    The Duluth Experience

We had an absolutely awesome experience tonight…read more We started at the Duluth Huskies stadium (Wade Stadium) and enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the field, locker room, and grounds, we were also treated to stories about the history of the team. The general manager was our tour guide... he was one of the friendliest and knowledgeable people I've ever met! The stadium and team are rich with history, even down to the bricks they used to erect the entrance to the field. Dave was our bus driver and tour guide for the night. After the stadium tour he took us to Bent Paddle where we were able to samples some brews and enjoy the atmosphere, what a cool place! Their beers are outstanding! The 14 degrees ESB is a GABF (Great American Beer Festival) winner! I would highly recommend trying it. There's an awesome BBQ joint that will deliver to the tasting room too! We ended the night back at the stadium with a Huskies' baseball game. The won in walkoff fashion! It was a great game! We are looking foreword to another tour. I would highly recommend a tour with Duluth Experience.

Hi - This review is…read morea little late, but I am still thinking about the amazing tour I went on last summer, so I knew I had to sit down and write a review. I was in Duluth for my brother's wedding and didn't know anything about the city or the area. I was with my then-boyfriend and we knew it was a beautiful area, but wasn't sure the best way to experience it all. That is when I booked us on the Scenic North Shore Bicycle Tour. It was by far the best thing we did in Duluth (minus watching my brother get married,ha) and we were raving about it to all the weddings guests all weekend. The guys running the show were great to talk to and they clearly thought of everything. If you are traveling to Duluth and want to really have the best tour guides, book with them.

As a fisherman let me say this first, they call it fishing for a reason. If you always caught fish,…read morethey would call it catching. I have fished with some of the best fisherman in the world and they don't even catch em all the time. That being said, being a charter boat captain is not only about taking your clients fishing, there is a certain experience or service that people expect when they book a trip. Our trip with Captain Paul certainly met and exceeded my expectations. I had booked an appointment for my 11 year old nephew and I. My nephew really enjoys fishing and I thought this would be a fun experience. I have previously been on a few charters including one not so great trip that my brother likes to keep reminding me about. For the record I got seasick, it wasn't pretty. Anyhow we arrived at our scheduled time and were greeted by the captains of one of their boats. We were directed to Captain Paul's boat who was getting ready for our trip. It was an absolutely beautiful day. As we headed out it wasn't long before we started to set up our lines. I say we because Captain Paul had my nephew help him which was fun for him. We booked a half day drip with is about a 6 hour day. While the first few hours went by quickly with our conversations with Captain Paul, we didn't have any bites. We tried some different depths and different lures. It wasn't until we "fooled" the fish into thinking that we were not ready that the first trout hit a line. I woke up my nephew from his slumber and he reeled in his first trout. It wasn't too long after that we had another bite but lost that one. Before the end of the day we hooked into another trout that my nephew landed. We had fun on our ride back in and were pretty pleased with a couple of nice sized trout. Captain Paul cleaned our fish for us and as a nice bonus gave my nephew a t-shirt. As we drove home we had fun with movie lines from one of our favorite movies. "What's for dinner? Trout. What's fun lunch? Trout. What's for breakfast? Trout!" For those unsure of the movie, that would be the original Parent Trap. Great movie, better time with Captain Paul and Optimum Charters. Initially I thought this might be a one time experience for my nephew however we had so much fun I'm considering making this an annual trip!

Looper Charters - Captain Brody! Setting us up for our fish fry, he was quick, and we tipped him well!

Many Species, Limited out, and the Best Charter Captain in Duluth!…read moreWe went out with Looper Charters in Duluth, MN, and had the fishing trip of a lifetime. We not only caught fish--we limited out on multiple species! That's not the norm for us on Lake Superior, and both we and our captain were absolutely thrilled. It was just me, my fiancé, and my aunt, we took the twighlight fishing trip from 3pm-7pm in early June and from the very start, Captain Brody made it feel like we were fishing with a good friend. He's personable, funny, and has a way of keeping the trip both professional and laid back. He knows his stuff and works hard to put you on fish, but he also knows how to keep things light and fun. At one point, I asked if he could play some music, and he delivered the most incredible playlist--every genre, every mood. Between the tunes, the laughs, and the fish hitting the deck, it was one of those perfect days you wish you could bottle. And the boat? Huge, clean, and comfortable. Having a bathroom onboard felt like luxury, and there was plenty of space for everyone to fish, eat, catch some shade and relax without feeling cramped. This wasn't just fishing--it was an experience. We laughed, learned, ate well, and caught fish like crazy. We had enough meat to feed a fish fry to each of the 3 relatives we stayed with in MN that week! TIPS: For future clients: *If you want a day like ours, bring good food for your captain and crew! We fed him well, and a happy captain makes for an even happier trip. Trust his expertise, keep it fun, and you'll be rewarded. *Show up PRIOR to your departure time by at least 15 minutes so you don't miss the bridge lift and you'll have lines in the water quick! If you're thinking about booking a charter, stop thinking and book Looper Charters. Captain Brody set the bar. Five stars, and a trip we'll be talking about for years.
