My husband and I were on the way to a rental in Hocking Hills and were looking for a place to pick up a meal on the way. We both ordered a burger with fries. Service was excellent and food was ready at the time promised. It was the most delicious burger either of us have ever had!!!! I couldn't stop wondering what they did to make that burger so tasty. We were both disappointed that we weren't staying closer to the lodge because we would have absolutely gone back for another meal! I'd like to go back again in the future, it was that good! read more

We have been 2 or 3 times, and it's generally very quiet. But the brisket is some of the best we have had. We like our brisket moist with plenty of fat marbled throughout. And Lake Hope Loge delivers. This visit, I was by myself and the service was a little slow, but the food was still worth the trip. I completed the peninsula hike after lunch. Nice hike, lots of up and down as you follow the shoreline around the lake. This is a little out of the way of the Hocking Hills popular destinations but is by far the best place to eat around there! read more

We had an early supper at the lodge. The lodge is beautiful and the atmosphere is welcoming. I had the grilled vegetables platter and we shared a blackberry cobbler. I was a little worried when we went inside as there was only 3 parties eating . But my worries were unfounded our waitress was very nice and the food was very good and they sure give you enough of it ! I am kinda weird as I judge a restaurant by their sides and that being said the French fries here are amazing ! All in all the meal was great I can't remember what it was called but I had what was basically a sampler of bbq meat French fries and au gratin potatoes all of which was very tasty . Next time we are in town we will eat here again . And the view was very nice overlooking lake hope. read more

Ohio State Park lodges are not known for the best food. Most taste like the food is straight out of the back of a GFS truck. The Lake Hope Dining Lodge is quite an exception to that. It specializes in smoked and BBQ meats. I had their Sunday brunch today. The BBQ was top notch featuring smoked brisket, smoked turkey and pulled pork. All the side dishes were prepared well and not from a box. The pizza was thin crust wood fired not commercially made. The dining room has a very nice atmosphere with a beautiful view and friendly staff. read more

We were camping at nearby Lake Hope campground. Saw the wood fired pizza advertised at the Lodge restaurant. Had to go there for dinner. Sadly, they were not serving pizza that night. A few people we disappointed for sure. Grr. This began a string of inconsistencies: there is a WiFi login at the restaurant front desk, but WiFi is not available in the restaurant. They were out of their only red sangria. I saw incorrect hours posted (can't remember where - but it didn't' show for lunch - which is why we went for dinner). These are annoying, but no pizza? We are vegetarians, so were so happy to see the pizza because the rest of the menu was pork, brisket, turkey, beef. There is no veggie burger option. Which is such an easy thing. On a good note: the grilled veggie sandwich was really good. The nachos (had the pulled pork held off) were very good. Wonderful local chips. Fries were even quite tasty. Wine is very inexpensive and decent if you are a wine drinker. Suggest to just call head to make sure of hours and if you are craving their wood fired pizza! We travelled from Columbus to here for the Mother's Day Brunch. The location is beautiful, we had a reservation and got seated as soon as we arrived, which was awesome. However, the food was just ok and that is largely because none of it was hot or even warm. The asparagus and the penne alfredo in particular, really needed to be hot or at least warm, but it wasn't. I know it's hard to prepare food for a buffet, but for the price, I expected better. read more

The Turkey was perhaps the best I have ever had, seriously.(I don't usually care for turkey) The pulled pork was flavorful without any chunks of fat. The brisket was good, better then most. The sauted vegetables great! The smoked chicken wings were very good, and my friend said it the best he ever had. There is no reason to try to add fluff to this review. This was our first visit to Lake Hope & the lodge came highly recommended by our AirBnb owner. The hubby & I ordered the combination platter to share. I mean, who wouldn't want to taste it all! The platter consist of pulled pork, brisket, and honey glazed Turkey. The meal came with 2 large dinner rolls. (More like 2 large yummy brioche rolls/buns), dinner salad, cole slaw, and fries. More than enough to share! (We added an extra dinner salad) Now, I have to say, I Love pulled pork... especially with a good sauce smothering it. The pulled pork was tasty & moist. The Turkey was rather dry and I felt it lacked anything special. The brisket....well, Maybe others got a different cut of meat than we did. Ours was quite fatty which left me with a stomach ache about an hour later. Like I said, maybe we just got a bad cut. The waitress was super sweet and she even threw in an extra cole slaw for me. When we visit to Lake Hope again, I would give it another try. After all, the view alone is worth the drive! read more

The lodge is beautiful and houses a gift shop and restaurant on the top floor. The restaurant has a nice outdoor balcony that overlooks the lake - what a great view! The menu has a nice variety of dishes, including BBQ and wood-fired pizzas, and the platters come with a lot of food... perfect for the hunger built up from a big day of outdoor activities! Two of us in my party tried the BBQ platters - one brisket, one pulled pork - and they were quite tasty and filling! The third person went with a burger and fries and enjoyed his as well. The staff was so friendly and efficient, happy to help with suggestions. The chef is gluten free so when I inquired about gf dishes, they told me that they avoid adding any unnecessary gluten to anything and to let them know what I was interested in. It was great! This is definitely a place we will be returning to when in the area. read more

My family and I ate at Lake Hope Lodge for the first time earlier today. What a great place! They have a buffet on Sunday (the only option for Sunday - no regular menu offerings). Very good food and lovely ambiance. We happened upon this place after hiking at old man's cave. So glad we came.

I highly recommend eating at Lake Hope Lodge. We started with the Zaleski loaded fries, which were delicious! They were hand cut fries piled with pulled pork and topped with real cheese, best I have ever had. My husband had the Charlotte's Revenge burger, this was a hamburger topped with pulled pork, cole slaw and drizzled with very tasty BBQ sauce. I had a bowl of chili and it was fantastic! We sat right by the window with a relaxing view of the lake. Our server was very friendly and helpful, making sure our glasses were full and our food was satisfactory. read more

I met my family here for a Saturday evening as it was roughly the halfway point between us. We got seated quickly and our server was great. My dad had a steak and the rest of us had different types of barbeque. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. We would have loved to try their desserts but we were all stuffed. We stopped in today for breakfast at 9:59 this morning and they were getting ready to open the Brunch buffet. Wow what luck!!! This was incredible, they had everything on this thing. Even A smoked brisket and pork loin. Very nice mixed vegetables salad, complete breakfast and incredible deserts. I'll make a special trip to this place the next time I'm here. This is our favorite place for a nice meal. We love everything we have eaten here. The brisket is a favorite and the wood oven pizzas delicious. Had dinner with a 9 family members at Lake Hope Dining Lodge on March 21. The service was tremendous, and the food was wonderful. I had the rib basket, which contained about a quarter rack of well-smoked, extremely meaty, fall-off-the-bone ribs. My brother had the brisket, which he declared to be the best he had ever had in Ohio. As someone who has lived in Texas and Kansas City, I am picky about barbeque, and these folks know how to do it well! My father had the strip steak, which he said was great. My wife had the salad with brisket on it, and raved about it. The new dining lodge is beautiful. They have done a beautiful job of incorporating some design elements that remind you of the old lodge, but everything is modern and inviting. We had dinner at the Lake Hope Lodge last night. It was fabulous. EVERYTHING is homemade. Food is fairly priced, locally sourced, and delicious. Nice Wine & Beer selection. Chefs were working the room. New space is gorgeous. Went on the recommendation many local friends who were raving about it. It met my high expectations. I highly recommend. Ya gotta try the S'more - Homade graham cracker, Hershey's chocolate bar, and homemade marshmallow.that's been torched to that campfire brown. OMG it's good!! read more

My daughter and I had a wonderful trip away this past weekend and we happened to find the lodge. The smell of a smoker led us into the restaurant, we were greeted quickly and sat right by the window over looking the Lake. It was sunny this day so it was nice to see the lake and feel the sunshine on our faces. We were really hungry because we waited a little late to have lunch. The waitress was quick to greet us, helpful with her suggestions and informed us that people come there for the smoked meats. We shared an order of potato skins topped with smoked meat and cheese (yummy), my daughter order the smoked pulled pork and I order the smoke beef and blue salad. Both entrees were large BUT that didn't stop us from ordering the delicious berry cobbler served with a heavy whipped creamed topping. I recommend highly and can't wait to return when it gets warmer so we can sit outside on the deck. read more

Portions are ridiculously large, so plan on splitting or taking home. My wife and I got the loaded potato skins app and needless to say... we could have stopped there, but we're real Yelpers, so no way :) The brisket on the skins was cooked and seasoned perfectly. There was enough on the app portion to feed a family of 4. We took 2 home. The chicken salad was my choice and beware that there's enough food in it to choke a cow! That being said... it was also delicious and my favorite plate of food. I took about 2/3 in a to go box, but what I did eat was amazing and memorable. Smokey piles of chicken and very lightly dressed with mayo and walnuts, allowing the smoke and seasoning to shine. The soup du jour was cauliflower and white cheddar that was seasoned perfectly. Fantastic food and view. After a day of hiking here and there, we decided to try the Lake Hope Dining Lodge. If you come here and weather cooperates, sit outside. The view is amazing. My wife and I had the Turkey Club and Ruben, respectively. Both were excellent. The meats are smoked on the premises. The turkey was a piece real carved turkey, not lunchmeat. I have never had a reuben with smoked pastrami before, but I must say, it was delicious. Service is fast and friendly and the prices were real good too. I highly recommend it. read more

A lot of folks got together Sunday November 2nd to enjoy a nice brunch in the woods. I'm sorry folks scenery doesn't make a good place to eat. Disappointed is the word I wanted to use. $41.00 for two for bacon eggs gravy cobbler pizza which by the way tasted like microwaved food. Pizza was cooked ok in wood fired oven. Meat was dry. Eggs were cold. Desert ok They need to revamp their food preparation. One in our party from Columbus Ohio stated that's a long way to travel for eggs. One thing I've noticed on Yelp is a lot of folks hand out 5 STAR ratings. This is disappointing and miss leading to people who truly are trying to find a great place with a great value. We were pleasantly surprised after convincing the rest of the family to try the restaurant at the new lodge. One of the best briskets we've eaten---this coming from a North Carolinian whose state worships barbecue. This is the real deal. Great price, great view, great food and service. Worth trying are the smoked brisket sandwich and the Pride of the Pit sampler plate of 3 smoked meats: pulled pork, ribs and brisket. The macaroni and cheese was also very good. read more

Finally made it back here for a long weekend. Stayed at one of the cabins (excuse me, cottages) in the park. First the cottage. It was smallish but nicely proportioned. It was extremely well-built, with no cracks to let in the cold. The first night the wind was howling and we heard it but never felt it. The furniture was sturdy and more comfortable then it looked, except for the bed, which was a uncomfortable as it looked. The kitchen was clean and there were enough plates, utensils, etc., to work with. The bathroom is utilitarian but lots of hot water, which is a big plus. The grill outsidew as clean with no gummy residue from past users. The cabins are far enough apart to be private but not too far to feel isolated. At $75 a night for us and two small gods it was a real bargain. By the way, the on-line reservation systems shows only 3 pet-friendly cottages and none with a fireplace. A call to them found 8 more, all with fireplaces. Be sure to insist. The fireplace was large, easy to use (no flue, imagine that) and gave off good heat. Nice to cuddle in front of. Ate the first night at the Lodge, which had wowed us on a previous visit. This time a little less so. We both had smoked dishes, I the brisket, my wife the ribs. Flavors were excellent but both were a little tough. Temp too high?? However, the potatoes au gratin with them were simply scrumptious. Lots happening here. A real keeper. Mid-way through dinner we lost electricity and the generator that kicked in was only hooked up to one chandelier. And the kitchen lost their fans. The staff handled it with aplomb and all ended well. Still very good, Maybe not four stars but close. GREAT GETAWAY!!!!! read more
