at the LampPost and qualitycontrol from the expediters leaves a lot to be desired since our food was cold and flavorless. They have been in this town for four years and the food has gone downhill significantly. Given the lack of courtesy from the host and the food going downhill I don't see much hope in the LampPost making another four years. read more

Tastes like cafeteria food. We tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner to give it an honest try, but the food is so bland. I gave it two stars because the deserts are decent. Been here several times for breakfast and every experience has been a more than pleasurable experience. The French toast is absolutely excellent. Went there for lunch one day and got a bacon cheeseburger which was surprisingly really good. Haven't had too many good burgers from a diner but this is an exception. Here's an interesting situation. The place is in Gloucester Township and that's what they say in their ad. Why they would use an address that doesn't exist on the Internet is beyond me. The only problem is -- they don't tell you, you need to use another town's name - Clementon to find them. That happens in NJ frequently - the address by which they receive their mail, not the municipality they are actually in, is the address you have to use on the Internet. If they were customer friendly, they would fix this confusion by adding -- use "Clementon on the Internet" or in their address "Gloucester Township (Clementon)." Even on Yelp they are known by Clementon, so why wouldn't they use that in the ad? I was so aggravated I didn't go here. read more

This diner took over the spot which used to be Charlie Brown's, the Prospecters before that and ??? before that, seems nothing can ever "stick". They totally renovated the place. It has a natural stone and wood neutral decor, very clean and inviting. A new broom sweeps clean! I have been to this diner three times since it opened. The first time was opening week and we couldnt get in, the wait was too long. The second time I came with my kids, busy but good. Last night I came with my husband. This is a very well appointed diner. They have their specials, a nice selection of salads and the typical diner fare. My husband ordered a shrimp marinara type dish and I ordered an egg salad sandwich. We both liked what we had and will be going back for more. I am a vegetarian and during the last visit, I requested that they modify one of their dishes to suit my needs and they happily obliged. We live nearby and will be coming back often. I considere this place a replacement for cooking rather than a special occaision place. Afterall it is a Jersey Diner! read more
