BEWARE!!!!! Cancelled my application, NOW after 10 days they have not refunded a $500 Deposit I paid. I've made demands for the refund of the screening fee as well. Next stop, will be reporting to law enforcement. Security at this building is HIGHLY questionable, a homeless man used their concierge phone to call my phone in the middle of the night trying to set up a "drug" deal. The fact that my contact information was exposed, or whatever else information was exposed is an example of the lack of professionalism with Doran Group and Mill and Main. Leasing Agent IQ Levels are questionable. Refusal of a fully qualified application due to an argumentative "agent" who's mathematical skills are non-existent. Denigrating insulting tone, badgering attitude, and a tumultuous breathtaking failure. They did nothing to attempt to salvage a 13 month lease application worth $20K. Disgusted and angry as I write this. No response, no apology, no sense whatsoever... Shame on this leasing team, avoid!!! read more

I can't believe the people who have reviewed this complex before were real tenants. Mill & Main has the absolute nicest staff I've ever dealt with, and they're so incredibly professional. The building is maintained as well as a hotel. The community rooms/amenities are spotless, the hallways are pristine and smell nice, and even the parking ramp is well-maintained. Maintenance issues, no matter how complex, are dealt with in the matter of several days, tops. The security guards manning the desk in the East building are courteous, professional, and will help you out to the best of their abilities. Another reviewer complained about not having been given access to an amenity at 11:45. Most everything stays open at night, and if it closes, it's because there's a liability present with personal safety or excessive noise (drunk people in the pool, perhaps?). There isn't a single property in the city that doesn't have set hours on the availability of certain amenities. Mill & Main has generous parking spots, a free car wash, and free underground guest parking. My friends all love coming to hang out at my apartment, because the building removes so many pain points from a typical 3rd-party visit. Bravo, Mill & Main. Keep up the good work. read more

Insufficient security and safety for the price of rent. Multiple garage break-ins and thefts. Road bike was stolen from "secure" garage with two garage doors to get past. Car was broken into and items stolen. Handling of this situation by property management subpar based on Mill and Main being a "luxury" apartment. When looking for a place to live ensure patrol/garage attendant/security is on your list of must haves. If I would have thought this was going to be an issue, my wife and would have found a different place to live of the many new upgraded apartments in the area. read more

Awful customer service and first impression. Very rude leasing staff who made me feel bothersome and unwelcome. Beautiful building from the outside. Too bad the office staff turned me off from checking out this complex. My bf and I walked by one Saturday as we had an apartment viewing in the area. Since his firm is in the area we figured we could look at the other buildings around here. When we walked in, the leasing agent was at lunch (very understandable) but the front desk made me feel like we were a bother since we didn't have an appointment. So we said we would be back in half an hour. We call back later to see if we can stop in and the leasing agent tells us she's booked all weekend. We schedule something for Tuesday night at 7PM for a tour of the main building and a model apartment since we were a week early for our desires availability. She takes my email and phone number and name down. We do not hear anything from her the two days leading up to our appointment. On the day of our appointment, TWO HOURS before the appointment in fact, the leasing agent sends me a very short and extremely snotty email telling me that she had to cancel my appointment BECAUSE I had not told her which floorplans I would like to see and the units require at least 24 hour notices to show. First off, she told me there was no availability yet for my desired move in date. She also said we could see the main building and a model apartment. AND I never got a confirmation email, no website, no pricing, no floorplans. Heck, I didn't even know her name until she sent me that cancellation email. So if more was required of me, I was never informed of it? And then to be blamed for it was appalling. I work in the rental and property management business and I understand 24 hour notices. If they needed 24 hours notice, and if I had legitimately botched it (which I did not!), then why did she not email me or tell me the day before when that 24 hour deadline was up? So that I'm not sitting here excited to see a complex I won't be able to see? I would never let my leasing team send such rude cancellation emails at such a short notice, especially not one blaming the prospect and shaming them. I sent this leasing agent an email an hour after I got her email (because I was still at work) telling her how I felt about her cancellation. She sent me a response at 7:30pm telling me she was sorry I was upset (which by the way is not a real apology!!! a real apology would have been nice) and said if we still wanted to see the complex, she would be there until 8pm. It was 7 frigging 30 PM when she sent this to me!!! I was so livid, I didn't respond after that. Her boss emailed me a week later to speak to me about the incident but I was done with them. I gave her my boyfriend's number. Since the location is close to his work place, and not mine, I was not having any of it. They have been playing phone tag for two weeks now (he's a busy attorney). Overall: I was not impressed and I haven't even seen the complex nor the leasing agent face to face. For such a beautiful and classy looking building, you would expect them to train their sales staff in customer service better or perhaps to add additional staff if they're so busy that they cannot see anyone that isn't lucky enough to grab an appointment spot. So no thanks. I will take my hard earned money elsewhere. If my boyfriend wishes to live here, he's welcome to but I can't imagine living in a complex where I have to interact with that sort of office staff when I need something or have a problem. read more

The apartments are beautiful and that's about it. I lived here for about 2 years and the staff changed over about 3 or 4 times. On top of that if you have packages delivered and they need to be signed for you can expect the staff to argue with you that they haven't signed for them and when you leave they show up at your door a few moment later with your package. On top of that parking is extremely overpriced and they do nothing to assist when another tenant cannot park inside their lines. I had to complain 4 separate times and eventually leave a note for this to be resolved. When it comes to moving out they are more then willing to change your lease as long as it suits them. Wanted me to leave 2 days early but wouldn't let me pay out my last months rent just to be done living here. The amenities are always overcrowded in the summer time and has a frat feel of a mix between recent college grads and 40's to 50's who still want to party like their time in the U. The only positive about this place is the location. And that the apartments are mostly soundproof for when all the frat kids come home at 2AM read more

The apartment and staff are good when you live there. The bad thing about it is that when you have something happen to your life and have to move out, you will be charged either 2 FULL MONTH RENT amount of lease as fine, and wait 2 FULL MONTH and continue paying rent before you can move out. Or, pay $1000 as fine and let their stuff rent the unit out for you. You will be CONTINUALLY CHARGED until the unit is rented out. I lost $6000 on this issue. Hope you be aware of that. Doran company is good at playing tricks on their legal documents. They reserve the rights to decline your request for breaking the lease. It means when you try to move out, you have to ACCEPT THEIR TERMS. It means they can charge you whatever they want, and you have to accept it! They ask me to sign forms to pay fines to break the lease, just like the previous paragraph. The staffs are helpful and I'm thankful for their help. I moved into Mill & Main three months ago, and it is a terrific place to live. As many other reviews note, the place is extremely well-kept and clean. The apartments are very well sound proofed. I live one floor up from the pool deck, and I haven't had any issues with noise. The building has a great mix of young and older people. Everyone is super friendly. The staff are incredibly helpful and nice. It is so great to have Father Hennepin park right across the street, and the Stone Arch Bridge is a great way to get downtown. Such a great location, close to grocery stores, restaurants, movie theater, pet food store, etc. Free bike parking in the garage. read more

This place is a security risk. They do not understand how to handle sensitive information such social security numbers. They are also sketchy in how they handle things. They had sent me a link over plain email to a document that had my full social security number. Even when I explained what they had done, there was still a lack of understanding ("our secure signing is excellent - we've never had any problems"). If the link works for anyone who gets a hold of that email, that means nothing. That was bad enough. I found out later than when I had refused to sign the document (it was to send to the utility companies), they had, without my permission sent the companies my social security number anyhow. First off - in Minnesota - utilities companies cannot require a social security number for starting service, and more importantly, an apartment complex should ONLY be using sensitive information for uses they have permission for (like a credit check). The worse part is when I asked Josh point blank about why I had two utility accounts, he flat out lied by omission, not telling me what happened. A very helpful representative at one of the companies helped me figure it out. Theses people are not honest. They are are also careless. Beware. read more

Hello! I hardly ever post detailed, in depth reviews, but I feel like we need to share OUR current experience here. These events are in chronological order from before we signed the lease to where were are now - nearly 6 months later. We toured and reserved an apartment about 1 month before moved in around March. They did not have our apartment ready until 2 days before our move-in date. The names were spelled wrong on our lease about two times (they had to redo the lease at least twice). When we were handed our keys and were able to actually see our apartment, we noticed the carpet was still damp. The apartment was not cleaned too well. I have common allergies and the combination of the damp carpet for a couple days and whatever cleaning/shampoo product used to clean the carpet caused hives all over my skin. We ended up vacuuming everyday for about a week and eventually I found relief. The code that allows our guests to type in at the front gates were not given to us during the lease signing. We had to ask about it maybe a month into our lease. We were given an app to use for paying rent called RentCafe. Around when it was time to pay rent, we never saw a balance in the app we were asked to use. I had to ask about paying rent. Our deposits were never applied we were told and we ended up overpaying by $100. The key fobs we were given did not have our names attached to them. Our 2nd months rent was lost(paid with money orders because the app doesn't allow split payments&early payments). So much so, that they felt the need to tape a letter to our door informing we did not pay rent and that they need it plus a crazy percentage because of late fees. The rent ended up being found in a pile of other mail/papers later on. From then on, we keep the money order receipts. Having a hard time getting the office on the phone? Same for us and we live there. Seriously, it is impossible to speak with someone there on the phone. Forget about emails, they do not reply. They have a great package delivery system that uses secure lockers where you enter a code and then you get your package any time you want. It'd be nice if our account worked like it should. 8/10 times we have to contact the office (takes days) or go to the office to ask about our missing package that says delivered to lockers. They always ask if got a code and I always said nope. Then the agent has to open up all the lockers to find our package. We found out just recently that my name is not added to an apartment so they are putting these packages away and not informing anyone. Seriously frustrating to the point where I can't have deliveries to the comfort of my own home. There are a lot of things that could be improved here. Luckily for us we stay on the top floor and our neighbors only blast music maybe 3 times a week. We can hear all the door slams daily... and trash bags are left in the breeze ways daily but only smell terrible maybe once a week. We've lived in the lodge at lakeshore and steeple chase apartments before these and we agree that the previous places aren't even advertised as a luxury apts and provide a way way better experience for a fraction of the cost. We are sticking it out because we love the brand new apartments and being on the top floor finally. The location is great for us and Publix and other places are opening up soon. We hope this review can promote some changes and better communication for everyone here. read more

Mill and Main Apartments are situated near downtown Minneapolis. Location is ideal with proximity to the river and the historical Stone Arch Bridge. Father Hennepin Park is directly across the street and a variety of restaurants, a movie theater, and fitness options are located within a couple of blocks. The Mill City farmers market, held next to Guthrie Theater on Saturdays, is a short walk across Stone Arch Bridge. Apartments are well-kept and modern. The rooftop pool area is beautiful and offers gas grills and firepits and an incredible view of the city. Other amenities include a well-equipped fitness room with hot tub and sauna, business center, and complimentary coffee in the lobby. Indoor parking is available for residents, but guest parking can at times be a challenge. All in all, a wonderful place to live with excellent management and a friendly, responsive maintenance team. read more

I have moved around ALOT over the past 10 years for my job. I have finally settled in Minneapolis and couldn't be happier with Mill & Main. The staff here is so great, best I have ever worked with, truly. Friendly, personable, maintenance is so quick and efficient. It's been an awesome place to live!! Close to downtown, but quiet. I moved into the West building on May 1st 2015 and have nothing but great things to say about the building, support staff, leasing agents, and maintenance crew. Not only is the building meticulously cleaned, but all of the individuals who work on the property display the utmost professionalism and are incredibly nice. My experience with the leasing office has been nothing short of spectacular. My appointment scheduling was quick and convenient. The tour of the building was thorough and my agent was friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever I need to add anything, for example a parking space, they are extremely responsive and accommodating. As far as the price goes, you are paying for quality, proximity, and luxury. You should expect it to cost more than a bargain apartment complex, however, in my opinion the price is definitely in line with the value. The residents that I have come to know are friendly and many different groups hang out with each other on a regular basis. There is a real sense of community. For people who like to work out, there is a great mix of cardio equipment (elliptical, treadmills, stair climbers, rowing machines, stationary bikes) and lifting equipment. There are dumbbells that go up to 50lbs and there is a smith machine that can max out around 275. In addition, there is a group fitness room that is excellent if you enjoy doing dvd work outs or just want some space to move around in. There are also boot camp classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings that you can sign up for. Overall I would tell anyone who is looking at apartments in the Minneapolis area that Mill & Main is one of your best options. As someone who works downtown and looked at several "competitors" of Mill & Main, I am extremely happy with my decision to become a resident of the property. I have lived at Mill and Main for over a year and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. I looked at several locations in Edina and the north loop before deciding on Mill and Main. The location is great, just a walk over the Stone Arch bridge and you're downtown. A few blocks in the other direction and you're at the U. The building is immaculate, the gym, pool, sauna and hot tub are well maintained. Ali and her staff are courteous, professional and just all around nice people... I suspect that the people who had the most negative to say about Mill and Main are the very people I would NEVER want as neighbors. There is NOTHING unusual about the renting policies or the leasing paperwork we all sign at Doran properties. I find that when you treat people with respect, you get respect. People who throw their weight around and feel that rules are meant to be broken get what they deserve. I have lived in the East building since the building opened in 2013. I have NEVER been treated disrespectfully by ANY of the staff. I have had nothing but wonderful service....in fact the best service I could possibly have imagined. Not only have these people served my needs, they have become friends and have given me a feeling of belonging in a place that due to its transient nature, could have been quite lonely and cold. They even love my DOG! If some of the reviewers could use their imagination for one moment, they would realize that to live in a community requires everyone to live by common rules for the comfort of everyone, not just a few. These rules are not arbitrarily set in place. If you are frolicking in the pool past midnight, you are disturbing my sleep because my unit overlooks the pool. I fully appreciate that there are set times to use the facilities. Mill and Main is a wonderful place to live and it is disturbing to me that through these negative review, someone of QUALITY might miss the chance to have a wonderful renting experience such as I have had. This world is what you make it. Negative critics, please find another place to live. I don't want your selfishness to ruin my renting experience or the experience of the many wonderful people I have met and call neighbors. read more
