I was in Charleston working and saw commercial about some guy name Sheff running for some office, BUT what I remember most was he got a Hot Dog at THE GRILL and I had to try it out. I got a hot dog with chili, slaw and onions light on the mustard and fries with a cup of ice for my drink in the car. No dining in at the time due to Covid 19, so I paid $7 with tip and taxes. Only major complaint they didn't give me ketchup, straw or napkins. The Hot Dog was very good. Great chili and slaw. Bun was slightly steamed I definitely would eat here again

Look at the crispy, toasted effect on the split English bun!

This place is a classic hole-in-the-wall, with GREAT food! I need to get my pal Guy Fieri here to do a "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!" Episode. I had two English Dogs with chili and Cole Slaw today, on two great toasted split buns! This place has great burgers, but maybe the BEST French Fries in West Virginia! Brown and crisp on the outside, hot and moist on the inside - potato Heaven!! Great daily specials on Charleston's hip Elk City district!!!

I was in town visiting and was across the street getting my shoes repaired when I needed to kill some time and was hungry. The place is not very lavish but the food and the customer service is excellent. I had the special of the day which was catfish and fries and it was very good. I was the only person at the time so can't speak to eye candy. However, I would visit again.

First time going here and I fell in love. I don't think I will ever find a burger so juicy and flavorful like I have here, anywhere else! I got a regular cheese burger expecting it to be half dry because most burgers are like that. But no, not here, this was excellent. This burger was so juicy and cooked so well. I didn't even realize I took a bite of the burger. This is saying a lot because the burger only had cheese, tomato and light mayo. After eating the burger I almost got another one to go. The only thing that stopped me was my wallet lol if not for that. I saw another burger in my future. My friend who dined with me had hotdogs. And me being from Michigan, I was very surprised at them with the coleslaw. But if your traveling in this area and you are curious give those dogs a try. They were mouth watering too!

I love this locally owned, homemade food restaurant. Haven't been here in awhile and was craving their cheeseburger!

Delicious burgers and rubens. Hard working and friendly staff. I recommend eating here instead of a chain restaurant.

A major plus to this Seasonal Depression Sufferer! We went to the bar to place our order! We opted for the Knotty Boy Garlic Knots for $10 & the Fully Loaded Detroit Style Pizza for $15I had a bottle of water and though he was very disappointed that it was ONLY their WV Craft Beer served, he went with what the bartender recommended (closest to a PBR & Budweiser that they offered ) for $5.50, total with taxes & Tip was $42. We were surprised that the food was out in like 15 minutes. We fully expected to wait since Detroit Deep Dish normally takes 30 minutes to 45 minutes to cook fully. This led us to believe it was PAR BAKED for faster Customer Service which to many is NOT A PLUS! The Garlic Knots were very doughy and extremely dense in texture. Not a fan! The service was fast and friendly but for the atmosphere, price and the fact they are trying to be trendy, the paper plates & plastic cutlery was a BIG NEGATIVE!! I know myself even if Melanac Hard Plastic for plates is okay, but I want true Silverware!! The sauce has a really Great flavor and the cheese pull was very nice on the pizza. The sauce served on top, a big big plus!! I live in Ripley, WV and drove 35 minutes one way to enjoy this meal, but the question is...would I do it again?? Probably NOT! I give them a 5 out of 5 on atmosphere and ambience they nailed that! I give them a 4 out 5 on Customer Service because the food came too fast!! I give them a 3 out 5 for the food, the sauce was perfect but everything else about taste and flavor was a hit and miss. The score might have been higher if I had left off the Knotty Boy Garlic Knots!! The beer though I tasted it wasnt bad but Im not a beer drinker, my hubby was very disappointed so thats 2 out of 5 stars and the tableware scores a zero!! I wasn't on a picnic and the paper and plastic screams picnic or lazy kitchen staff to me!! So, would I recommend? I must say overall, 3 stars out of 5 stars! I recommend you go and decide for yourself!

LOVE the curry chicken salad!!!…read more It's been really nice having a new restaurant so close to work--I'm at the Capitol, and everything we've tried from La Porte Café so far has been delicious. My only frustration is that you can't call in an order for pickup at lunch, which led to a frustrating experience today. (It's fine if they don't take call-ahead orders--that's not my main issue.) I walked down to La Porte, stood at the cash register for a few minutes, noticed an employee sitting outside on the deck, and someone saw me in the kitchen area but never acknowledged me or said someone would be right with me. I don't mind waiting, but the lack of acknowledgment was off-putting, so I ended up leaving. I'll definitely be back, the food is really good, but the service experience could use improvement. If I owned a business on Washington Street right now, I would be calling the city regularly about the condition of the landscaping and cleanliness of the street and sidewalks. Walking from the Capitol to the café is unpleasant: it's smelly and unkempt enough that it even affected my appetite. I strongly feel that for businesses to thrive, the city needs to match their investment by maintaining the surrounding streets and sidewalks. It would make a huge difference for both patrons and business owners alike

His fries with salt and pepper completed his meal nicely. I had a bite (OK a couple bites) and it was fantastic! But you probably want to know about the service right? Well, our server, Keeley was fantastic; she took great care of us, checking on us many times during the evening. We were there for a couple of hours as there was trivia night so we had a great time. There's nothing I didn't like about this restaurant the staff or the food I would give each of them five stars.
