What a great find! Traveling through four states while my wife was negating and searching for a place to stop for lunch. We are not big fans of fast food and love getting to see towns off the routine road with their warts, charms, and peculiarities. Also, we almost always find great places to stop and eat that I'm sad more people won't venture off the highway a bit to enjoy. Happenings was this kind of place. Simple decor, it was all about the food, and clearly, the locals know they have a gem. And then there is Jeff, the owner! Jeff takes great pride in his food and his staff. He doesn't just greet customers, he engages and entertains them. Within minutes, we felt we were talking to an old friend we just hadn't seen in a while. Jeff takes great pride in his food and challenges you to prove him wrong. He was open to changes, too, and then, as we finished, came out to see if it lived up to his bragging, and it did! Honestly, this is the kind of place we wish were closer so we could become regulars, and Jeff was the kind of business owner you want to get to know and become friends with. We will go out of our way to stop in Happenings again. Sadly, we only pass this way 4-5 times a year. But that's ok, Jeff will make us feel like we never left. read more

The beef and noodles are amazing. The salmon is excellent. The brunch is just seriously the best you can find locally. Period. And you won't find better pie anywhere in the county. The owner dressing up like Cupid for Valentine's Day is the icing on the cake. He always gives my kids quarters for the gum ball machine, too. Staff doesn't know when someone walks in, items on special were not available yet we're still on the board. Our order never made it to the kitchen so we had to wait twice as long. Pork chop was missing glaze and was burnt on one side. Hamburger was also over done. I heard and counted various servers tell customers "sorry about that" literally a dozen times. Even with offered 25% discount was still the worst $30 I've spent in awhile read more

What a Gem this place is... I got their signature burger and what they call potato scoops which are wide but thinly cut fries. You can get them loaded or just with dipping sauce. I visited some friends in SE Ohio last week, and they brought me to Happenings Bistro for lunch. Our server, Peggy, was really great and made us all feel welcome and right at home. We had a great lunch with some ice old mugs, and then we noticed the Wednesday special was chicken livers. We asked Peggy how they would be prepared, and she proceeded to make our mouths water right then and there! Well, Wednesday finally rolled around and we went to Happenings Bistro again. Two of us ordered the chicken livers, and the 3rd ordered the Perch Sandwich. We were ALL in heaven once the food arrived, and once again Peggy made sure we had everything we needed right away. The owner was very visible and personable as well, and we will go back again for sure! Go for the specials!! read more

Busy for lunch, but service was still very good and food came out fast. Nice surprise to find homemade beef and noodles over homemade mashed potatoes. Price was very reasonable. My husband and I have been at the Bistro 3 times. Every time we enjoyed ourselves the food is excellent , and the atmosphere is great. The wait staff has been excellent they have been friendly and prompt. We have met the owner twice the first time he was dressed as cupid, he had everyone in a good mood and laughing. The second time he was just going around introducing himself and visiting with those dinning, we found him to be congenital, makes you feel like you have made his day and you want to come back.
