Paddle Express can improve how they respond in a professional manner when their clients review them good or bad..... I enjoyed the scenery, kayaking and the waves on Saturday July 19th. I never made one negative comment against Steph she was great. I just made some suggestions on my other reviews and the direct response from 'Paddle Express' "was to place blame while lying" instead of accepting the suggestions in peace. The owner Sean is very unprofessional and a bully with narcissistic mannerisms/behaviors. If you look at his responses to his clients that don't give him 5 stars across other review sites you will definitely see a pattern!! "He takes no accountability" 'HIS TACTIC IS TO PLACE BLAME WHILE GOING INTO a full rant against his clients ". The best response for a professional business owner is 'OH' "not everyone is professional"! "Take some accountability and stop bashing your clients". Nothing and no one is perfect but when you go on an entire rant attacking your previous clients it shows your character. I'm really sorry I chose your company when I booked. There were so many companies I didn't expect blatant bullying. I must say it's okay you can't make everybody happy but one thing you can do is stay clear of people like Sean. My review is for the paddle company and service only, not the paddle experience (cancelled due to weather). Sean the owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. Steph, our tour guide was great, she text us the night before to answer any of our questions and give us the rundown. When we met her the next day, she was friendly and outgoing and energetic. We were in a group of 8, four pairs of two. During the paddle talk, the approaching storm was getting more ominous. The wind gusts were much more than expected and the temperature plummeted. Paddle Express asked us how we were feeling about paddling in this weather and they offered no pressure for us to continue. They allowed us to decide independently of the others in our group if we wanted to continue. 6 out of 8 backed out and they didn't force the last two to cancel which I thought was very professional. We were able to receive a full refund and I would most definitely book with them again. They offered us dry bags, nice life vests, newer paddles and their kayaks were clean (even though I didn't get to actually use one). I like that they take care of their equipment and don't use run down ratty worn out gear. I would definitely recommend Paddle Express to anyone and I'm looking forward to using them on my next trip out here. read more

RUDE. AGRESSIVE. AND SCAMMERS. I will continue to write this review on any message board, booking site or anything else that will accept it! The customer service from the owner "Sean" is downright diabolical! He has flagged my reviews with Viator, the booking company due to me uploading text messages and PROOF of all my claims. They will no longer speak to me about my reservation, provide any support OR REFUND ME. I booked a reservation on April 17th at roughly 6am for two patrons = $238 for the following day, April 18th @ 11am. I was on a flight from Atlanta to Arizona at 9pm on 4/17 when I received an email that my reservation was re-scheduled due to "Not checking in". I also received a text message where I communicated the new time would not work for my birthday plans. This person spoke so rudely in text and stated they would give me a refund because I was "arguing". I never received the refund. I contacted Viator who could not do anything because he did not cancel the reservation and it shows "Completed" on their end. I never rendered any services. But I have TWO bookings for the same date. One cancelled and on completed, scheduled an 1.5 hour apart. Sean claims he marked me as "No-show" (Text message) but then changes his story to say the reservation was cancelled due to the weather conditions. (No proof of this) He provided his 24-hr cancellation policy to Visa and they instantly shut me down. I would like my money back of course but even more, I want to deter other people from booking with this company. THE RESERVATIONS ARE AN 1.5 HOUR APART. None of your responses make sense and they have no validity. Glad to see that you are not insulting me as everyone else on this thread who has a negative opinion about the way they were treated by you. You understand the First Amendment, I'm sure. Free speech and press on a public platform with claims that can be proven to be true is legal. No one's harrassing you, your employees, representatives or any agent of your company. I hope this will help others before booking & strongly encourage them to look at reviews elsewhere about this company I am writing to formally express my concern and disappointment regarding the tour scheduled for July 26, 2025 @ 7am which was canceled upon our arrival. To begin, I received a message from the guide a day prior stating that our tour would be delayed to 7:30am with no additional detailed instructions. Our group arrived on time, contacted the guide, and waited for further instructions. Upon arrival, we were not informed about a $30 parking fee or a 7:25am arrival time for orientation. I would like to acknowledge that one of our participants disclosed an inability to swim. We understand that timeliness and safety are important and take full accountability for any disruption this may have caused. However, despite our effort to still proceed safely and cooperatively without the one person, the tour guide gave several conflicting reasons for the cancellation. This behavior felt inconsistent and unprofessional. For example, we were told we are unable to proceed without one person because it will "mess up the vibe of the group." What was more troubling were certain behaviors by the guide that suggested bias and possible racial discrimination toward members of our group. While we do not take such accusations lightly, the tone, dismissiveness, and overall treatment we received stood in stark contrast to the welcoming and inclusive environment we had expected from your company. The guide also accused us of "making a scene" when politely asking questions about the refund. We flew from another state and drove an additional 4 hours to experience paddle express and are disappointed that things ended the way they did. Look at the texts from his business number from here and other people, imagine how he would talk to you in real life. Wow. Be weary of signing up for this given Sean is extremely rude and has a temper. Believe the other one star review that talks about his text engagements. If you experience anything that was not enjoyable and try to reach out to Sean, you might as well forget it. We asked to be considered for a partial refund given our group was not able to enter the antelope canyon and do the hike, something advertised in the experience and the reason we chose this booking (the family with us was having fatigue so we didn't get the canyon hike). He got really nasty via text in the end and said "if you paddled better there would not be anything to talk about." That was the last text he sent. Prior to that he asked if we had any wilderness medical certifications and I said actually yes I'm a doctor. He then replied saying "so you should know. Thanks it sounds like you have to stay in the building because elements and wilderness injuries are not in your consideration right now." We found that comical since one of the kids in the group got a cut and we were the first to offer a bandaid and antiseptic. We were understanding of the situation at hand and were just asking for him to be understanding of us not being able to receive part of the experience. So just be cautious of expectations of the tour and how well the admin accommodates you. He never once apologized kindly. On the other hand, Steph was lovely. If you choose to book here confirm she's your tour guide for your time!! At first our booking, communication and experience with Sean and this company was wonderful. We were ready to give them five stars! However, at the end of our paddle there was an issue. My cousin twisted her hip/leg and it gave out.....it was an unexpected accident that could have happened to anyone. Sprains, strains and broken legs or arms occur even with the most seasoned/healthiest hiker, biker or kayaker. I was told NOT to drag the kayaks. As she could not lift one side and I could not fully lift it all the way up the ramp myself. I brought the kayak within 7 feet of where we picked it up. I notified the company and received a pretty nasty text in return. I explained I did not want to ruin or drag their equipment. I guess I should have. We had already left before I got the text but it basically said I MUST return and move the kayaks to the exact location. Zero understanding, compassion with this company. We called Sean the night we got into town, looking for a place that was still open and could rent us a kayak first thing in the morning. We thought we'd try to start out about 8am, but Sean highly recommended starting at 6am if we were willing. He promised that the water would be as smooth as glass and that we'd have the lake and the canyon to ourselves for a while. He was spot on! If you can go early, do it. Kayaking or paddle boarding at that hour will impress. It certainly did for us! We enjoyed the quiet cruise through the canyon and later braved the open waters to see more of the lake. Once boats became more plentiful, the waves from the wake and reverberating off the walls made for a much rougher ride, but it was all fun. We hiked the canyon up to the ladder, but because we kayaked the canyon twice and went a few miles farther and back on the lake, we stopped at the ladder and called it day. It was all very well worth it and Sean gave us great tips and make everything really easy for us to enjoy the day out on the water. read more

He's very unprofessional and his patience for anything that doesn't go 100% perfect is thin. After letting Sean know we were going to be 30 min late (3 hrs in advance) of our planned arrival he tacked on a $50 late fee by texting me to Venmo him. When we ended up arriving 34 minutes late we were then hit with another Venmo $25 fee. He made sure these steep fees were paid in advance of us getting the kayak. Fees totaled $75 and the tandem kayak itself totaled $67. When we show up at 11:32 Sean isn't happy with us being 2 minutes past 11:30 - the walk from parking to the boat launch is very long. At this point he demanded that we Venmo him another $25. After reading over his website more I realize he was taking advantage of us and over charged us. We should've been charged $25 not $50 in the beginning since it would've been a 30 min late fee not a reschedule fee. We tried to be nice and tell him way in advance we were running late but should've never told him and just showed up, we would've ultimately been charged less in fees. Kayaking and hiking in lower antelope canyon was AMAZING but DON'T BOOK WITH SEAN!!!! As seen in other posts, in order to trivialize this review Sean will likely both attack the character of my friend and myself as well as ranting about adherence to policy. In his defense, the policy is mostly clear on his website if you have time to read his 1000 word essay before arriving. Be sure to take the time do so if you decide to book through this service. We tried to be respectful and communicative but were met with rudeness and inflexibility - why book through a smaller service if not for flexibility and savings? Sean is good at what he does. His personality is suited for it. My husband and I felt like we were a group of friends hanging out. We had great conversation. The canyon is absolutely beautiful. Sean got some great shots of us inside. My husband and I paddled in a tandem kayak with Sean in his own kayak and we had a nice time. We set out at 6, which I think was the best time because the water wasn't rough at all, whereas on the way back it was considerably more choppy. I enjoy lake kayaking ga white water kayaking so it was just my speed. I'm also 6 mo pregnant and I did just fine. My only critique was I wish there was a better/fuller description of what to expect from the experience. We paddled to the entrance of the slot canyon, hiked the canyon, then kayaked back to where we began. I wish I had asked/been told how long the hike was prior to leaving my lunch in the boat. I thought we were going to walk in and walk out and then paddle more? At any rate this experience has good value to it. I have to say the owner Sean was spectacular with providing a last minute request to get us a double kayak to head to lower antelope canyon. Half an hour before our meetup location at Antelope canyon marina, he called to tell us the wind condition might not be idea for us to head to Antelope canyon. We followed his advise to wait 2 hours later when the weather conditions are more ideal. So happy we did that because the winds died down and we were able to kayak to our location in less than an hour than the anticipated 90 minutes. The rental fee included delivery and pickup which is extra helpful for tourists. He was knowledgeable about the techniques to operate the paddle given my shoulder Injury. I would recommend this company for anyone looking for a first class service and quality kayaks.
