Not the type of place you would expect to find a little park with live oaks, cool green grass, and a few small running trails. But that's what's here - a pretty oasis of nature in the middle of suburbia that can offer you respite from a busy or stressful day. Since it is somewhat sandwiched into an unlikely area there usually aren't too many people around. This actually makes it the perfect spot for a somewhat private picnic lunch, especially when the weather is nice outside. Make sure to take the trail that goes "down" into the ravine, as that is where the park area is located. The other side is more of a running/jogging trail. You will find some beautiful trees and a nice sloping hill with some grass, a gazebo and even an outdoor barbeque. Also, as others have mentioned, this is really just a wide spot on the Serrano Creek trail, which is much longer and runs through the park. Make sure to plan your trip if you are looking on going for a longer hike. You can actually start here and go pretty far.

I would prefer more areas that were not so sandy. The playground has a nice variety of things for the kids to do - swings, slides, a little bit of climbing. Both my 3-year-old and 5-year-old loved it. On a weekend morning, it wasn't too crowded either, which was great! There are plenty of places to sit in the shade and have some snacks as well. There are bathrooms, a huge field, and a gazebo - not sure if it's by reservation only though. There's also a free little library, which is super cute! I love discovering these. Pretty good selection too. There's also plenty of parking, and it's easy to get in and out. Overall, a great place!

We leave the house, walk a couple blocks, go around the trail at the park, then walk back home! It's the perfect distance for the doggies, my wife, and I to get a little exercise and by the time we get home, our little ones are all tuckered out and mellow! Although my wife is the one to walk them 99.9% of the time, this is a great little exercise for all of us!

There are no bathrooms, they keep the park clean and they have a cute nook that holds books for anyone to grab and or leave for the next person. Fort building during the summer is here and the park transforms with a lot of creativity from the little ones. Many like the uphill to get a run in or a good hike. There's something for everyone. If you want to go for a leisure walk, let the kiddos get their wiggles out or you want some good cardio.

The park is so small that the walkway is only on one side of the park. The paved road ended at the far end of the park. Anyone feeling adventurous can follow the dirt trail all the way to the Whiting Ranch park entrance I was told. This quaint park is clearly intended for neighbors' use only as it does not have a public restroom on-site. The best asset of this park is its gorgeous view of the canyon. Clearly the Bond Fire got too close to the park when you see the wooden fence been replaced by iron stakes covered with a orange mesh, and the charred remain of trees on the other side of the fence. As small as it may be, it has more visitors than the other, larger, Borrego Park, about a mile down the hill. It seems to be very popular with dog owners walking their dog(s).

In many ways, it is the perfect park for a short afternoon picnic or a hike. Going downhill, the hike is not strenuous and not too long. The trail is easy to follow and there are ways to turn to extend your journey. There is also a small playground and a decent size grass field which can be used for games of touch football, tag, a picnic, or whatever. On a clear day, the grassy area offers a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the views of Irvine, Catalina, and the Pacific Ocean. It is also quite pretty at night. Also, since this park is on top of the hill, it is a fabulous place to fly a kite! There is usually always a breeze blowing, and when it's a bit windy the conditions are perfect. Keep in mind this is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so parking is limited and it's usually pretty quiet.
