I absolutely loved everything about this place! This was some of the best wood fired pizza I have ever had. Our server, Kristina, is an absolute GEM! The restaurant itself is quaint, not huge which is nice. They have a good share of outside tables as well. There were 5 of us in the party and we ordered 4 pizzas, only my brother-in-law and I split a pizza between us. So when we left, we ended up with the equivalent of 2 full pizza, so we put a good hurt on the 4 that we ordered. I was in the best seat as I could see the work that they were doing in the "kitchen" so to speak. They were a machine, 3 to 4 guys preparing the pizzas and I think the owner, was operating the oven the whole time. They were cranking out the pizza like crazy! I had asked Kristina how many pizzas they put out a day, she said she was told 190 on a typical day, much higher than that I guess on the weekends. Kristina, what can I say about our server. She was the best. When we ordered, no paper, no electronic device, all memory. And I watched her enter the order in the touchscreen computer, and it was amazing. Just blazing fast, and accurate at the same time. She kept checking on us to make sure if we needed anything during our stay. We ordered a white pizza, margarita, one margarita with onion and pepperoni and a Kicker. I only had the Kicker and margarita with the pepperoni and onion, they were so damn good! Of course, the kicker was the spicy one. And I am glad I did not put any crushed red on my first slice because it was just spicy enough. I like my hot food, but this was delicious as it. Tip: Skip the wait and just eat at the bar. We wish we would've done that. We read the reviews and understood it could be a long wait. And it was. 1.5 hours. I would never wait that long to eat in normal circumstances, but when I'm on vacation, my tolerance for waiting goes up. You just gotta have the right mindset. We were originally quoted about 45 minutes, so we walked around the mall, but there's really not much to check out so we returned to the restaurant and grabbed a spot at the bar for drinks. Unfortunately, our phone was on silent (our fault) so we missed the "table is ready call" by about 5 minutes. So even though we were physically at the restaurant, our table was given away. We did not hear anyone call out our name at the restaurant either. I don't think we were necessarily put back on the bottom of the list, but it felt like it, as we had to wait another 45 minutes. Waiting aside, we at least enjoyed the meal. The pizzas had a nice crispy bottom and good toppings. We also visited Pizza Bianca this trip, and preferred that. Ironically, we went to LAMP because we were worried that the wait at Bianca would be too long. But we were seated immediately at Bianca. Go figure! Our family came by on a Sunday evening for dinner. It was beyond busy as it took us over an hour and a half to finally be seated. Nice and cozy ambiance made for an enjoyable vibe. Waitress promptly brought us menus and gave us good recommendations. Started off with the tomato mozzarella salad, Piumini di Mozz (cheese puffs), and meatballs. The cheese puffs were delicious! Could have just ate these again as an entree somehow. For our pies, we went with OG pepperonis with additional toppings. Pizzas were well done and tasted great. Ended our meal with a marshmallow shake and the ricotta cheesecake. Perfect way to end our meal. Good food and great service paved the way for an eventual return for us. Be ready for a wait, but the food was worth it. We got there at 7:30 on a Friday night and were quoted a 45 minute wait. I do wish they took reservations, but the restaurant is small so they would probably book up pretty far. We were able to wait at the little bar area, which helped pass the time. We started with the cheese puffs, which reminded us of Red Lobster rolls, but more sophisticated. The marinara and ranch were both delicious. The ranch especially stood out because it is unique and very peppery. Both pizzas were good, but I think my favorite was the Stacy's Mom. I loved the spice from the salami because it had just the right kick. Our waitress was awesome and even moved us inside since it was a rare chilly night in Arizona. It has taken me entirely too long to get back to LAMP! This is the BEST pizza in the valley for sure. I was in a group of 3, and we arrived around 5:30 on Saturday evening. We waited about 30 min for a table. There isn't much seating for the waiting area, and a lot of the area businesses were closed, so we walked to Starbucks and waited there. The three of us shared the zucchini cakes (obviously - these are a non-negotiable if you're going to LAMP) and two pizzas. The zucchini cakes are fresh, crispy, and flavorful. I'm obsessed. For the pizzas, we opted for one white and one red. We got the Gem - a red pizza with pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, garlic, and oregano. It was SO good. There's hardly and grease, so no blotting necessary. For our white pizza, we got the Kensington - figs, goat cheese, and arugula. You can add prosciutto, which we did. It was amazing. We also got a size of balsamic vinegar, and that took the Kensington to the next level. Service was great. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

We hope that this place doesn't get overrun with more customers than it already is! The pizza is that good and the salads are way better than they sound on the menu. We had the red grape, Gorgonzola and pine nut salad - well that name and description makes it sound like it doesn't have many greens because they don't even mention the greens... yet it's mostly greens and that's good (!) and the amount of dressing, grapes, Gorgonzola and pine nuts was just about perfect. It came with two slices of lightly grilled Italian bread with a tiny bit of olive oil on them. It was a really fantastic salad and I would say enough for three maybe four people to share as a starter if you have anything else before pizza. There were three pizzas ordered in our group. * mushroom, it was good but pretty plain, it really it needed more flavor * one of the red 'zas with pepperoni, maybe two kinds one of them - one spicy. That was much more flavorful than the mushroom. * our favorite a white 'za with LAMP sausage, caramelized onion jam and gorgonzola. Totally amazing, full of flavor - definitely the best one on the table by far. We didn't need dessert yet a couple of separate scoops of salted caramel and double chocolate gelato were ordered. The double chocolate was very intense in flavor and firm as one would expect more so with an actual ice cream. The sea salt caramel was soft and almost like very thick sour cream at the most - it was like cream at the edges maybe it sat out too long or maybe it has too much sugar and it doesn't freeze well. It was really sweet and we had to put salt on it in order to balance out the flavors. With that said it was fantastic flavor although still a little too soft a texture for my liking. The gelato were served with a very strongly flavored chewy and very nice almond cookie. Not a crisp almond cookie like they give you a Chinese restaurant - a chewy one that was almost a bright yellow color. Service was outstanding. Luckily we sat in the back in a half circle booth, more elongated than a half circle actually, the only problem with that spot was that it was right across the back door and when the door opens you get really cold or you would get really hot in the summer. Other than that it was nice to have a little buffer from the sound because it was somewhat loud in there, but not too bad. We will definitely return! read more

WOW. Service was good..... They were BUSY. Even at 4:30 in the afternoon. I took the yelp reviews advice and ordered the Geppetto. Did not dissappoint! Hands down my favorite pizza flavors ever. Of course this is subjective to your tastes of what you want on a pizza, but it was well made with lots of yummy toppings and the crew worked like a well oiled machine to get it out. So pick your favorite toppings and I can't imagine you won't love it. (You have to at least get one with their house made sausage!!) They might be infused with crack because you don't want to stop eating them. It's highly suspicious because they have found a way to make eating vegetables so enjoyable. I'm not particularly a fan of olives but I enjoyed these ones. The saltiness is always satisfying. The chunky pesto served with bread was a great appetizer too. As far as pizza goes, the Kensington was by far my favorite. My friend ordered half with prosciutto on it for me and half without. Everything about it was perfection down to the "pizza bone"/crust! My husband and I shared the Gem, which was covered in Lamp Sicilian sausage, pepperoni, ricotta, garlic and oregano. I'm always a sucker for ricotta so of course we ordered this red sauce one. Lamp pizzeria is hands down one of the best pizza places I have ever been to in the Valley. The food is absolutely amazing and every bite is bursting with flavor. The pizza is cooked to perfection with a crispy crust and delicious toppings that are fresh and flavorful. The pizza is wood fired but doesnt flop down as you tried to eat it, like some Napoletano pizzas. The crust is sturdy and crunchy all the way through, and has a back bone lol. We tried the Margehrita, Stacy's Mom, and the Gepetto. The Gepetto is a white pizza with Gorgonzola, onion marmalade and their made in house sausage, this is one of the best pizzas my taste buds have had the pleasure of tasting. Mind blown!!!!! Not only is the pizza incredible, but the rest of the menu is also outstanding. The zucchini cakes were delicious and unique, the Mike's bread loaf, a whole loaf of fresh focaccia bread, was unbelievable. We made it back to celebrate a great visit with my oncologist, and I have to say that I love the updates!! The booth seating is so much more comfortable. Not to mention they look great!! Last night was our second time in! Here's some highlights from both experiences. TLDR; flavor combos are everything, the crust isn't consistent, the hype isn't worth the wait. Our first time in we sat on the patio we showed up a little before 4pm and got seated right away. The servers are friendly however really slow. It took forever to get things. Whether a refill, turn on the patio heater, and so on. There were times we actually had to get up and ask different people to help us out. We studied the menu before hand so that right when the waiter came we were able to order our pizzas right away. We went to Lamp pizzeria and I can honestly say that this is the best pizza restaurant in North Scottsdale! The restaurant is a bit small on the inside, so I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time. Otherwise there is a bit of a way, but once you start eating the food, you'll understand why. All of the handmade brick oven pizzas have some of the most unique pizza toppings you will ever see. The Benny pizza with speck (similar to prosciutto) pizza was my personal favorite, but honestly you can't go wrong here. I recommend ordering 1 pizza per person and we were a group of 3 people so we had 3 different pizzas and share amongst each other. The male server tonight was so dismissive and rude. We asked for a refill on water and diet coke and he looked at us like we had 2 heads. Not sure why he had a problem with it, as we didn't ask him for anything else the whole time other than when the bill came. We had told him to put it on two separate bills, and he brought us one bill. He was completely put out by the fact that we wanted him to change it. He was rude about it. LAMP is a tricky review for me. I've been here a few times now so I feel confident in leaving my honest review. I'll start with the service. I'll preface by mentioning LAMP gets super busy quick, so expect a wait. The host team are all super friendly and try to get you seated as quickly as they can. If you're not there by open, you can expect a wait. Fortunately there is a standing bar area where you can order a drink and kill some time. Once seated, and this has happened every time for me, we just sit there. Maybe five-ten minutes go by before anyone acknowledges us. During my last visit we legit were at the table 10 mins before I was able to order a drink. Though the servers are very friendly, they have no sense of urgency. This all makes each of my experiences very impersonal. LAMP consistently proves that creating a personable experience for each guest is not a priority. Once it's time to order, expect another LONG wait for your food to come. I recommend choosing your food items before you get seated. LAMP has awesome flavor combinations with a wide choice of pizza options. Every pizza combination I have tried is good. My big complaint about their pizza is the inconsistency. We ordered three pizzas, each pizza had a different level of how cooked it was. Mine was fine, the other two were burnt and extra burnt. It sucks getting to the crust and choosing to not eat it since it's basically a cracker stick. Overall, LAMP has potential to me, it just lacks a lot in some personally important areas. The hype around LAMP is craaaazy! But after trying it, I get it. The neighborhood goes crazy for LAMP, so much so that if you want to place an order to-go, you have to call right when they open at 4pm to be able to pick-up your pizza between 6 and 7pm. I gotta say though, it's worth it! The pizza is thin neapolitan style that's cooked in a wood oven. The top gets bubbly and crispy, but the base can be a little floppy. The scientist was probably my favorite that we tried! It's made with three different kinds of salami and green olives. It added the perfect spicy and salty element to the pizza. A close second was the stacy's mom - this is a white pizza topped with garlic, ricotta, and spicy salami. So creamy but still light! Keep in mind, the pizzas are on the smaller side, plus with being so thin, you might want to add one extra za to your usual order! The pepperoni was so fresh. I love it when the ends of the pepperoni curl up in the heat. The crust was a hand tossed version, not too flat and not too doughy. So good. Reservations are not accepted but it sounded like they might have a wait list? We just walked in and waited about 30 minutes. They do have outside seating with heaters for chilly nights. This has been on our want to go list for a while. We had tried a few years ago and somehow ended up at a place across the way thinking we were where we had wanted to go. It was a Friday night and they opened at 4 and we got there at 5:00 and it was already packed and had a waiting list. There were 4 of us and they said about a 45 minute wait. My husband had Jesse's Girl which has meatball, ricotta and red peppers. I ordered a white pizza called Stacey's mom. I don't usually order white pizza because I love a good marinara sauce. But the best pizza we have ever had was a white pizza in Venice Italy so I thought I would give it a try. It comes with ricotta and garlic and I added spicy Calabrese salami.(I love spicy and my husband is Calabrese). The white pizza was the winner of the night. I would definitely reorder it. The crust is amazing and cooked perfectly. We ordered the two pizzas because we wanted leftover for breakfast. It tastes as good this morning as it did last night. We also had the Grape and Gorgonzola salad. That is a winner too. Lots of grapes and plenty of toasted pine nuts mixed in with the Gorgonzola and mixed greens and basil. We heard it gets busy, so we came early and arrived around 4:45 (they open at 4) and were pleasantly surprised with how packed it was!!! Thankfully there were still a couple tables open and we were seated immediately!! For our starter, we ordered the zucchini cakes. They were surprisingly good! There was a pesto aioli on top that gave the dish great flavor. For pizzas, we got The Gem and Rapini. Both were absolutely delicious!!! The thin crust on the bottom didn't have too much flop, which can happen with Naples style pizza. The crust was perfectly crisp and chewy. For the pizzas, I probably preferred the gem but was pleasantly surprised with how the flavors of the pine nuts and caramelized onions elevated the rapini. Next time, I would probably add sausage to the rapini. I will for sure be back to try some other pizzas!! read more
