My son was absolutely thrilled--he managed to catch another beautiful golden trout, just like last time! The excitement on his face was priceless, but what made it even more special was the little surprise that followed. After his catch, they handed him another coupon for a free entrance on our next visit, which made him even more eager to come back again. There's something about this place that makes family bonding feel so natural and meaningful. From the calm surroundings to the shared excitement of fishing, it creates moments that really stay with you. Watching my son enjoy every second, celebrating his catch, and already looking forward to the next trip--it just makes the whole experience even more worthwhile. It's truly a wonderful spot for families, and we'll definitely keep coming back for more of these special memories.

It was a beautiful day and the lady at the store seemed welcoming and helpful. The facilities are nice and seemed clean. You could enjoy the picnic tables and make a day of it with older kids. We fished from 10:00 (opening) until 12:15 when my kids lost all patience. We tried a few different spinners. Then we bought worms per her recommendation, then even bought powerbait. Anyways we couldn't catch anything. She said they had just stocked the pond this morning. You could even see the fish jumping which made it more frustrating. I will say though in the two hours we were there, maybe 15 poles were in the water. During that time frame not a single person hooked a fish. So, hopefully it's not just my problem. I felt bad for the guy next to me. He had his grandson with him and he had driven 3 hours to try to manufacture a good fishing experience for the little guy. So, if you have similar ideas, please be warned there is no guarantee here. It's $10 per person to enter. We had our own poles. The worms were $8 and the powerbait was $7.50. From what I could gather, catching a fish is around $20.

We ordered the Coastal Tacos (rock cod) and Fried Chicken Sandwich. At first we were concerned that it might not be enough for us, but when the food came, we realized our worries were for naught. Both the tacos and the sandwich were quite large and also quite messy, but if a taco or fried chicken sandwich is not a little messy, it's probably not very good! The decor retains the flavor of the building's roots. I seem to recall reading that it was a stage coach stop (or railroad stop?) during an earlier life, which is completely believable since it was built in 1864. Rustic, but with some modern touches. We plan to stay at the Valley Ford Hotel again, and when we do, we'll wander down the stairs to Rocker's Roadhouse for dinner. I hope there's oyster Po' Boys on the menu by then!

I only recently met Lisa through my wife Kimmy and I must say Kimmy has very good taste in people…read more My mother was an accomplished artist herself and I think Lisa shows real talent. She uses mainly Acrylic Paint and a knife to paint and has a gift for perspective, color, and balance. I was especially impressed by her subtle use of blue in a small painting of birches, which really pops out at you almost like 3D. I know too how difficult painting water can be and she tackled that nicely in a recent boat painting. Again I was both surprised and pleased by her use of color here. I am getting ready to publish a new book of poetry and hoping that I will be able to talk Lisa into doing some painting that will capture the mood of my work! Keep your eye on this young lady! I know that I am!
