I had such a fun time at Cinelounge Tiburon, a funky and unique theater located right in downtown Tiburon not too far from the ferry stop. I took the ferry over from San Francisco just to come here. Did I get influenced by an Instagram post? Yes. But this is one of those rare instances where the hype matched with reality. The inside of Cinelounge is so cutely decorated and perfect for a friend to hang out or date. There are two theaters/auditoriums inside and on this particular day they were showing number of popular movies. I ended up really enjoying the couch experience. Their couches were clean, comfortable (especially for someone who has back problems like me) perfect firmness for a long movie, and it wasn't too crowded on the weekend. I wanted to gatekeep this spot but it's too good not to share. Would be so fun to come back again soon. read more

I cannot stop raving about this place to everyone I know! With groovy movie vibes, Cinelounge successfully preserves the ambiance of a good movie-going experience! From the lobby decor to the couches, everything about this theater shouts dedication and love. Truly you can see the effort dedicated to this project, and it's well-worth the drive up to Tiburon in order to experience this small corner-tucked movie theater. They also host events for community-building here, and I find that so exciting! (For example, they led a daddy-daughter workshop where they hosted breakfast and taught dads how to braid their kids' hair). My only qualm is that the food is a bit pricey, but overall the experience has been so cozy and inviting each time I'm there! I've now forced two people to make the hour-long drive from my home to Tiburon in order to watch a movie here, and I'll gladly do it again! read more

This was my first time ever attending this theater, and oh my goodness what a wonderful feeling!! As if I time travel back to the 70s and then went to the movie theater in the most comfortable seating arrangement with the most unique, eclectic snack, snacks, and wines. There are on the market!! Plus, the little neighborhood of Tiburon is so freaking adorable and cute, my girlfriends, and I loved our day trip from San Jose over there! We were more excited to sit in the big comfy recliner chairs, and watch Lilo and stitch together with our delicious tasting white wine! They even offered a vegan wine! One of my girlfriends is vegan so on the way home we stopped off in Berkeley at butchers son, check my review for that one, I honestly loved the drive going up here and it did not take as long as my GPS anticipated. Then we got to walk around the cute quaint little town, but I honestly love the main attraction of the theater, it's coziness and unique style!! You can tell the owners truly love movies , and it shows!! I can't wait for another day trip to go up and check out another movie at this quaint little theater!! Husband and wife dynamic duo remodeled this gem of a family-run local business theater. I have been taking the whole family to this theater since it was Tiburon Playhouse - nostalgic. I love what they've done to the seats, converted them to comfy couches like you're sitting in your living room. Who doesn't love good movies? Every neighborhood needs a local small business to come to that's not pretentious. Owners Christian and Camilla thought of everything i.e., scrumptious pizzas, alcoholic/non-alcoholic bevies for kids and adults, fresh popcorn of course, and nice selection of candies. What an amazing place an idea! I enjoy going to the movies And honestly this place took me back when I was a child going to the movies it gave me that nostalgic exciting feeling again. Love all the nostalgic movie artifacts throughout the theater! Brought back so many great memories. The seats are couches something I've never experienced before but was great to enjoy. Love the small business feel and I will always support small businesses. I had the great honor to talk to the owner Christian about what an amazing job he and his wife are accomplishing by purchasing and taking run down theaters and making them new and exciting with the throwback feel for a movie feeling like myself I think this was the best idea ever!! We both agreed that movies should be enjoyed together at a big screen not at home on a streaming service. an incredible place to go on the weekend for a day trip to tiburon! my partner and i went to watch nuremberg and the experience was great! i felt like i was getting high value for what i paid (the popcorn itself is pretty value for 7$ for a small and they also have plenty of custom seasonings you can put!) the theatre was super nice and cozy. couches have firm cushions, which is great for those with back pain/issues. temperature inside was comfortable (not too cold or hot), and the facilities were clean. highly recommend this establishment as part of a day trip itinerary for tiburon! read more

It was our first time here and it was an ok experience. We reserved the sofa to be more comfortable but it wasn't all that comfy and there was trash left on it. Our show time started at 2 and when we arrived, there was a happy birthday image on the screen of a kid on there for 20 mins. One lady in the movie was so upset she went to go ask when the movie was starting multiple times. We ordered the pizza which was a joke honestly. It was more interesting that one of the workers offered me ketchup? I asked for Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes but they didn't have none. It was very aesthetically pleasing inside but an overall okay experience. I think I'd rather go to an actual AMC for the same price, be able to recline my seat, and have service directly at the seat. read more

Came here to see Wicked for Good! Cute place with multiple theaters to accommodate multiple showings. We were able to get reserved seats which were super comfy with pillows and blankets. Some seats available were love seats! Great selection of movie memorabilia. They served wine here along with an upscale menu of munchies to choose from such as pizza slices, your standard buttered, popcorn, and. Candy in a box, chicken tenders etc to name a few. There is nearby paid parking available if you can find a spot.. The theater is definitely remodeled to give it that great old school theater look with lots of color and nostalgic decor, such as an old-school payphone and bar like seating in the lobby. Overall... Disappointed because movies were not working. We had planned a whole lunch time to come to this theater.

Hadn't seen a movie in theaters since before the pandemic, but my first visit here last summer got me wanting to watch movies in theaters again! At this one specifically. One reason why I like Cinelounge so much, other than being such a cute boutique theater, is that they have $5 movies on Tuesdays! (Or at least as of a couple of months ago they did.) With fees it's about $6 or so. And while the seats aren't the reclining with footrest kind, they are comfy enough. I haven't tried their food yet, but I think it's cool that they have Tony's pizza, which you can even just order for pickup/takeout and I believe delivery. There's a parking lot right out front, but it's pretty pricey. You can find free parking a few blocks away though (two hour time limit until 6pm). It's a gem of a movie theater in my opinion :) read more

This is a small theater in Tiburon with loads of character. Every part of this experience brings a touch of movie magic. The snack options are beyond your typical popcorn with samosas, the famous Tony's pizza, specialty treats, and more. There's also beer and wine! We ordered a Tony's pie and it was gone before the movie started, oops. We booked a love seat, which is a sofa instead of those uncomfortable theater seats. It was a nice touch. They have a number of couches and seats and a whole option of food and drink items to order. The owners are super friendly and enthusiastic and really built this place up. Was looking forward to this place after seeing appealing ads! Bought a ticket ($19.99! "senior") from ESL worker with the wrong showtime on it. Manager said "that's interesting." None of the 3 theatres' A-frame signs had my movie name on it, so had to return to lobby (with other patrons) to ask Manager for directions. Entered the "lounge" theatre -- which looked like a disorganized used-chair warehouse -- took my seat. Movie started, but NOT the right movie. I really didn't want to leave a negative review and I know how tough it is to run a small business, and I always try to support local spots. But I've got to be honest about our experience. We had tickets for a 1:25 PM showing on the 4th of July, and when we arrived, there were about 30 people waiting outside. The doors were still locked, and for a while we weren't sure if they were even open for the holiday. Eventually, someone got in touch with the owner, who said staff were on their way. About 30 minutes past showtime, two employees arrived and to their credit, they were very apologetic and clearly doing their best. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the owner. When I went to the front to request a refund (the movie still hadn't started and it was 2 PM by then), there were two other women also asking for one. The owner yelled at them and tossed their money back, it was super uncomfortable to watch. I asked politely for a refund and got the same treatment. No apology, just a "Great!" and some cash thrown my way. Look, I get that things happen and it's hard to keep everything running smoothly, especially on a holiday. But in a business that relies on people choosing to spend their time and money with you, treating customers with respect really does matter. I hope things improve for them, but this experience definitely left a bad impression. read more

Pros: Cute interior, auditorium 2 was comfy, loveseat was cozy, good views of the screen, sound was good. Good popcorn. Cons: Overpriced food (also pretty sure we were charged $22 for the "charcuterie" when the online menu says $21). The plate was a paper bowl of mediocre snacks. The pretzels were super hard, not soft baked. Clientele was iffy. Kinda annoying crowd in the lobby when we first got there, taking up all the space and being generally entitled and obnoxious. The sofas definitely need a steam clean. And there were two women who appeared to be in their late 20s or early 30s that were talking during the entire movie. As someone who goes to the Alamo every week and is used to watching films with people who respect their fellow moviegoers, being in a venue that doesn't have that as a hard rule is not fun for me. The owners seem OK. The wife seemed way more friendly than the husband. He made no effort to chat or be welcoming or talk to his patrons while I was there. I think if you're gonna run your business and actively work at the counter and sell the tickets then it seems like you would want to create a warmer relationship with the people who are spending a bunch of money at your business. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but I respect what they're doing. They should consider making the quality of their food better as well as maybe just being a little bit more friendly to their customers and maybe perhaps enforcing some rules around talking and being obnoxious while watching movies. read more

It's a little more expensive to view a movie here but we'll with it. Only one person works at a time so the lines are long on busy nights. The theater is cool inside so wear a coat during the winter. Films are previewed a couple days earlier than your standard theater. There is limited street parking and a pay parking lot It will cost about $5 for an evening of film or walking the street with water views after dark. This would be great to chill out in the summer. My boyfriend and I traveled from the South Bay to Tiburon to check out this cute little theater we had seen on social media. From the videos we saw, we thought it was worth the trek but sadly it was not. My boyfriend initially bought tickets for an evening showing of Super Mario movie last Saturday. These were bought a week in advance, but we decided we wanted to see it earlier in the day so he called mid week before the showing to see if an exchange or refund could be done. He called the phone number listed on Apple Maps, no one picked up. He then tried the phone number listed on the website, and after several attempts no one picked up. After that he decided to try the phone number on the Instagram page, which finally someone had answered. Who picked up seemed to be a woman (on her personal phone) while she was driving. My boyfriend explains our situation and she says she's not able to check our reservation because she was driving. She then passes the phone to who we assume must have been the passenger, a man who instead of nicely hearing us out, asks us how we got the number (?). Seems to have been a personal phone number, which if personal why was it listed on the Instagram page for the theater? They asked for my boyfriend's number, telling him that he would receive a call back (which he never did), and proceeded to just hang up. As Saturday the day of the reservation was approaching, my boyfriend feeling like there was no other option, decided to book another earlier showing and hoped that we would just speak to the manager asking for a refund for the previous purchase. We arrive, pay for parking as we expected to be there for 2+ hours. We enter and we let the worker know our situation and he told us that the manager would be arriving soon and to let them know. We bought a drink and headed into the room where the movie was supposed to play. The room was completely dark (couldn't see without phone flashlight) and only one other person was there. We sit and wait as we are a little early. As the time where the movie was listed for approached, neither the movie or any trailers were playing. No one came to check on us, tell us about any complications, no communication whatsoever. The three of us are in there in the dark just waiting, as someone comes in (i'm assuming the manager) and says (with the three of us in there), "oh no one is in here" while shining her phone's flashlight in our direction. The only other person went to go ask a worker what was going on multiple times, and it seemed like the last time they must have told him it wasn't able to show because he never came back to the room. So my boyfriend and I with no communication from the workers whatsoever, assume that it's a temporary problem, proceed to wait even longer. Over an hour passes by, and everyone that was there to watch a movie was gone. The manager then shows up to the main room where we were waiting for any worker and casually asked us if we needed anything (as if we haven't been waiting for over an hour?). I simply explain our situation and how we now needed two refunds. She understood and told us that another worker would be coming over and processing the refund. We wait for that worker to come out of the bathroom and when she gets out she proceeds to go to the register, where I explain our situation. That was already difficult because she did not seem to fully understand but she attempted to process the refund. My boyfriend even tapped his card using apple pay and got a receipt and everything. That whole process took about 20 minutes and by then we had been there for over an hour and a half. With drinks bought and parking paid for, and no movie watched. We had to go to a different movie theater that day to watch the movie, essentially 5+ hours of our day. Keep in mind we travelled over an hour to go to that specific movie theater. Oh and to top it all off, it's almost been an entire week since then and the refund was never processed! My boyfriend had to contact his bank. Had the refund been issued like they said it would, I would give this review a higher rating. It's a cute little theater but it's a shame it's poorly run. read more

This is a small privately owned movie house in Tiburon. Being on the small size is nice because the theater is not overly crowded with people which I think makes movies distracting. This theater has very comfortable seating, including Love seats for couples which I like. They also sell a wide range of movie snacks, pizza, hotdogs l, etc. plus beer and wines. The last time I came, we were even allowed to bring our dog with us who sat with us on the loveseat quietly during a three hour movie. Generally, I don't like going to movie theaters. I would prefer to stay home and watch movies on my big screen, but for some movies you need to see in the theater and this is the place I come for that. read more

We arrived about 20 minutes before our movie. Bought tix and waited for the theater to be cleaned. This would have been fine, if the owners weren't there, chatting away with (i believe) a vendor, nose-buried in a smart phone, and hogging the only decent seating in the lobby. The chatting and device-use is their business (literally); but to take up so much lobby space while paying customers wait? Unfortunate. Love the look of the place, the bright colors and funky decor. I was so excited to watch a movie at this theater, and I'm so disappointed. The lobby has great art and the vibe seems chill. The first indication things weren't going to go well was when no one seemed to be checking tickets or working the concession stand. We ended up just going into the theater and struggled to find our loveseat. The numbers are on the floor in front of the seats. Then we saw we would be watching the movie with the head of the lady two rows down in the middle of it. The final straw was three tween boys who decided to sit right in front of us even though it wasn't their seat. They were up and down and loud and apparently vaping. No parents anywhere. We left when it became clear they were not going to be settling down even after the movie started. read more

We recently hosted our son's 4th birthday here and it was such an incredible experience! The theater is beautifully designed and the kids all loved it, and all the parents who came loved the experience as well! Food was really delicious, they have Tony's Pizza as one of the options which guests all commented on quality of food, which as you can imagine isn't always that appealing for most kids birthday parties. Ok You know that I like visiting interesting movie theaters in Los Angeles and San Francisco. This movie theater is in Tiburon, California. It's brand new. The sofa seats are so cozy. However, I didn't like the movie because these movies are bad now. The sofas are cozy and it's updated. It used to be Tiburon Playhouse. Ark Row. It says Hollywood to Tiburon. I will now only watch movies at this theatre. This is genuinely the best theatre experience I have ever had the pleasure of participating in. The food and drinks are beyond exceptional in quality and comparable or below what you'd find at any AMC. Unlike an AMC, you are dining on the best pizza (according to the 50 best pizzas in the world) in Uber comfortable seating which is impeccably clean. To add to this already dreamy experience they have cocktails and wine reasonably priced and the whole theatre is decorated like a Hollywood premiere. I would drive from Sacramento to watch movies at this theatre. Thankfully I live in SF and will gladly drive 20 min to view every non imax film here in Tiburon. I had a great burger last night, at this wonderful specialty café in Tiburon called Cinelounge. The burger was one of the best in Marin. The menu is very interesting and the food is prepared fresh while you watch the movie. And the best part is that you can watch a movie while you dine, and they even bring the food to you. Adult drinks, too. So, last night I went to watch the DNC on the "big screen", What fun. It almost feels like you are almost there.
