The closest description I could settle on would be a gallery - and to be honest it's a very small one. The space is set up a bit like a tea room that also sells art, including a few pieces of jewelry and stonewares but it feels like the owners wanted a garden and like to collect Japanese art, so they created the store as a way to offset the cost, versus creating a market-driven store. All in all, if you're in the area it's certainly worth a stop (especially if the garden is open) but otherwise I'd don't think it's worth a special trip.

Be aware that as I write this the Yelp page, January 2, 2022, it still shows the gallery on Plaza street. The gallery moved to 334 Center street in mid-2021. The new space is larger, more brilliantly lighted and airy feeling. A fun place to leisurely browse.

I have another place to go shopping for holiday gifts and this time in the North Bay, as if I needed another reason to come up to Healdsburg HA! But the framed color photo of a soulful content face painted in a gorgeous shade of blue caught my eye. You can say... I made eye contact. I moved in closer to the shop window to get a better look and the next thing I knew I was walking into the gallery. The Lisa Kristine gallery. Who the heck is Lisa Kristine?! I was thinking this to myself because her photos are pieces of art. The walled photos were beautiful. Mesmerizing photos of places and people in gorgeous foreign lands. Some of the people were from indengious cultures but she captured their joy and pride. Anyway Lisa Kristine I found out is an award winning Humanitarian photographer, activist, and speaker. Her photos and photo books are shown and sold in the gallery and online. The photo books are a more affordable option vs the art photos. Another favorite photo is a black and white of aged weathered hands grasping the flow of running water from a hydraulic manual pump. Gorgeous storytelling in a moment of time photo. I ended up purchasing the Slavery book because I wanted to support her work and the cause. They have specials around Christmas time so keep that in mind. The images she captures are very intricate and captivating so make it a point to stop by here if you're in town.

I used to live in the area and appreciated being able to read the articles about the sale and conversion of the site from the old chicken processing plant to the new art studios. I also saw many art pieces for sale that made me imagine myself in the future, with more disposable income, and buying art to display in my home. I was particularly impressed by some of the paintings, and it was really fun to look at the old cars.

Her painting are vibrant and whimsical and she hosts guest artists each month. You never know what magic will happen here at this studio. I've been back for Art Trails, purchased a painting for my sister and was inspired by Lauri and the zany New Orleans bayou feel to the location. My mom has impaired hearing. Her mask came loose from her ear, and before she could put the mask back on the owner emerged from the back in an rather unpleasant, confrontational and angry tone. I had my mask on, and my mother fixed hers. About as unprofessional as we've ever seen. Needless to say, we won't be back and purchased art from another vendor. Main message here is to treat patrons with respect and kindness. We won't be back.
