On the surface everything looked great and almost too good to be true and that was exactly the case with our experience. Not one month after owning the car we started experiencing issues that were likely always there just were "bandaided" enough to sell "like-new". Spent over $9k and then had to spend another $5k just a few months later on a complete Engine Replacement! Ford said the issue has been progressively getting worse over the past years well before we bought the car. One thing that I still can't get over is the sketchy tactic the Lady working there did to us where she asked me to go out and inspect the car for something which took a couple minutes and by the time I got back in she had my girlfriend signing a bunch of papers before I could read the fine print which sealed the deal. My instant feeling was that she planned that to get me outta there so I wouldn't ask any additional important questions. She wanted us out the door as fast as possible especially after I started asking questions that she "didn't know the answer to". The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is because they promised 2 keys and only gave us one. When we went back for the second key a few days later the Lady said "looks like there was actually only one" which she was gonna make us pay for however I talked to the owner and he said it shoulda came with 2 so they had one made for us at their expense. Again tho the Sales Lady tried to play it off like she didn't know even tho she clearly did. Luckily the owner salvaged a star by paying for the 2nd key at around $100. Overall definitely not happy with this place even after we did tons of research on the car. Bottom line, ALWAYS ASK TONS OF QUESTIONS, these people talk fast and are just looking to make a quick buck, or rather couple thousand bucks, with little to no trust that you're getting what you thought you paid for. I purchased a vehicle from Lakeside for $16K+. I believe they hid the failure of the Side Detection System (SDS) at the time of sale ($1400+ to fix). It is my belief, that Lakeside knowingly concealed this defect by keeping the vehicle running during the test drive and at pickup. The SDS warning can be temporarily disabled with a button. Within 5-10 minutes of leaving Lakeside, multiple warning messages appeared (Low Tire, Air Bag, Side Detection System, etc.). I immediately returned and informed Lakeside that the vehicle did not feel safe to drive. GM documentation confirms that these simultaneous error messages and inability to start the car are consistent with SDS electrical failure. Once taken home, the vehicle would only start intermittently and produced numerous electrical errors. Despite repeated requests for assistance over several months, Lakeside has failed to repair or resolve this issue. The SDS defect existed at the time of sale, was not disclosed, and rendered the vehicle unreliable and unsafe. They will not fix it or reimburse me. read more

I bought a 2013 Lincoln Mkz from them and it's been nothing but issues I have it inspected and my trunk is leaking water ( so when it rains the trunk gets full of water and it's already rusting ) So they promised to fix it along with the other basic maintenance stuff they should have done before selling the car like an oil change etc etc but they didn't . So now I pick my car up from them having it for a week . My trunk is still full of water and my mirror is now shattered along with paint missing on my trunk now . They forgot to take the deposit for the car as well so they called me and got my credit card information and without telling me charged me 100$ for a service fee . When I called back to let them know they didn't mention a service fee charge being put on my card without telling me . I mentioned they can't do that and I need my money back and nothing . So not only do I have a trunk that leaks, I have bad breaks, struts need to replaced , front axels need to be replaced The rear differential needs to be serviced as well They promised to make it better and they didn't . Learn from my $13,000 mistake. Please, read everything before you sign anything. I bought a car from this dealership and it's been nothing but problems. The salesman claimed he was military and said he couldn't sleep at night selling someone a bad car--which made me feel like I could trust him--but shortly after driving off the lot, all the warning lights came on and the battery needed to be replaced. They wouldn't even look at the car until I signed more paperwork. Then I found out the alternator had been replaced twice, which was never disclosed, and they didn't do a proper pressure test, which would've shown a leak and a blown head gasket. And here's the worst part: they told me the car came with a warranty, but the fine print in the paperwork actually waives it once you sign. One page says you have a warranty, and the next takes it back. This place is shady and dishonest. Please don't make the same mistake I did--there are much better dealerships out there. This is such the case at LAKESIDE AUTOMOTIVE. My brother and I bought a vehicle that was supposed to be fixed before we left, which they said they did. However, the Warranty they sold us which they said was good for 40,000 miles or three years really was not, because there was this tiny print that was not checked about seals and gaskets, which they had just fixed, knowing that if it failed again it would not be covered. Because it was already over the mileage, which it would cover when they sold it...Sure they said they would fix it but they are really booked up and I would have to wait, but still have to pay. For which I said no offense like you fixed it the last time...I have given them a couple of days to do the right thing, I do not see that happening. I bought a 2011 Chevy traverse from these guys in late December 2023 got it home and parked it for the the rest of the winter because of the known issues with the traction controll stabilitrak awd and abs not working. Snows gone I drive it less than 800 miles and it dies completely while I'm driving it. They tell me the best they can do is internal rates for them to fix it. I understand because it's was as is Lemmon law does not apply even so I knew about the suspension work that it needed but if I buy a car from a used car dealership that runs and drives. You don't buy it as is expecting it to stop running in the next 800 miles. I didn't ask them for much. Just to make it right. Not tell me the best they can do is internal service rates. While test driving the car, it was extremely loud when I accelerated and would not speed up. This car was a 2015 and it was rusty and very dirty on the inside. He made a verbal agreement to pick the truck up Friday night for a Saturday morning appointment at our mechanic for a pre purchase inspection. On our way out to pick it up we texted to say "on our way as promised" the POS sales person texted back that he had sold the truck today. What a shitty low rent thing to do. I'm not sure how this place is rated as high as it is. My experience with the vehicle I bought from this place has been HORRIBLE! I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia on 8/27/18 with 92,961 miles on it. Since this date I've had the following issues: the alternator has had to be replaced TWICE - once leaving me stalled on the side of the highway with my 3 year old. Timing chain issues, abs and traction control issues, wheel bearings replaced and just this past Friday night I was driving down the road and the vehicle literally died in the middle of an intersection. My husband hooked it up to his code reader and it's now showing codes for camshaft issues and it's leaking power steering fluid. I've only put 8,180 miles on this vehicle since I purchased it. I feel that the salesman - John Kaminski - saw my husband and I as a young couple (21 years old) and took complete advantage of us by selling us a lemon. Do not buy a car here! Nikki Powers sold me a lemon and let me drive off the lot in an unsafe Dodge Nitro with my 1yr old son. I called to tell her the problems I was having with the car and she told me to wait until Monday. So I was stuck in an unsafe car all weekend. They begin to try and fix the car but couldn't figure out what was wrong. It has been almost 2 weeks and I've still not got any real answers. I've been told I'll get updates and twice they have failed to call me when they said they would. The loaner car they put me and my family in was filthy, cigarette ashes, dirty disposable masks, trash and old food scattered all over the place, obviously never been sanitized during COVID-disgusting. Then Nikki was conveniently not there for several days. I finally get her on the phone and tell her I would like to void the sale and she laughed at me and transferred me back to the service department. I got her back on the phone and she laughed at me some more, called me sweetheart, and finally came out and said I'm stuck with the POS she sold me. Don't even get me started on the manager of the lot that keeps a gun at his desk to intimidate people. These people are out to take advantage of people and use intimidation and condescending behavior when confronted about the lemons they are selling to hard working people. After having the car for a month and constant interactions with the dealership, I have changed my rating. I dropped the car off to be serviced. They kept it for two days and didn't even do the breaks that were supposed to be replaced. When I picked it up, the rim had been damaged and now I'm getting a low psi warning, which I never had before. They're claiming it was damage from years ago, but the tire didn't leak until after picking it up. They gave me a loaner car that they admittedly knew stalled out at stoplights. Whatever you do, don't purchase a car from this place. Listen to all the reviews talking about how bad it is. I test drove a truck that had issues and they agreed in the contract to fix all of them if I bought it outright for $32,000. I was told it would take less than a week to fix but it was 45 days before I got my truck back and since they took my old truck in on a trade, I was stuck borrowing the worst car they had on the lot for that time. When I came in to finally pick the truck up and said I wanted to test drive it to make sure the issues were fixed, I was told by the sales rep, "you can't test drive it. You already bought it so there's nothing you can do about it now." The truck has sense broken down four more times leaving me stranded on the side of the road each time and I've spent $14,000 fixing it. The new mechanics fixing it have shown me the work that Lakeside claimed they did was all either done incorrectly or not actually done at all. When I tried to use the extended warranty they sold me for $3,000 I found out they took the signature page of the contract I signed and attached it to a different contract which I had never seen before and the warranty company won't honor my contract. Luckily for me, I have proof they did this and this is fraud. Part of the most frustrating part has been their lack of empathy for the whole situation. No one at the dealership cares to help me and they refuse to even give me the phone number of the owner whom they say is the one who will be handling my case. You might save a couple bucks shopping here since they buy their cars at auction, but you're going to end up spending way more money and the next six months of your life in court fighting them for Lemon Law and suing them for fraud for their contracts. I called this place at 9:30am to set up a test drive for 3:45pm. 1 minute after the call I started to receive text messages from a 616 number claiming to be associated with Lakeside Automotive. The texts were rude, intrusive and unprofessional and included gifs (why??) (see attached photos). These texts continued for a few hours though I did not respond. The last text asked if I preferred a phone call, 1 minute after which I received a call from an 888 number. I still decided to do the test drive since I knew I did not intend to buy, only wanted to get an idea of the space inside a certain make/model. When I was able to get in the vehicle the upholstery and floor of the car were filthy, the shifter and dash area were grimy. You would think 6 hours of notice would have been enough to get the car in presentable order. When I went to return the keys I inquired about the text messages. The salesman stated it was an automated text service that they paid for. He agreed the messages were inappropriate and took photos. I asked him to ensure my phone number was removed from the list and he said he would. Though he did not ask the necessary follow up questions until prompted so I am doubtful he really intended to do anything. The next day I am still receiving calls from the 888 number. Needless to say I would not give Lakeside automotive my business. If you expect a customer to drop $20k+ at least have the common sense to clean up the car before they see it. read more

I bought a 2013 ford escape May 2022 and haven't had any issues until now due to wear & tear. I purchased an extended power train warranty with my car and it covered my timing belt and water pump. Sales helped me out with the remainder of what wasn't covered such as alternator and oil chain and left me with an affordable amount to pay out of pocket to get my car fixed. The only thing I will say is that when I bought my car, I needed to replace pads and rotors all around and tires weren't in great condition. But it's a used car so it was expected. My car was fixed within a couple days of signing a consent for them to work on it. During the buying process, my sales rep helped me understand what I was getting into as this was my first time buying a car off the lot. He answered any questions I had and let me know what to expect. There has been absolutely no surprises in the past year and I'm very thankful for that. read more

They do not disclose any repairs that are in immediate need and they do not know how to diagnose for future repairs so one can financially prepare. Simple requests. Oh! And the repairs that they did do did not hold up for longer than two weeks! Paid for something that they KNEW was wrong to begin with. THEY DO NOT INSPECT CARS thoroughly to feel comfortable driving them off the lot; do not purchase a car from these people. The service department is offensive and unknowledgeable with foreign vehicles. I have attached paperwork from a third-party inspector to let me know exactly what it is I can expect for this car to have serviced this is the paperwork I expected Lakeside auto to provide me upon purchase of the vehicle but they are so lazy and lack expertise, they will never accommodate. After purchase of a pickup truck, the issues that were discussed with Nate, the sales person, before the final signing, were written down and promised to be repaired. We were told that customer satisfaction was very important. The only issue that I have is the length of time spent in the shop, while parts were ordered, other vehicles rotating in and out of a small 3 stall facility. 4 days later they told me it was finished, and after looking at the repairs, they went above and beyond what I told them I wanted repaired. Brakes were completely replaced, including rotors and necessary hardware. Power steering leaking hose was replaced and also a new pump and reservoir were installed, which I didn't expect. While there, starter acted up, and they replaced it so I wouldn't have issues down the road! Complete surprise and appreciated by me. Very well satisfied with complete experience. read more

Purchased a 2013 Ford Edge on Oct 23. On Dec 17 I started to get a grinding sound from the driver side rear brake. I brought it into Belle tire and they informed me the rear pads were down to metal and the front had 1 mm of pad left. I ended up needing 4 new rotors and a front passengers side caliper that was leaking. Then it got even worse. Upon further inspection I was informed my tires were super chopped. Further inspection revealed that the tie rod was worn and needed to be replaced and I also needed 2 shocks and 2 struts. Because of the condition of the tires and being an awd vehicle I had to have all 4 tires replaced. When all was said and done my total repair was 3,500 dollars. My fault for not taking it to a mechanic first,But did they even bother to inspect vehicle before they put it up for sale. I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this place and I will not be going there again. read more

Cocky and Arrogant finance managers along with poor ownership encompasses a Lakeside Automotive buyer experience. I just wish the customer service was as big as some egos i had the pleasure of dealing with. Not only do they over look simple things, such as brake lights and turn signals working properly, Their service department is a complete joke, I would not recommend even any simple task from this establishment. Upon agreeing to purchase a 2011 sierra my closing paperwork included a warranty that was never discussed. Just simply slid into the deal, Thankfully Best Financial caught it and explained it was in the purchase agreement and it was just presumed id want a warranty with the truck...NEVER ONCE was the warranty discussed....Another lesson learned. always take a friend with you to check out basic functionality and as much as i hate to say it. Make sure its even street legal if you are going to take these vehicles for a test drive,. It is appalling to me that a place with such an "awesome reputation" sticks all these vehicles straight from the auction block directly on there lot with out so much as a safety inspection, After Lakeside had my truck for week they could not figure out a simple corroded light socket. Thank god for SHORELINE MOTORS who fixed most of my issues in about 30 mins! I highly recommend avoiding Lakeside Automotive at all costs. Among other things i find it extremely disheartening it took three weeks to produce a title for the vehicle i just bought. A whopping 5 weeks later, after at least 10 phone calls and inquiries i had to take it upon myself to wait in line at secretary of state to get a copy of my transfer registration so it was legal to drive my new truck. How pathetic is that, I have waited several weeks to produce this review, The very last thing i would ever want to do is tarnish someones name, However, I am still in disbelief at the lack of overall respect and professionalism this hole in the wall has shown me, If you respect your time and money what so ever go somewhere else...Maybe they wont beg you for a good review like they did me,...What a joke, I guess i could go on, but ill cut this one short. Don't buy a lemon here, like I did. On October11, 2020, I went in to test drive a 2007 F-250. Upon returning to the dealership, I told my salesman, Jim Boyer, that I wouldn't buy it without having a mechanic look at it. He asked what the issues were, and I told him that it shook when I drove it, and it needed an alignment. He stated that they would fix any issues with the shaking. A month later, they delivered the vehicle. I drove it less than 3 weeks before I had another issue. I took it to a local oil change for a fluid flush, they discovered oil in the coolant. I called my mechanic, and he said it was probably the head gasket, but he couldn't get it in for three weeks. I called Jim, who told me to call a sales manager. I then talked to John, who had the vehicle picked up to be looked at. After about 2 weeks, I was told the head was shot. They sent it to an outside place to fix it, and then they discovered the oil cooler was also shot. They offered to cover half of the 6K bill. When they got the truck back, the battery light was on, the alternator is shot they said. They fixed that, at my cost. Then they test drove it again, and it looks like the turbo charger might be shot, they offered to cover the labor to clean some part in the turbo charger, but are not sure that will fix the issue. At this point, I have to call another service manager to see if they will cover any additional costs. So far, I am out 16K on the truck and about 3500 on repairs. I did not want to buy a mechanics special. I was VERY clear on this when I bought the truck, and was assured that they wanted me to be happy. Do you think I am happy? I have had to borrow my Mom's care to go to work, pay for insurance on that, as well as the truck that I haven't seen in about 6 weeks. When I asked the service manager if the truck had been inspected before it was offered for sale, he checked, and said no. I really wish I had just found a local mechanic and brought it in to be looked at. I would have saved a lot of money, time and heartache. At this point, I am ready to contact my lawyer to see if there is anything to be done. In the event that the lawyer doesn't work out, I have a friend whose sister works for a local television channel, and I am going to see if they want to do a story about being sold products that were not as promised. The ad said "above average condition" and that is not what I ended up with. I bought here based on the reviews I saw at the time, I should have done better research. read more

We stopped on a Sunday and checked out an Escalade. It had their "Safety Checked" sticker on the windshield. I went in for a test drive on Tuesday, when I got there, they said it was in getting a safety inspection so I had to wait a few. I got in and drive a couple miles, gas gauge was on E. I stopped and put $20 in and got a receipt, I had an appointment with my mechanic and wasn't even sure I'd make it back to the dealership. Once I got to my (ASE Certified) mechanic, we saw paint tape and fresh bondo. My mechanic hooked it up to the diagnostic and it threw 7-8 fuel codes (no lights on the dash were lit up). We looked under the hood and someone had wired the fuel pump sender to the battery, a massive fire hazard. This was done to keep the check engine light off. I have video and photo evidence of ALL I got back to the dealership with it, said the mechanic said no, then mentioned the gas and my receipt. I was told basically, I am out the $20. So I paid for a frightening test drive. Shame on them. read more

So I packed my family up and drove to test drive and possible purchase the vehicle. We get there and spoke with a sales women, who took down my info and made a copy of my license. She gave me the keys and my family and I went on a test drive. We loved the vehicle. So we returned with the vehicle and I sat down with the saleswoman. We then went over the numbers for the truck, on her screen she should the truck at $10,648, I told her I was paying cash. She went to the back to the finance guy I guess and came back with a breakdown for the price $10,648. This included taxes, title, plates and warranty. The total came to around $11,899 With the warranty it was around $13,500. That was more than I wanted to spend so I countered with $11,000 cash. She went back to the finance guy and said they couldn't accept my counter offer because the truck price was wrong. So we look at her computer and one browser said the truck was $10,648 and the new browser said $11,406. They actually raised the price while I was there and after they ran numbers for the lower price.... This is crazy. So I declined and sat there for 10 minutes while she tried to explain what happen also trying to get me to finance and or buy a different vehicle that I didn't want. Recently myself and my wife had bought 2 vehicles in 2 weeks from them. I will say the cars themselves are decent. However be careful what you buy here. They buy in auctions (which is normal) but they do not check them over before selling. While looking I found one truck missing the belt to the water pump. Other trucks with personal property in them and so on and on. They bank on consumer not doing due diligence and finding some issues. Like I said our vehicles are not bad but had them fix everything, well most of everything. On one vehicle, on the contract we had listed the repairs they did all but one. On other vehicle out of the 6 repairs they only fixed 3 of issues then dropped the vehicle off with no notice. So here we are 3 weeks later and cannot get phone calls back. All repairs were on a signed contract and I will now be seeking legal help. They also promised a few other things but never follow thru. We still have no plates for one vehicle after a month (just keep saying in the mail) and other vehicle when they dropped off didn't have a plate or paper plate. They were suppose to transfer over the old to new and they got that wrong as well. The communication here is non existant at best. The "alleged owner" is a mysterious person as well. All we were asking was to follow the contract and some extras for the 3 months of headaches of just buying a car. We even had financing from our own private bank so I cant say anything about that at least. Horrible experience and will refer everyone I know to a more put together organization is all. read more
