Made the trip back down to Lahaina. I knew I had to get some shades when my bag went "Crunch" coming out of the airplane. Thankfully my girlfriend and I found Michael at Lahaina Sunglass Company. We where greeted immediately with Aloha and given the professional quick run down on the store and products. Great selection. Fantastic advise. I told Michael how I was looking for some wrap arounds. He put me onto the Maui Jim's Local Kine's in matte black and green blue lens. Absolutely perfect combo. Never have I owned a pair of shades so light that fit so good. Doesn't even feel like I am wearing glasses when they're on. The polarized lens cuts right through the water glare. My gal got herself another set of Maui Jim's Baby Beaches. She tried on several other pairs. She has a narrow head so it's hard to find wraps that don't stick out far from her temples. After deciding on the baby beaches michael was super cool to help adjust her nose pads and arms to fit her perfectly. We walked in intending to purchase a pair of Maui Jim's I'd been thinking about for a year. We found Tyler tending the store. He showed me the frame style I'd been dreaming about and I asked to see it in a color they did not have in stock. Tyler told me it was no problem to get the other color I wanted to try and to come back in 5 days when he would be back at the shop. He "was going to walk over to the MJ warehouse and pick it up. They are just up the street". I also told him I needed prescription lens in the frames. He told me I just needed my script and I could mail them to the MJ lab to get that done. I waited until the day Tyler was due back at the store and popped in. He did not get the frame in the color I wanted to see. Changed his story to 'my boss wouldn't let me' because it wasn't a firm sale. Hmmm, Ty had my contact info to let me know this in advance of me waiting and coming back to make my purchase. No call, plus, his phone # wasn't accepting vm. Frustrated with Ty, I left and walked down Front street to another MJ dealer to find all the colors in the frame I was interested in. In addition, I was informed that I could not send the frames to MJ on my own to get the prescription lenses put in. It must be done by a registered optometrist, which The Sunglasses Boutique has onsite. I made my purchase of the MJ frame I'd wanted for a year, but no thanks to Ty at Lahaina Sunglass Co. We had the pleasure of a visit today to this fabulous store on Front Street!!! The little place is welcoming, organized and appealing. Holland, the shopkeeper, was literally AMAZING! He had a ton of positive energy, was super friendly, helpful (not pushy in the slightest) and professional. Worst experience in a store I've ever had. I don't ever write reviews but felt obligated to do so after what just occurred. Was very rushed into buying a pair of Oakley's near closing time but decided to go through with it when the guy working lowered the price and said he'd sell them tax free - should've been a red flag. He hastily took my money (cash), but before leaving the store I noticed the sunglasses had a chip on the side. Having just forked over $140, I wanted them to be brand new. I simply asked if he had another pair that were still in the box, to which he said the display pair were the only ones he had. I then nicely asked if I could have my money back, and everything went south. The guy seriously lost his mind - swearing and slamming the cash register with his fist until it supposedly read "error," and (again supposedly) would not open. He repeatedly dropped f-bombs in front of my mom and little sister, even after I told him to watch his mouth. It seriously took twenty minutes going back and forth with this guy and listening to him rant and rave until finally I told him I was calling the police... and magically he was able to open the register and he finally returned my money to me. We walked out the door and he followed us the whole way out and down the street, saying nasty things the entire time. I wish I could further describe the catastrophe that just occurred, but I imagine nobody wants to read a review that long. I would not recommend this store to ANYONE, especially with Sunglasses Hut just a few stores up the street. I have never experienced customer service as terrible as I just witnessed. read more

My Mother and I celebrated her 70th Birthday in Hawaii!!! We decided to go out in search for a new pair of Maui Jim's as well as some Rainbows and MARC was AMAZING! The selection of Maui Jim sunglasses were out of control. Marc was able to help us out, no pressure either, especially since we were probably on his last nerve from all of the pairs we were trying on. This has been the only place in Maui we have found Rainbows and such an expansive collection of MJ's. We also found out about Costa's here. On 11/22/2016 my wife Jen decided she might need a new pair of sunglasses. Upon entering we were greeted by Marc and the store ambassador Beau (man, that dog's got a big head). Marc introduced himself and quickly got to the crux of our visit. Oddly, he didn't push brands but instead advised styles and lenses according to Jen's needs. Marc offered a few different shapes to compliment Jen's face and she wholeheartedly agreed. As other reviews have hinted Marc is a walking/talking brain trust on everything sunglasses. In easily digested terms he covered the different manufacturing processes & locations, the pros and cons of different lenses, why pair "A" is better than "B" and the politics of pricing between brands. I went to the store with my son-in-law to have his new Costa sunglasses adjusted. I asked Marc if he had any suggestions for Costa sunglasses that would fit over my prescription glasses. He showed me two. He described the warrantee and the quality of the lenses and I bought he pair that fit over my glasses. He spent the time to adjust it perfectly and I left a very happy customer. My husband and I came in today to buy new Maui Jim sunglasses for myself and were assisted by Marc. He was very helpful and actually informed me about ALL my options. I ended up buying a new pair of beautiful Costa sunglasses (I like them better than any of the Maui Jim's!). Marc lied to me. BE WARNED he is a smooth talker ... I bought the Tuna Alley with the 580 lens that he told me repeatedly could not get scratched (he showed me with his keys trying to scratch them) and if somehow they did they would be covered under warranty for free. Nope. Not only are they not covered for scratches they (Costa) want to charge me 85 to repair them. I paid almost 300 for these and they are garbage and Costa won't do anything about it. Marc sold me a pair of Kate spade sunglasses. He was very knowledgable about polarized sunglasses, which made me want to return the pair of kate spades to buy a pair of Maui jims. Overall I had a positive experience, but I felt after mentioning that I was interested in buying Maui Jims, he became kinda pushy about trying to sell me a pair. He pulled out what felt like the majority of Maui jim sunglasses in store for me to try in attempt to help me find a pair that I liked even though I was becoming obviously not interested because we couldn't find a pair that looked good on me.
