There was one man sitting at the counter and he genuinely greeted my friend and I. As I looked through the sunglasses, Josh took out each pair I wanted to try on. He wasn't pushy, but he was knowledgable about sunglasses and answered my question about which kind of glasses would suit my face better. I have never owned designer sunglasses, and I think Josh was part of the reason why I decided to get myself some luxury. Being mostly loyal to the brand, even after trying Maui Jim's, I was delighted the next night after dinner on Front Street when I looked in through the store window and saw the logo inside. Mark quickly greeted me at the door. He and Bo were very friendly and helpful. Mark was very knowledgeable and help me compare a few different frames and even mixed in a pair of Maui Jim's. Been looking for a specific style of Maui Jim's for 3 months. Could only find them online, but my husband wanted to try them on before committing to them. Every Sunglasses Hut we went to in Canada and the US said that style was either too new for them to have or that they were old and not being sold in stores anymore. Walked into Sunglass Boutique on Front Street and I found them immediately. The very nice girl got them out for us. My husband tried them on, but they were too small for his face. I immediately fell in love with them. He decided to go with another style that he had found while we were searching. We talked about it and how SGH had a sale and asked if they would price match the sale. She made a phone call and the manager said go ahead. I admit that the sign that claimed "Customized Maui Jim's" peaked my interest. Their explanation did not meet the customized advertisement. Having said that, this shop mimics most Sunglass Hut. High end sunglasses at a high cost. Prices are no different from Sungalss Hut. It's on Front Street, so the location is primo. So I guess if you are looking for a high end sunglass and you're on Maui, this is a good as place as any. read more

My friends and I wandered in here after a day of sailing because one of them did not bring sunglasses on his vacation to Hawaii (he didn't bring sunscreen either--don't ask, but I won a bet on predicting that one :-)). The staff-person was friendly and polite and let the 3 of us try on a bunch of different pairs, even though only one of us was gonna purchase. Turns out, I tried on a pair I liked so much, I bought them--sneaky marketing at its finest ;-). But seriously, they had a huge range of brands--ranging from the reasonably priced to the ridiculously expensive and a variety of styles. Selection is obviously sub-par to bigger stores, not competitive in terms of return policy (NO RETURNS), owner is not local and does not value his customers. Read-on for the details... After the cashier gave me bad info about their Maui Jim selection, I purchased and then found a better pair/better price down the block at Sunglass Hut. I went back to return my new shades, never worn, and was met with NO RETURNS (this despite being told they had ALL Maui Jim models, I would not find different elsewhere. I asked the cashier to call the owner, he did, but warned "he's from New Jersey, I don't think it will help." Been wearing Maui Jims since the early nineties and was excited to treat myself to a new pair while on vacation. Had to go to what I thought would be the mecca for them but was disapointed with the customer service at the Maui Jim factory store. Stumbled across the Lahaina Sunglass Boutique and Jonah solved the issues I was having with my current pair (pain behind my ears). At that point I didn't really need new shades but after wanting to try the new blue lenses for a while I bought a pair and he adjusted the temple arms for me to make them comfortable as well. These guys are great. First, I have transition prescription lenses, but they have never been great for REAL SUN like in Maui. Steve was great and set me up with my prescription in rose colored lenses. They are fabulous. Of course, he had to send them to me in TX, because they needed some time to make them. Since they were bifocals, I wondered if they would need adjustments at home, but no, they fit and were made perfectly. Great place, great glasses and great people. read more

Great service (especially Fedi-the charming foreign guy) and the prices. BEWARE!!!!!! THIS PLACE WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!! I have no option but to rate it this shop 1 star. Do not buy from this place. The salesman are quick and friendly but the owner is a total Jerk who doesn't care about his customers. I bought some Ray Bans for my wife for Valentines Day. I paid $220 cash. Walked out the store and realized the glasses were made in China. I tried to get my cash back 30 seconds after my purchase. The salesman tried calling the owner for permission and he didn't even talk to me. The owner hung up on the salesman and refused to talk to me. The salesman called the manager Stephanie and she said sorry but she could not refund my cash or the owner would fire her. Both the salesman and manger knew that the right thing to do was to refund my cash but the owner would not allow. How can you sell high end merchandise and not refund a customer back who is dissapointed. Absolutely unacceptable!!!!!! Do not support this boutique. The owner is a crook!!!!! read more

Our sales person Jonah was very accommodating asking us all of our preferences before helping us select a pile of "favorites" . In 1980 I went to Maui on vacation for the first time - with no sunglasses. I found a grass hut on Napili Beach where they only carried Maui Jim sunglasses. Had to have a pair so I dropped $180 on a pair and became hooked. Sent them in a few times for much needed repair after being rolled over by a suitcase and sat on. I was so excited when I went back to Maui almost ten years ago and went into The Sunglass Boutique and met Stephanie. Since then I've hooked numerous people on Maui Jim's and The Sunglass Boutique. I can't begin to tell you how many pair my family has purchased from Stephanie - she know us so well she can say no you don't want this pair, it won't fit your face or you won't be happy with it - OR - you gotta see this pair. She has sent at least seven pairs to us in the state of WA each and every pair has thrilled us to death.
