All yummy. The only disappointment was the pita bread. Just not great and should have been warm Laila salad - Fattet Makdous - stuffed eggplant with ground meat with yogurt garlic sauce with small crunchy pieces of pita bread. This was a bit too rich for me. My friend ordered it. Very tasty and different. Sujok - Syrian beef sausage delicious and different from Italian or polish sausage Spicy potatoes were incredible. They were crunchy so apparently fried but not greasy. Desert was baklava mushed up with a scoop of ice cream. Amazing I'd go back in a heartbeat. My friend and I were looking for a last-minute dinner spot in the neighborhood and decided to give Laila Mediterranean restaurant a try after enjoying Serena's bistro across the street. We were warmly welcomed by two women who seated us and offered us a choice of tap or sparkling water. We opted for tap water and found the open layout of the restaurant to be very inviting with a chill vibe. We decided to skip drinks and went straight for appetizers and our meals. The hummus and liver sausage appetizer was an acquired taste, but the hummus was delicious. My friend originally ordered the seafood salad, but it wasn't available, so they made an octopus salad instead which was a 10/10. I ordered the pork chops cooked medium with rice and it was absolutely delicious, also a 10/10. Overall, we had a great experience at Laila with friendly service and a great location. Looking for a place for outdoor dining and this was just the spot. Parking is a little tough, but there are valets there to assist. I ordered beef liver, labneh for appetizers and original lamb kebab for entree. The flavors were magnificent and portions are very generous, had to take left overs home. At 8 PM, the belly dancer comes out and hypes the night with an amazing performance. The dancer was incredible and really added to the festive atmosphere. I loved Laila! The food and service were fantastic throughout the whole evening without any shortage of attention or communication. I have no complaints and would highly recommend everyone to dine here. I started off with labneh and hummus paired with the table side fresh bread. Perfect starters and assured me that I was in for a good night. Waiters were very attentive and quick on their feet. Quickly came out my meat shawarma, and oh my does this dish look spectacular! The meat was cooked just right and the fries were seasoned very well. I really liked the flavor of the meat, absolutely no complaints in this department. I ended the night on a high note with their amazing kunafa, which was one of the better ones I've had. Overall, I would say if you are in the mood for Syrian food on the island, Laila must be considered. Laila in Bay Ridge is new to BK. Although the food is good, it would be better if their menu had correct descriptions of the food. I ordered Tanin Samak described as grilled fish over vermicelli noodles but the dish arrived with breaded and fried fish and what appeared to be flour coated vermicelli noodles that were also fried. I try to avoid fried foods and I was further disappointed that the fish was tasteless despite the tahini dressing on it. Hands down the best middle eastern food that is just like mom's. Everything is cooked to perfection and from the soul. The place is gorgeous, the food is just delish and the service is impeccable. I'd been to Laila's 8 or 10 times and was happy with it. This last time, 12/12, was a disappointment. Service was good but..... Kibbeh Neyah was frozen at the bottom. Muhamara was soupy and had no walnuts. Knafeh, 2 portions, was awful. Stuffed grape leaves ( 2 orders, small portion) tasted as if made a week ago and heated up. And the prices were recently raised. I hosted my 40th Birthday party there and the atmosphere was great. The owner Alan came around over and over to make sure everything was going well. Came for an early dinner. They are doing a lot of renovations in front of Lailas so it said they were open but it didn't look they were open at 3:30. We walked up the walk way and there was one table of 6-8 middle aged Syrian woman speaking Arabic, cackling with the young male waiter. (We heard them from outside) We walked in and instantly they all looked at us with judgmental eyes and started talking about us in arabic. They continued to stare and talk until they left. It felt like we weren't suppose to be in this restaurant. This was the first time I felt ethnic racism coming into a restaurant in a neighborhood I've grown up In for over 20 yrs. We did here some good things about Laila so we wanted to try the food. The restaurant inside is pretty, with brick walls and dark features. They have elaborate chandeliers and bright lighting. They just built an outside seating area for the summer and it looks like they took over another store for take out. For food we ended up getting a combo of dips: hummus, red pepper pomegranate, baba and a lemon yogurt. All were good. They just put a lot of oil on each dip. We also got falafel I felt it was gritty. The texture for me was off, they were nice and crunchy though. We also ordered the shrimp in butter with lemon and spices. It was flavorful. The shrimp was a little over cooked. We ordered the chicken and filet mignon kebabs it came with rice and some sort of salad. The filet mignon was tender and pretty much perfect. The texture of the chicken was crunchy and not pleasant. It was kind of disappointing. It was tasty. The presentation of the dishes need refinement. We also tried the pistachio cheesecake because someone said it was good. So, when it came to table it was frozen, as in rock solid!! We kinda chuckled like they couldn't have defrosted it first. To use a vendor for desserts I can understand but at least do your best to present it properly!! Overall, it's disappointing how we were treated. Went to Laila for my birthday and I couldn't have been happier with my girlfriend's choice. The place on the inside is amazingly decorated and very nice. The waiter was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed and was very attentive. We started with the stuffed grape leaves and they were fantastic and had pomegranate on it. Then my girlfriend and I both ordered fattet shawarma which was one of the best meals I've ever had. I had the lamb and she had the chicken version and both were delicious. For desert we had a special pistachio ice cream baklava which was so delicious and I'm glad we tried it. One of the best Middle Eastern restaurant I have ever come across! Food: I don't even know where to start with this one. I got to try a variety of the appetizers both cold and hot and they're on trees along with the dessert. I was not disappointed by a single item! What really stood out to me was the fresh bread that you got to dip and they're very creamy hummus. I also loved the mixed grill Potter and the Shawarma wraps. It was super flavorful and the presentation was so stunning! Drinks: I got to try their lemon mint iced drink and it was super refreshing and really went well with the food. I also got to try some over there lattes and tease which complement the desserts very well. This is one of my favorite middle eastern restaurants on the island. The atmosphere is beautiful -- they have outdoor and indoor seating and the decor is just stunning. They also sometimes have belly dancers (on weekends I believe) so that's really cool! I would recommend the lamb (pictured) as it was so tender, soft, delicious, and slid right off the bone. The mezze plate is also something that I recommend! There are also no drinks offered here, so keep that in mind. Servers are attentive and very kind. read more

Met up on a double date dinner at Laila. Ambiance is really nice, gas lantern replicas on brick walls, brass tea kettles and bold brass plates on shelves create an intimate atmosphere. We ordered several apps, Kibbeh was crisp and flavorful, tabouleh hummus and baba ganoush were some of the freshest I've had. 4 stars because the main entree, one I was really looking forward to was lacking. Fattet Mozat. The lamb shank was not fall off the bone juicy as is the custom in most middle eastern cooking, tahini and garlic yoghurt cancelled each out and what you're left with is a bland sauce on white rice making the most expensive item on our menus pretty bland and disappointing. This place is a gem! If you're looking for authentic Middle Eastern food that is made fresh to order, finger licking good, and great hospitality then look no further on this Island. You will not be dispointed, and will walk way extremely pleased. This restaurant is located in a shopping strip with valet parking. You can be seated outdoor or inside. The elegance of this restaurant shows with the Middle Eastern decorations, table layouts, furniture, and chandeliers. To top it off the staff is super friendly, smiles so bright, accommodating, and hospitable. Came here an hour before they closed, and it felt like they just opened up for the day. The staff were enthusiastic to have me come in regardless of the time. I even stayed almost a half hour after they were closing up. They did not rush me out either. It just our waitress, it every staff that passed by my table would check in (with a smile) to see if I needed anything else. That's so nice to see, and does not happen in many restaurants. As to the food. The menu is diverse with many great dishes, and some unique creations I've never experienced before. Every dish was fresh and delicious. It was not the leftover of the day that was sitting out for awhile. All of the meat in the mixed meat platter was tender that a knife was not needed for cutting. It was also very delicious and flavorfully marinated with their unique spices. The kanafeh desert is a must! Just take a look at the video, and you'll see what I mean. It's a masterpiece. You can tell they put out only the best no matter what time you come in to eat. Plus, they have a pretty big menu with many delicious items. Coming back again is a must to try out more items. This is a restaurant I can see myllsef coming to at least once a week. One of Staten Island's hidden gems! Interior: What a nice vibe inside. Very large with also a canopy and outdoor seating outside. It's very chill and intimate! Food: Chicken Shawarma: So good! They give you so much and the fries are legit! Very good. I was too full to finish everything so the price print is def worth it as well. Highly recommend.
