This store is great! Uptown is smaller, they have a nice selection of pajamas, feminine boxer shorts and cute underwear! Bras in a variety of sizes.The shop keeper is reserved, helpful if you need it and helped customers of all back grounds when I was there. I purchased Christmas Owl PJ's, wrapped perfectly! West Village store- We shopped for cute PJ's during a snow storm some years back. We have shopped for bridal lingerie, nighties and cute stuffed toys! Last year I bought Eberjey underwear and a Night outfit. My favorite cute boxers came from this store! Go to either one or both, ask for help if you need it! read more

I live in the neighborhood and I love this store but not the costumer service. I've been twice and I really wanted to buy a pair of bras. They made it really difficult. The Chinese young lady and the owner an Asian old lady chased me around the store both times. Both thought I was trying to still and they were following me around. I decided to leave the store since I felt uncomfortable. If you are the owner and reading this I'm sure someone robbed you and have a trauma but not everyone stills and you're loosing costumers. read more

I am appalled! I had just left this store not more than 15 minutes ago because of the graphic conversation the owner was having over the phone with a customer. She did not greet me, and failed to come to my assistance when I needed help picking out a size. She seemed to have been making very rude and racist comments towards a customers daughter over the phone, which is extremely unprofessional and a big red flag for me as I am very familiar with prejudice in retail. I will not be giving this establishment any of my time or money again. read more

I was looking for a little something for myself for an upcoming special evening, and was so happy to find Laina Jane right here in the village. Laina was there and helped me coordinate all the pieces and I left feeling confident in how it all looked and felt. It's a small shop but they had everything I needed in my size. I just googled this store because I'm trying to order online and support some of my favorite places in the West Village during this difficult time. I was very surprised to see negative comments. I've shopped at this store many, many times over the past five years or so and have always had the best experiences. I get a lot of bachelorette gifts, some baby gifts and of course pajamas and things for myself. The employees have always been very friendly to me (yes, they always ask me to sit my coffee down but who blames them with so many cute things in there). Love this store and highly recommend if you live in the area and don't always feel like dealing with the crowds in Soho. Definitely a local favorite for me (and my friends)!! read more

Ok, so I'm a big fan of the UWS store. The salesperson there is not friendly but also really helpful. I took a friend to the village store for the first time, and it was awful. The woman was incredibly rude to us the entire time, and insisted on fitting my friend into bras that were so small they hurt her. I understand that many American women wear the wrong size, and that stores like Laina Jane need to make a show of "sizing you properly," but my friend was wearing something quite close to a perfect size already, and was condescended to when she said the options she'd been given were uncomfortably small. Any question my friend asked, the saleslady snapped at her with a rude reply. Meanwhile, the salesperson never asked me if I wanted help--and while I was primarily there so my friend could find a bra, I'm the person she could have gotten to spend a ton of money on a cute set. So that was weird and unfortunate for her. So basically I wandered around looking at nighties while I listened to my friend be treated incredibly poorly. I wasn't surprised when she came out of the fitting room looking annoyed and not wanting to buy anything. I'm super into the idea of walking into a boutique and being told what you *really* want by a knowledgable bra salesperson, but this was ridiculous. read more

While looking for a bar I stumbled upon this fabulous store! I went in to just look and walked out with 3 bras. They have a great selection of sexy, comfortable bras and many many other things. The lady working there is part owner (2 sisters) and she was extremely helpful. I loved it so much we exchanged info so I can call her up when I need new bras so I can order over the phone since I don't live in NYC. I would recommend this place to anyone. FYI They also have nipple tassels, stockings, and lingerie. read more

We were walking by this store yesterday and I was drawn inside by the many cute stuffed animals in the window (yes, I still love cute stuffed animals even well into adulthood). There are even more inside the store and they're all adorable. :) There's also a very nice selection of lingerie; very tasteful. Popped by this neighborhood shop a few weeks back while on a quest to find some new sleepwear and couldn't have had more luck! While most independent lingerie and sleepwear shops evoke that old lady feel, Laina Jane is warm and youthful. What looks like a tiny, cozy storefront is packed to the brim with an amazing selection--in my opinion, MUCH more impressive than the likes of Saks and Bloomies. Unlike the department stores, their selection caters to a hipper crowd, and goes beyond Cosabella and the other big label brands. I also recently had a fantastic customer service experience. One of the chemises I purchased was damaged the first time I wore it. The salesgirl immediately remembered me, and unlike most other stores in the City, she gladly took the item back without its receipt. There are very few shops like this left in the city. This review is for the Christopher street location. I was in here on a beautiful spring day to shop for a gift. Mind you this location is right next to Stonewall in the West Village. I'll keep this review short but the woman working made my girlfriend and I feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I'm not sure if we looked like we didn't have money or what it was. I can't imagine she was uncomfortable with a gay couple given the location, but who knows. Something made her think we were not worthy of her customer service. I didn't think it was a race issue until seeing the common threads in other reviews. We are an interracial couple, but again I can't speak to her reasoning. The reason almost doesn't matter, I just don't want to be laughed at and ignored while choosing to spend my money. There are other stores to shop at and I will go to a more inclusive store in the future. read more

I want to preface this review with saying that was the most horrific and emotionally traumatizing shopping experience I have ever had in my life. Not only was my friend and myself racially profiled by the Asian woman working there. we were kicked out of the store and told " it wasn't the place for us" ( which I can only assume means black and Muslim women aren't wanted or needed in her establishment". I was called rude for not allowing her to look at my naked body even after a barrage of snide comments about my "size". To my disbelief things were snatched out of my hands. We were LITERALLY followed around the incredibly small store. I was body shamed and kicked out of the store while my friend was being threatened with the cops being called for expressing our discomfort in the fact that we were being kicked out for not wanting assistance. If you are a woman of color I URGE YOU NOT TO SHOP HERE AND TO RECORD YOUR SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT THIS DEPLORABLE ESTABLISHMENT. They either need to close or rehire someone with a sense professionalism who will not bring there personal bigotry into the workplace. read more

I Have never had a more horrifying shopping experience in my life. The woman working there FOLLOWED myself and a friend while looking bridal shower lingerie. She did not ask if we needed help all we were greeted with were snide comments and aggressive tactics to make sure everything we touched or looked at was seen by her. Things were snatched out of our hands while other customers could come and go as they please. Were told that we unwanted at the store if we weren't going to ask for help. We were belittled, told to leave and that it wasn't the store for "us" which I can only assume meant not being a white customer meant our money wasn't wanted in her establishment. White customers could come and go as they pleased but our money wasnt wanted there. We were kicked out for refusing help and when we requested NOT TO HAVE OUR NAKED BODIES SHOWN TO THE STORE SHE RIPPED OPEN THE CURTAINS TO TELL US THAT WE COULD NOT FIT HER CLOTHES. The Asian woman working there is RACIST and she does not want black/Muslim clients in her store. She will body shame you and kick you out if you refuse to expose your naked body to her so she can check to see how everything is fitting. Not only will she make you feel terrible in front of the other customers she will stand outside of your fitting room and ask you every 2 minutes if the THREE items you have can taken because apparently if your shopping while black you're there to steal. I will NEVER shop at this establishment ever again. I am DISGUSTED by the service and I will not tolerate being racially profiled while trying to shop for PANTIES of all thing. read more

Shocked at the experience I had at this store (formerly a neighborhood favorite, I live around the corner). I bought the underwear on Friday, wore them for a few hours and they were completely ripped when I took them off. When I went to replace the in the store, the rudest, most unpleasant and truly worst customer service representative ever refused to give me a new pair, citing that "doesn't want to lose money from this" (clearly no comprehension of the customer coming first). She was condescending and did nothing to help. She blamed ME for her selling me defective underwear. She was steadfast and now I am down $20 and with brand new ripped underwear. I am absolutely never coming back to this store, and have already been sure to tell every one of my friends in the West Village about this horrible experience. So beyond disappointed. What was the worst part was how belittled she made me feel. She had absolutely zero care about the store's customers. Have never had such a bad experience as with this woman. read more

Also a great place for baby gifts as they always have the cutest selection of stuffed animals and baby outfits. Customer service is always spot on, they will help you find exactly what you need. First things first just want to say how incredible rude the Asian lady was when I walked in with my friend who lives in the west village I was visiting her to grab lunch. I live on 5th Ave and shop at all the big stores not going to mention and have a personal stylist and shopper never in my life got treated so horrible. I went in to check out a few things for my sisters new baby girl said excuse me to this guy that looked like he was 65yrs old buying lingerie for what looked like a teenager what a joke. I said excuse politely and he was saying something in German as I'm not supposed to be in the store that's how he translated it to me and rudely said I must be a good shopper. Now how did me saying excuse me nicely piss him off oh wait I know why because I was speaking in Hebrew to my friend that is trying to learn anyways the Asian lady just stood their grinning so I told both of those ignorant human beings I'm leaving and going to shop somewhere else where I belong. FYI I could buy that whole store 10 times over Please if you are Jewish do not go there the west village is not kind thank goodness I live where I live everyone is so nice around me. The west village has been very bad and unfriendly neighbourhood to shop in and dine in overall. read more

BEFORE PURCHASING, READ THIS: I asked the sales person (who happened to be the owner) whether I could return an item after purchasing since I didn't have time to try it on. She said yes. When I went to return it a few days later, she kindly explained that "return" does not mean "refund". She then gave me a little piece of paper, told me it was my store credit and if I lost it, she wouldn't be able to help me. Funny how she failed to be so precise when I was buying the item. Dear owner, I live in the neighborhood and have shopped at your store many times before. You could have been a smart business owner, made an exception and kept a client but instead, I will happily share this negative experience with my friends and tell them to avoid your store. read more

I was in a bind this past Monday -- had a surprise lunch with a friend who had just had a baby--& I wanted to bring a little gift. I suddenly remembered that nearby Laina Jane had a wonderful selection of chic baby clothes. I explained to the saleswoman that I needed a baby outfit ASAP & she helped me choose an incredibly cute dress, gift-wrapped it & I paid for it, & was in & out in 5 minutes flat.
