This place is so frustrating!!! My biggest issue is the disaster with getting packages. They recently changed the office hours without notice from 9 - 6 to 9 -5. Unless you work odd hours or nearby its hard to get there by 5! And they're not open on weekends except by appointment on Saturday. In addition to that, the quality of the work done in the apartments is poor. I understand budgets but they should have found room in theirs to hire qualified workers! And the Old nasty A/Cs they left are irritating to have on while you're in the apartment. If your apartment is facing a parking area, you also have light shining into your place at night and the blinds don't do a good enough job of blocking it out. The good things I can find about this place are the option to have a garage, the dog park, lots of closet space, and new kitchens. So if these are important to you, you might want to consider this place but you'll have to deal with a poorly renovated apartment and occasionally having packages sit in the office for days until you can get them.

Dirt on sink - at move in.

Do not make the mistake of moving into this apartment. My fiance and I were excited when we found this place last year, in August 2013. The model we were shown on the tour was in perfect condition, we were so glad we found a "newly remodeled" apartment complex at such a great rate, not to mention they were throwing in a free month of rent with a 13 month lease agreement. We got our keys a little early, so we decided to check out our apartment 2 days before the move-in date of Sept. 1st. The apartment looked nowhere close to being ready for move in. There was paint/dirt all over the floors, counters, cabinets, sinks, tub (we had to clean it). There were spit out sunflower seeds/chunks of drywall in the carpet AND on our bathroom floor (we had to clean it), which I should also mention still had the old, dirty/cracked tile, not the new tile that was dispayed in the model we were shown (not replaced for almost a month). The tub/toilet were still old, stained and/or cracked (not replaced for almost a month). Our bathroom mirror was new but broken/cracked (not replaced for almost a month), 2 out of the 3 lightbulbs in the bathroom were out (we had to replace them ourselves). In our bedroom closet there was a HUGE hole in the wall with exposed piping from the bathroom - which gave us concern for mold/mildew. In our kitchen cabinets there were rows of nails sticking out, which posed a health/safety hazard (not fixed for... a long time). Some of the drawers/cabinets were not leveled or did not close all the way, and one of them was missing a knob (not fixed for almost a month). Our refrigerator was not plugged in (we had to move it and plug it in ourselves). The hot/cold water was incorrectly hooked up/switched in our kitchen sink (not fixed for almost a month). There was brown/yellow residue from the old light fixture in the dining room and they did not bother to caulk over it or paint over it (still not fixed). The cover panel for the light switch in the kitchen was NOT EVEN SCREWED IN ALL THE WAY (we did it ourselves). There were chunks of carpet sticking out between the hardwoord floor and the closets (fixed after 2 weeks). All of the closets still had plastic wrapping on the sides (removed it ourselves). The lightswitch controlling one of the outlets in the living room did not work. Our "new" AC unit leaks water. These are just a FEW examples of many concerns we had before moving in. Needless to say - the whole "renovation" was half-assed. Regardless, we still gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought they would have everything fixed by the time we moved in. NOPE. Everything was exactly the same, except they had nailed a wooden panel over the gaping hole in our bedroom closet, and they did not bother to seal the sides which still had cracks/crevices for the mold/mildew and bugs to creep through, or even paint the panel to match the wall. We told management we did not want to move in until everything was FIXED and COMPLETELY ready for move in. They INSISTED we still move in and they would fix the issues within a week. They did not attend to any of the issues for about a month (If that's the reason they gave us one month rent-free, we would rather have waited). We spent the first two weeks at our "new" apartment CLEANING IT and attempting to make it acceptable to LIVE IN. There were still paint splatters/dirt all over the wooden floors, counter tops, mirrors. In our first 2 weeks we saw a couple of house centipedes, 1 of them was in our bed. Lake Pointe management gave us a "move-in checklist" to list everything wrong with the apartment at move-in so that it is not taken out of our deposit. Our list would barely, BARELY fit on the sheet they gave us. They still have not completely fixed everything that we reported was wrong at the time of move-in. Our lease is up in 2 months. Their sense of urgency and care for their tenants is pathetic. They spent more time and money on their landscaping than renovating the actual apartment units. They have sprinklers showering over the sidewalks almost all the time, making it difficult to even enter our building without getting wet. In the winter when they had days they would schedule to plow the lots - they made everyone vacate the lot otherwise their car would be towed - but then sometimes they wouldn't even plow (thanks for making me move my car and walk a far distance in negative-degree weather, for no reason)! Mind you, I have been pregnant for over half of the duration of our lease and they have caused so many inconveniences for us. I could really write a novel explaining why you should NOT MOVE IN HERE but I think this should suffice. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY - do not be fooled by the fancy outer-appearance of this place - it is CRAP.

Bathroom is a fit-over type remodel. Not spectacular but of decent quality. Hard water means a bit of scrubbing every once and a while.

The apartments are okay, the office staff is unhelpful and most package get retuned to the post office and car is unsafe in the parking lot.

From the service drive, you have easy access to the parking lot and the elevators which go to the apartments. The gym here is awesome. The treadmills sync to your apple watch so it can give you accurate workout results. They have enough cable machines to keep anyone happy. Downside is that the dumbells only go up to 50lbs and the bench is a smith machine. Otherwise can't complain about the gym. The gym is open 24/7 I believe... The pool and lounge areas are pretty nice. There are 4 to 6 grills (didn't look too closely) so there is plenty of grilling space to go around. The people here are all pretty nice and haven't seen anyone causing trouble yet. The main lounge area/pool deck at the center of the apartment is shut down at 10pm so there isn't any issues with noise. All in all, no complaints so far. The apartment is beautiful and you get a lot for how much you are spending. Hopefully will write an update review in 6 months to a year.

I'm a newbie here at The Laurel, having moved in just a couple of months ago. I knew in the fall…read moreof 2021 that I would be moving to Minnesota, so I flew into Minneapolis in November of that year to start looking around. I had five or six apartment complexes on my list of buildings to tour, and when all was said and done, The Laurel was one of only two apartment complexes that I liked well enough to even think about renting. In January 2022, a one-bedroom became available at The Laurel, and I grabbed it. I'd been hoping for a two-bedroom, two bath, but I had to get my foot in the door and I figured I could always move into a two-bedroom when one became available. To tell you the truth, though, the apartments here at The Laurel are so very spacious that I've found a one-bedroom to be more than ample for me. I haven't met everyone yet, but everyone I've met so far is delightful, and so are Tony (the manager) and Adam (the assistant manager). It was Adam who gave me the tour of the grounds last November, and I have to say that he was an invaluable help to me, as I was relocating from out-of-state. Computers are not my strong suit and not everyone would have had the patience to walk me through one online necessity after another in the way that Adam did. He persevered without complaining and I so appreciated that. Thank you, Adam! :) This is the first apartment I've lived in in ages, and before I moved into The Laurel, I assumed I'd live here for a while and then, buy a property nearby in which to live. I guess I thought that because that's what I've been doing for decades, but I'm having a change of heart and could see myself living here forever. The complex is clean, quiet, and very well-maintained; and the amenities, while not exhaustive, are really very nice. I see the amenities as quality over quantity. To sum it up, I can't imagine giving The Laurel anything less than 5 stars, and if I could, I'd give management and the grounds even more than that. Suffice it to say, I love it here, and I think you would, too!

Pros: -Very quiet apartments: we could rarely hear our neighbors. -LOCATION!!!! You can't get better than this location, especially if you work at/near UMN. I didn't have a car, but never had a problem managing/getting around. -Rent specials--we got 2 months of rent off/year for signing a 2-year contract. -The apartments are really nice, and well maintained. Maintenance crew is always great. -Natural light is unbeatable. In the summer, we sometimes never had to turn our lights on! Cons: -Lax covid restrictions throughout pandemic; staff didn't enforce any of their own rules. Furthermore, the staff themselves always had their masks sagging off their noses/mouth and wouldn't bother to pull them up when approached. They were also pretty rude about it when we reached out to them. -The kitchen sink faucets really suck--the water isn't dispersed and it comes shooting out so it would always spray everywhere when we turned the water on. -Lots of hidden fees: $25/month for amenities (which they continued to charge throughout covid, even though they canceled most of the amenities), $4 transaction fee to pay your water/sewer, etc. -I felt they were pretty dishonest with the deposit. We kept our apartment really clean, and also spent 3 hours cleaning it before we moved out, but $25 (+ $50 for "painting") was still deducted from our deposit for "cleaning." They clearly just scrape a bit off the top of everyone's deposit. -Somehow these apartments just get really dusty really quickly! We would do a deep dust/vacuum every 2 weeks or less, never wore shoes in the house, had no pets, but there would always be a thick layer of dust on our toilet/counter tops within a few days! Have no idea if it is a ventilation problem, but we changed our air filters and even purchased an air purifier but nothing helped. Even though the cons section is pretty long, I would still live here again if I had to! I really loved my cozy apartment here and enjoyed being walking distance to so much stuff. The frat bro-y staff was the biggest turn off for us.

Some of our favorite things about 7West include: * Amazing staff that really cares about their residents. I've seen/heard of everything from them sending flowers to newly engaged couples to helping move-ins from out of the country get acclimated. There are regular resident events with delicious food and amazing prizes. And the care doesn't just extend to the human residents... dogs are favorite visitors to the leasing office, with scrumptious treats and lots of head pats available to all. * Beautiful apartments. They may be smaller (at least if you're used to a house), but the spaces are so well designed you'll never miss the extra square footage. And the huge floor-to-ceiling windows with loads of natural light help a lot, too! * Great community spaces, including the biggest, nicest gym I've seen (after touring dozens of downtown apartment buildings). The community room is spacious, the patio has a fantastic view of the river, and the (underused) tea garden is tranquil and beautiful. * You can't get more convenient of a location. One block off 35 and just a few blocks from downtown. Within walking distance of the west bank light rail station and campus. Lots of bus stops. Nice Ride, Zip Car, plus all the scooters. A half a dozen restaurants. And with the new Trader Joe's just down Washington (an easy 12 minute walk), I can't think of anything that would make it a better place to live. * Active but quiet neighborhood. You'd think this would be a noisy location, not at all conducive to sleep, but it's actually pretty quiet around here. There is so much to love here at 7West. From the moment you walk in the building and are greeted by staff that takes the time to learn and remember who you are, you will feel right at home here. (Seriously, the staff is the absolute best!)

Apartment Mart has a relationship with many of the new/highrise apartment buildings in the city, but we were also interested in a few of the older buildings, (and rented condominiums), that Apartment Mart doesn't represent. Sarah was clear as to which of these she wouldn't make appointments, (and instructed us to contact them on our own); but left some time in our schedule to see these units as well. All in all, Sarah made coordinating a whirlwind schedule virtually painless. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for an apartment in Minneapolis.
