Everywhere I looked I saw a previously unseen detail that was hand crafted and worthy of further investigation. *The outside deck: spanned the whole length of the home which overlooks the Colorado River basin & wide open skies. There are 4 separate seating areas which allowed us to spread out in a number of small conversation groups - one space has a lovely gas fire table! Or more of us could gather together in the larger spaces. *Wildlife! - butterflies, birds, humming birds and more - a flurry of activity to watch and enjoy... *There was also a hammock under the beautiful canopy of a tree strung with fairly lights... it called to me and I answered it's call! *Sleeping accommodations : All were unique and well appointed. Each bedroom has it's own cozy covered porch and full bathroom. There are futons in the loft which we also made use of. The loft area also has a space that is set up for working - if you have to log in to work while you are there. *For this particular weekend, the WWR owners had made us a deal for three meals a day at a fair price. It was a wonderful perk to not have to cook, nor leave the property! All the way around, the hosts were amazing! *It was rainy the weekend we were there, so we didn't spend time at the pool / outdoor tiki bar area.... but we will next time! Looking forward to it !

Wedding venue of my dreams. If you are looking for a venue where you have to do minimal touches…read morebecause the venue itself in its natural state is already so beautiful, then you've found it. Every detail of this place is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I were married here in April 2024 and we seriously talk about this venue and all of its magic at least once a week since then. We wanted to have a small intimate gathering that had a very organic look. In the spring, this place really comes to life, the birds, the butterflies, the way the light shines through the windows in La Casa De Joy, everything felt like a fairytale. The venue is tucked away in a sweet lakeside neighborhood as well so the drive there in the spring is country roads lined with wildflowers and bluebonnets which was an added plus. We rented the entire venue and had some guests stay in the other houses on the property while we stayed in La Casa De Joy and everyone absolutely loved it. We heard nothing but positive things from every guest. Such a unique venue. Not to mention, Travis, the property manager was an absolute delight to work with. Really so so kind and understanding of our wants and needs and was truly there to answer any questions we had. We will definitely be coming back to relive our wedding day each year with a stay at La Casa De Joy. Truly such a gem of an experience. My highest recommendations to anyone looking to relax, reconnect, breathe and just be present. Go to this place!!

There are some spots of the location that are spotty in service but you are basically camping so that's somewhat expected though they do have wifi you can connect to! From my experience there wasn't a physical desk or reception desk to check-in so you would have to contact the hotel by call or text where they provide the information to you. I will mention that I thoroughly appreciate their customer service through text when we needed something or asked for clarity. Incredibly attentive and so helpful! Really made the experience memorable because of it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the lookout, the games, plenty of seating, private chairs/hammock, activities around, personal space of acres, etc. We would absolutely will come back again! One thing to note: There were a lot of trails which we LOVE so many ways to explore but some of the trails aren't marked or have markings/on the map so it wasn't clear if it was meant to be walked through

This is definitely glamping for people who don't enjoy camping. ;) The inside had a cozy bed in what I would call a "living area" and behind it was a full bathroom with hot water in the shower. The toilet was not connected to central plumbing (unsurprising), so you are NOT allowed to flush toilet paper or anything other than human waste. Just FYI on that! It had its own AC system so we were able to crank it down to our usual bedtime temperature of 67 degrees to enjoy a peaceful sleep. It also had a mini fridge with some water and a couple beers. Snacks on the counter for us to enjoy. A cute little "camping" coffee system along with instructions on how to use it. Card games that my husband and I played together one evening. Yoga mats! And a sheet to help you practice different yoga poses. A record player that actually works and so much more!!! It seriously was a luxurious experience out in the middle of nowhere. The site also has an outdoor game area (giant Connect 4, ladder golf, etc), hiking trails and event a labyrinth to go explore! We closed the curtains to the giant window at night because the moonlight was BRIGHT, plus we didn't want the possibility of people being able to watch us while sleeping. Creepy! Although the only interactions we had with people while staying here was one evening at the community game area we saw a family leaving as we approached the area to play giant Connect Four. Then we heard our neighbors in the dome next door chatting later that evening. Otherwise, it was pretty empty! Granted, our stay occurred on a Sunday through Tuesday in October. Our dome had a plunge pool on its private patio, although it was still cold in October, but we used it anyways. 10/10 recommend booking a weekend trip here if you're looking to get out in nature and relax but still want to enjoy the comforts that life has to offer.

The area it is in is gorgeous and was not expecting to feel like I was in a different world. Appetizers that were supplied for the wedding were great, but I thought the main meal was kind of lacking and kind of inconsistent. I understand it's hard to cater for that many guests though. Most staff were pleasant and welcoming but had a couple of experiences where we felt very rushed and herded around the property. Despite my concerns this is definitely a special place to get married and a gem on this side of Austin! Lalala, Bob B.

The hospitality is very nice and friendly. The cafe uses high quality ingredients and the food is really delicious. We were there on a Thursday' night which was nice for the half priced bottles of wine all day. Well crafted cocktails are also available too. For food we dined on: Cold pressed watermelon - cold dense watermelon packed with sweet flavor contrasted against savory cheese and nuts. Really liked this dish. Little gem salad - simple but perfectly balanced flavors. Fresh. Crisp. Refreshing. Heirloom tomatoes - ripe tomatoes simply dressed with olive oil and salt. Crab cakes - these were tasty with a great sauce and pepitas. Steak - perfectly cooked to temp and served with grilled tomatoes. We were hoping for the duck confit which I've heard is incredible but they were old out for the day. They are open for lunch as well and brunch on the weekends (that menu looks good!). Our cottage, the Tritch, had two separate bedrooms, and I appreciated the privacy and spaciousness it offered. The cottage came fully stocked with everything to cook on site, but the location is close enough to both Johnson City downtown and Hye, if you prefer to dine out, shop, or hit the wineries. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They really thought of all of the little details, including providing fresh chicken eggs(!!), popcorn, ice cream, oatmeal, granola bars, and coffee and tea. There was a communal fire pit, which we enjoyed using at night, and an enclosed puppy park area for pet owners. They also have a beautiful event venue near the front of the property, if you are looking to celebrate something with our without on site lodging. There was an outdoor sitting area just outside of our cottage, where I was able to enjoy my morning beverage in nature. Last but not least, they included free wine tasting certificates in the cottage as an added bonus, score! The feel at Wrenwood Ranch is warm and welcoming, but the separate cottages give you as much privacy as you want. We went into Johnson City and Hye a few times over the course of the weekend, and we were never bored. That being said - we called 4 times on Tues 6/3 to cancel our reservations for 1 overnight 6/8-6/9 because our daughter got covid. Not only was it not canceled, but we were charged $395 for a 1 night stay (effectively paying for 2 nights but only getting 1). When I spoke to the owner, Amy, I told her that we had canceled last week and asked why our card was still charged. I was told that the cancellation policy is 10 days in advance. I informed her that we were not told that at the time of cancellation nor did we receive a cancellation email. Had we known about this policy, we would have given the reservation to my MIL, who was currently in the hill country. She stated that it is on the original bill as well as the cancellation email (we did not get any cancellation email). I asked her to foward me the cancellation email she sent. I am still waiting for that. Very disappointed in both the communication as well as this policy. Emergencies happen, so should compassion. $400 is a lot of money for 1 night. As charming as this place is, we will not be going back and will not recommend.

We booked the King Alexander room, but were changed last minute to the Queen Elizabeth. We are on the tail end of a getaway weekend, so we wanted to rest and relax on our last night, before we go home. Pros - We were the only ones there, so it was nice and quiet. The beds were very comfortable. Cons - We were the only ones there, and had no one to help answer questions about the town, or help us when we couldn't get our TV to work (football games). We brought a sound machine, but had we not... you would be able to hear EVERYTHING in that house. Also, there was quite a bit of lights from the front of the house (outside) that flood the room at night. It was very bright. My biggest frustration came with the service. Usually they serve breakfast, but because the owner (I think?) was injured we got vouchers to the Bluebonnet cafe... sounds great ... except it's closed until January 2nd. We rely on yelp for quite a bit, but it would have been nice to have a human around to give recommendations of another local place to eat. It just wasn't a very traditional B&B experience. Everyone who left reviews said how awesome the food was ... and we left with empty stomachs. What a bummer! We ended up just packing up and heading back home. I certainly feel like I overpaid for what I got out of this experience. All in all... we were able to relax on our last night, and the B&B was very clean and cute. But I think next time we will just stay in Fredericksburg another evening.
