    Campsite 5

Came on a Saturday in May, stayed until Sunday, one night exactly. At night, they lock the parking lot up, so you can't drive your car away after 10pm or so. My friend who booked the site, said it was $50 a night and that every camp spot could only have 3 cars reserved in the lot, with pieces of paper on the dashboard, indicating such. There are a few sites that're smaller, in the grass, and then there's a giant family lot, for big events. When we went, there was apparently a giant AA family camping gathering happening, with lots of music and people. There is little to no privacy using trees at this camp ground. I didn't go in the water, but some people were out there splashing around. I was told that there's no much to see if you decide to go snorkeling here. The bathrooms were managed okay, with real plumbing and lit up at night, and seemed to be cleaned often, but bring your own soap/hand sanitizer! Also, bring toilet paper because these bathrooms run out of it fast, as the day goes on. The worst part of the camp grounds was just waking up with a bunch of ants in my tent that were trying to get away from the sun, as well as the drunken house party across the street from the camp grounds that ended in broken beer bottles and lots of shouting and screaming.

    Really strong waves here.

***Pre COVID-19 Visit*** This is a really nice beach and they have shower facilities. It doesn't get too crowded, but I imagine on the weekends it may obviously get more people. You'll at times feel that you're probably the only one here, but that's okay. Watch out for the twigs and cones on the sand! They can be very sharp and painful if you step on them. It's a beach where mainly locals gather, but the water is a bit rocky for me. Other than that, it's close to the Polynesian Cultural Center so you might as well grab some Dole Whip! Plus, just head on over to Kahuku to get some shrimp since you're close by:o) Mahalo!!!

Perfect spot for my boys to boogie board! The waves were fun, but not too overwhelming. Great place to stop after Kualoa Ranch! Not crowded at all and beautiful views!

    No one for miles.

Fine sand. Lots of shade. Beach all to yourself. Now doesn't this seem like a beach you wanna go to? This beach is not too far from PCC and you might not think that this was a beach at first glance because of the big grassy area but that's because it's a beach park. Mind you I knocked off a couple stars cause it's more park than beach. If you are trying to tan, I don't know if this beach is for you. The times I've been here, I haven't even touched sun. There are so much trees surrounding the area that it gives you a great deal of shade. But that could be a plus, depending on how you see it. I love how fine the sand is here. Some beaches have really coarse sand. Again, it's about your personal preferences. I haven't seen this place crowded. With that being said, there are good chances that you can have a portion of beach to yourself. I find that pretty awesome and relaxing at the same time. I only wished I didn't live so far away from here. These are one of those places you go just to get away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Sometimes you just need to find a place like that. This is one of those places.

One of the most beautiful and quiet beaches on Oahu. My family rented a beach house on this beach and didn't see more than 4 people besides our group the whole 4 days we were there. Laie is located on the North Shore of O'ahu. It's one of my happy places.

This is a great camping spot (if your lucky) with a great beach. There are only five camping spots. 2 and 3 are on top of the burm. You have a commanding veiw of the beach but are more susceptible to high winds at these two spots so dont forget your tie downs. 1,3 and 5 are on the grass area protected by the burm from the onshore winds. Park workers remove and replace trash bags every morning along with shooting down the restooms. That is when they are the cleanest. It gets pretty bad durring the day. The campgrounds get pretty crowded especially durring a holiday weekend and the sanitary conditions sometimes get overbearing. Really good beach for the kids. Look for sand crabs at night with flashlights. Now, it depends when you go and who's camping next to you. The proximity to the next camper is a lot bigger than Bellows but sometimes when we went, there were people partying til the wee hours of the morning with music fricking blaring. I dont know about you but I like it quiet especially when night falls. Not too loud but acceptable loud. Not where you can just make out what your partner just said. Sometimes you luck out and the other campers are on the same page as you. All you hear is the kids having fun. (Bliss) nothing can beat that type of noise. We went there 7/6/13 and this time it was loud generators, loud music, yelling all through the night plus someone was setting off fireworks too at 10:00 at night! WTF! Durring the day there was a jet ski towing kids on this inflatable chair all around the bay and along the shoreline. They were even riding it at night. It was a cloudy moonless night. I couldn't see it but I could hear it. The gates close at 7:30pm so get your ice or whatever before then. The gate does open earlier than it supposed to at 6:00am. So it really depends who's camping when you do. Also, this is a five day camping spot so its $50.00 no matter if you stay for two days its still $50.00 Happy camping!

Kokololio or better known to locals : Kekelas and Alligator pond will always be one of my top favorite Oahu beaches. Lots of beautiful sand, sunsets and sunrises. Alligator pond offers amazing tide pools for the Keiki

    Perfect place for a nap.

Stumbled across this beauty of a beach while exploring North Shore. Perfect blend of sun and shade. Sand is so soft. Water is gorgeous shades of blue. We saw a sea turtle swim by. Absolutely beautiful!

The view from site #2 and site #3... Good stuff :)

As I was walking this trail, my brain is telling me this is a mini Aiea loop trail with great view of the Windward side of Oahu. Parking is a challenge. The location is inside, one way, Kokokahi Place neighborhood so there's only street parking. We were lucky to find spacious area to park. The view here is great considering we only hike up 20-30 minutes. Total trip length was 2 miles. That was little disappointing because I like to get most out of my hikes. I feel like I got ripped off on this hike with little sweat. As for intensity, you do have to climb up but lots of ropes to help you. Luckily it was a dry day so no mud. This trail is quite narrow so it may not be kid friendly. Also, if you're on the taller side, watch out for branches. This is not State trail so it seems like it's not kept up regularly.

This is a very short hike that loops around, so you shouldn't be running into anyone on the narrow pathway. Start right, like driving! There's nothing steep, treacherous, or difficult. The Friendship Garden is very well maintained. Maps and information are provided at the beginning. At the top, you'll find beautiful views Kaneohe Bay. There's also a pathway that leads to another hike that's clearly more difficult and not apart of the Friendship Garden. Warning signs posted! The only difficult thing might be finding this place because it's quite hidden, deep in a residential area. It's located on Kokokahi Pl, which you can reach from Kaneohe Bay Dr. Just drive all the way up, and it'll be to your left. You can only park along the side of the road. Make sure to leave enough space, and also be mindful of the signs! No parking from 6-11AM on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which is probably trash pick up days. Overall, a really nice, easy hike with well maintained pathways. It might be a journey to get there, but it's worth it. Bring friends and make new friends!

Location is in Kailua, right off the main drag on Hamakua Street (look for the bright yellow building). The parking lot has about a half dozen stalls on the right hand side (beware you may be towed if you park on the left side). I asked the manager where to park as the signage wasn't very clear, so be warned. Pricing: Rates are per child: $15 for one hour, $20 two, $27 for three, and so on. Adults are $3 each. Grip socks are required for all (customers are allowed to bring their own). They also offer all day rates and monthly passes (M-F only). They also feature a stamp card for loyal customers: buy 10 sessions, get one free! There's a bunch of toys and entertainment for all ages: a carousel, obstacle course, slide, Lego stations, and play supermarket. A few unique stations are the rock climbing wall, concert/band area (with drums, piano, ukulele, and microphones), and a big screen TV that featured cartoons for the kids. Open seven days a week. The kids love the trampolines, lego sets, ball pit, and rock climbing wall. Restrooms available. Thanks Hi Keiki Playground for bringing the FUN to Kailua! We wish you all the joy and success!
