I had the pleasure of getting married at the Metropolis Ballroom. My experience for the whole event…read morewas very positive. Here is my breakdown of my experience with The Metropolis Ballroom: Planner Extraordinaire - Lauren Lauren is a very friendly and professional Planner. She is very organized and open when getting in contact with her. She gave us the feeling that everything would be taken care of which it was. She helped us go through the steps also helped us organize on how the procession would occur during our special day. Due to some circumstances, she was unable to see the culmination of her work with us but she made sure we were taken care of for the big day. Venue The Metropolis Ballroom venue makes up the whole 2nd floor of the building. They have elevator access to the 2nd floor. There is a bridal suite which as access to the balcony. There is an axillary room across the bridal suite which the cocktail hour is help. There are plenty of room along with comfortable seating areas. The main reception hall has a nice open space with a high ceiling, for to which we had 12 tables and enough room for a dance floor. The balcony is also accessible from the main reception area and allows you to enjoy part of downtown Arlington Heights where a fountain is visible and if you have your wedding at a certain time, you can have an appearance of Santa Claus in in the grassy area across the way. The staff had placed some outdoor activities if we chose to go out (i.e. cornhole). they had some They also had some tables and lighting outside in case they guest would like to step out and enjoy the great weather we had during our wedding. Staff The Metropolis Ballroom has a wonderful staff that made our wedding day very special. Even though Lauren was unable to be at the wedding, we felt we were very taken care of from the whole staff. Kenny was really helpful in coordinating with everyone. He was also the go to person for the head table whenever we needed anything. The wait staff is really extraordinary. I really have to tip my hat off to all of them. Each were very friendly and also attentive. The bartender was friendly and did a great job keeping the party going. Everyone made us feel welcomed. The kitchen did a wonderful job with the food for our wedding. I even had a lot of people comment on how they really enjoyed the food. To me, the preparation and taste was perfect. We had some people who had some dietary issues which they did accommodated for. The kids seem to really enjoy the food that they got, even giving some of the adults at their table jealous. Food You do have different options on how to proceed with how the food come out. We choose to have each person have a plated service compared to a buffet style reception. I am going to bring some highlights of the food we got. Roasted tomato soup chaser - a very well done soup accompanied with a mini grilled cheese. Chicken breast Champagne - recommended as one of the more popular dishes and there is a reason why. The chicken is moist and accompanied with a wonderful sauce which goes with a lot of the sides. Carrot Cake - a very well done carrot cake. The cake itself is moist and the frosting was perfectly balanced. It is one of my favorite carrot cakes I have eaten. All of the other food we got were delicious also, but I am unable to go through them all due to the limit on what I can type. Overall My experience was extraordinary. To me the whole company did a wonderful job in making my wedding reception special. From the planning to the actual event was a great experience. Though I have not attended any other events at the Metropolis Ballroom, I would recommend planning there for special occasions. With the care and details they worked with us during our special day, it was a pleasure working with them.

I was excited to support the local high school's madrigal performance--they were a 5 star act--but the supporting dinner around it was not what I imagined from the Metropolis. 1st service was mulled cider and 2 people at our table were missed so my boyfriend had to flag someone down to get the last 2 mugs filled. (The cider itself was delicious!) The tomato soup and bread course was good, although the soups were served at the same table at varying temperatures. I ordered the chicken for our party of 4 and that was pretty good. I did hear a high school student at the head table ask his parents if they could stop at Culver's on the way home because his chicken was not cooked. The dessert was pretty good, although I do not remember what it is by now. The soft drinks were grab and go cans laid out on the bar over ice. I had no problem with that choice, it was just a little unclear at first if the cans were included with our ticket or not. The coat check staff was quick and efficient. As someone who is not married yet, I had always thought about the Metropolis Ballroom as a possible venue, but after my latest experience, I would probably not consider them in the future.

The outdorr grounds has a large variety of flowerbeds, a pavilion, a butterfly garden, and a wooden gazebo. I have been to several events hosted by the park district or private. All the plants were neonictinoid-free, , making them 100% safe for local pollinators and birds. Plants were 3 for $15 . The proceeds from the plant sale go directly toward supporting the Mt. Walked all over this park on a sunny Sunday morning with my sister!…read more This place is around 10-15 minutes away from my house and I know people who've been to it, but I never got the chance to check it out! It's a small, quaint park perfect for walking with a circular path along the park. There's 2 jungle gym parks for kids across the field, as well! My sister and I did countless loops since this park is a bit on the smaller side. The parking situation is great, too - there's plenty of parking available by the conservatory and the park. The little conservatory was closed when we came, but I definitely wanna come back and check it out! The park's trail goes right by it. There's also a church right next to it, so I saw cute old couples and families with kids still in their church clothes walking around and playing at the park. I'd definitely come back here for a picnic at the park, a nice stroll, or to check out the conservatory!

We had such a positive experience and everyone was amazing at answering my questions, because of course, I had a lot of them. Joyce and Tina were my regular contacts, and we would email back and forth about anything I needed or inquired about. My husband and I knew Meridian was the perfect venue for our wedding because 1) it has a huge hall and welcome area 2) the rooms all have gorgeous chandeliers that make the room look extremely elegant 3) the prices were great and we could have filet mignon and chicken together as a combination plate cheaper than most places with just one protein choice 4) it used to be a movie theater, so there are different rooms and wings of the venue itself. There is even an aerial view for the photographer to get pictures in the old projection room above the dancefloor. Because we had our wedding ceremony at the venue, too, the staff eagerly created a chapel-like room for us so that we didn't need to get married in our reception room (something I was against). We did have to pay a bit more for the extra room, but it was extremely worth it for the outcome. They gave us complimentary uplighting in the ceremony room, as well as in the reception room, and we chose a light blue color. We also were able to choose the color of our satin napkins, and we chose burgundy since our wedding colors were navy blue and burgundy. On our wedding day, the food was amazing and we have gotten many compliments about how great everything was. People have told us that it was the best food they had at a wedding, which makes me so happy. We chose to do the combination plate of filet mignon and chicken Vesuvio for the non-vegetarian plate, though we changed the sauce the filet mignon came with to the peppercorn one. It was amazing, and I would know because I made sure to eat at our wedding. We also chose to have glazed baby carrots which were absolutely to die for in my opinion because they had a brown sugar/maple syrup glaze. As much as I enjoyed all of the food, our soup was hands down the best part because we chose the cream of chicken and it was SO THICK and creamy. YUM! Our service at our wedding was awesome, and everyone was so nice and helpful. If we had to do our wedding again, I would still choose the Meridian because they helped us feel so comfortable. We also were planning a wedding during the unknowns of the COVID pandemic, so that was extremely stressful because they had no idea what our wedding would look like, either, but thankfully we did not need to change our date or change ANYTHING we planned for our wedding at all. They also partner with The Baking Institute for wedding cakes and we were so impressed with ours! It was amazing and they decorated it EXACTLY how we wanted it to be decorated.

What a relief to have such an important event go so smoothly both times. The first event I attended was a wedding and the second event was a wedding shower. Both events had a nice flow throughout the event with the food & drinks arriving on time and the temperature of the food was perfect. The manager (Joyce) of the Wedding Shower I attended on Sunday was so helpful through every stage of the Event. Joyce made sure that we were completely satisfied with everything from the seating arrangements to the temperature of the food & drinks. She never once disappeared or slacked off. I was helping to organized the event so she made my job super easy. I was glad that I chose Garden Terrace by the day's end. I will certainly choose Garden Terrace Banquets for any future events I have requiring a Banquet Hall. Not only was the food great but the prices were very reasonable and much less than their competitors. Kudos to the staff for making our day!

Don't judge a book by its cover with this place! I had my wedding reception at Garden Terrace…read moreBanquets. The room is not your typical shoe-box type banquet room. The ceilings are lower, which gives it a cozy feeling, and the room comfortably accommodates 200 people. Our wedding had about 130 people, and that felt very comfortable with 6-8 people per table. There are windows on two sides of the room, and a small patio for guests who needed to get some fresh air! The staff at Garden Terrace are great to work with and extremely flexible. They offer very basic chair covers and centerpieces to use at your event, but were willing to let me bring in my own centerpiece arrangements, as well as chairs. I told them how I wanted everything set up, and they made sure it happened. We went with a station buffet, and got to pick every kind of food for each station. We were also able to add in some premium spirits to our well-beverage open bar (Premium vodka & whiskey) without having to upgrade to another package which was a huge money saver. There is a small pond/gazebo to take pictures outside, and it worked very well for our 12 Person Bridal Party. The only not so stellar thing about this venue is that it is attached to a Park District Building. In the same hallway as the bathroom, there was an entrance to an auxiliary gym, so it felt a little less than formal. However, it was very nice to have the complete attention of the venue, without having multiple weddings going on like at most Banquet Halls. The pricing is very competitive, if not a smidge better than surrounding venues. If you don't want to break the bank, but want to keep your wedding in the suburbs of Chicago, consider Garden Terrace for your event!
