The walk-in sites in general are all amazing, you're secluded from everyone else but still close to the amenities. Site 83 is about a 4-minute walk from where you park your car. There are two tent pads and plenty of space. It's a beautiful site--book it early! The amenities at the campground were great, plenty of places to recycle, fill up water, and throw out trash. The bathrooms are also very nice, but they are some of the busiest bathrooms I've ever seen! There are plenty of hiking trails as well, a great visitor center and gift shop, and it is an all around lovely state park.

I'm not super experienced at camping, but the campsites felt quite close together to me. Compared to other places we've been, the sites are much less private. AMENITIES: 5/5 The amount of water spickets and bathrooms around the site were great, and the showers/main bathroom facilities were nice! STATE PARK: 5/5 We loved walking a bit of the state park over the weekend! The suspension bridge is super cool, and it's really fun to walk on and explore the unique rock formations along the water.

From the top you get a full 360° view of Duluth, including the aerial lift bridge, which was super cool to see. The tower's only a few stories high and has rails to help with the climb, though it's not ADA accessible. Along the way, we also learned about Mr. Enger and his impact on the city, plus Duluth's special ties to Norway. Definitely a neat little stop! Not to mention there was a Japanese Zen garden and a few trails.

It's quite popular, with many people jogging, walking their dogs, and overall enjoying the outdoors. The path is nicely paved and well maintained. Plenty of benches and great places to take photos. I enjoyed my visit during the summer, but I'm not sure how popular it is during the winter. Beware, this walk takes you past Love Creamery. It's hard to resist ordering a scoop or malt when you walk past, especially on a hot summer day. This is also a great place to people watch, if you're interested in that type of stuff. As far as parking, there's no dedicate lot as far as I know, but plenty of street parking.

Such a fabulous scenery in old town and then over the lifting bridge, which lifts every 30 minutes…read more The drive to the beach was beautiful curvy roads and beautiful infrastructure and houses and we really enjoyed the marsh scenery that we encountered. There's plenty of parking on the side of the road and lots of entrances to get to the beach. The beach is beautiful with the city in the background or the lighthouse Sandpoint in the other direction the water was clear there was so much soft sand, and plenty of rocks to look for. We were told by locals to look for the Agote rocks plenty of treasures we found here. This is a must see and check out on your visit to Duluth.

I've kayaked AK, HI and the San Juans (WA) and this was the best! It's a very short bus ride to Meyers Beach so you don't waste a lot of time getting on the water. As a side note, I later learned from another type of boat tour on Madeline Island that there are a few pretenders in the kayak tour business but Lost Creek is considered by locals to be one of the best!!

This was our first time driving into Duluth through Superior Wisconsin so we had to make a stop at Pattison State Park. Our favorite view of the Big Falls was from the parking area across the street from the park entrance ( you still need a park permit to park there). Short hike to the viewing area and they also have a selfie station to get a great picture in front of the falls. The colors were beautiful as we came in the fall time but I would love to come back in the spring to see the falls raging!

The bathrooms were clean for the most part but the showers were kind of gross- however some of that was due to other campers. They are also in the process of building a new shower/bathroom facility. The most standout part of our stay however was Ranger Chris. He was incredibly nice and helpful, especially towards my 5 year old who always has about a million questions and observations. Ranger Chris hooked him up (pun intended) with a series of much treasured "fish cards" and a neat activity book that we had fun completing as a family so my boy could earn a Wisconsin patch. Thanks for making our (and especially his) stay wonderful, Ranger Chris!!

Jordan had excellent communication before our date and was attentive to the weather-keeping us updated as our departure time got closer. It was easy to find him at the Marina. His impressive fishing boat was well cared for, extremely clean and well equipped for fishing and with safety features. For beautiful, unspoiled wilderness in the Midwest, the BWCA can't be beat! This was my first…read moremulti-day paddle trip and we had a nice beginner friendly route. The lakes and rivers are just beautiful. We saw so many loons, bald Eagles, and other small wildlife (chipmunks...lots of chipmunks...). Campsites are quite nice with fire rings, grates and flat tent areas. There are also "government boxes" into the woods behind each campsite which eliminate the task of digging holes when nature calls. Portages are evil...my advice is to keep gear as light as possible...think backpacking...not car camping... Be ready for rain; this is the north woods of the Midwest after all! We had an extra layer of plastic in the bottom of our tents and were very glad we did this when we got soaked with 5-1/2 inches of rain and water soaked up through the bottom of our tents. The plastic kept our sleeping bags dry! Read up on the area, learn to read maps and use a compass and do at least a few nights of backcountry camping and some day paddling before heading up here, but if you've done that, don't be intimidated by the area if you are a first timer!
