Street Tacos on Taco Tuesday ($12 for 3): Chicken, Steak, and Pork.
    Tracey A.

Lagunitas General Store is one of several places you'll see as you make your way from the town of Fairfax out to the coast. It's got the West Marin vibe and serves a clear need in the community for a store where one can pick up what's necessary without going over White's Hill to bigger stores. I'm just a passer-by though, and when I did recently I noticed a Taco Tuesday special ($12 for 3 street tacos) that got me inside. There, between two of us, we sampled all 3 versions (beef, pork, and chicken) and between us we couldn't agree on which was best. What we did agree on? All were fine but none were so good that we'd be planning a return visit. What might get me back is knowing that they serve Straus soft serve (in which I indulged). On this visit they had only vanilla. An asset to the community, no doubt, but - taco curiosity satisfied - any future visits for this non-local will likely be fully focused on the soft-serve.

This is the menu, and I hope it helps you find something to order. Smash burger is the best thing IMO.

Incredible sandwiches and same great store as always! New owners are awesome! Including a pic of the key to help you decide what to get. The Munson's is a chicken wrap served hot and is absolute fuego

Lagunitas Grocery Store is the perfect pit stop for a nature filled day or weekend. They have a variety of grocery items: a selection of wine, fire wood, snacks, toiletries, and quintessential camping items like marshmallows, campfire popcorn, and instant rice. We had everything we needed for our weekend getaway at Samuel Taylor, and really only made a stop here for what they're known for: their deli, sandwiches, and friendly staff. I got the Rueben sans rye, replaced with Dutch crunch. It was absolute perfection. The pastrami was seasoned beautifully and wasn't dry or tough. They were cut into thin slices which made getting the perfect bite that much easier. My husband got the bbq sandwich and added onions and jalapeños. You get the smokiness of the meat and bbq sauce, and the tang from the pickled jalapeños. Grab yourself a bag of chips and a drink from the fridge to pair with your sandwich. Eat it inside and enjoy the tunes, or outside and enjoy the crisp, fresh air. Tip: This is the closest grocery store to Samuel Taylor park which is about a 10-15 minute drive. Consider stopping here if you need firewood and other essentials.

On your way to the redwoods or Point Reyes Station watch for this building with the ivy covered Ghost sign and pull into the parking lot. Get out of you car and go into the cafe/ grocery store and feel yourself transported into the 1960's. Feel your shoulders drop and maybe even notice that you are smiling. This is one of my bliss places. The food is great, the vibe is good. Its both dog and people friendly.

The co-owners, Loring and Jules. They're really nice folks.

I've been stopping by this place for many many years as going to the coast is one of my favorite escapes. The Sir Francis Drake Boulevard is one of the most efficient thoroughfares from U.S. 101 so this is a much traveled route for me. I've always like this place, but on this one stop, I happen to have a chat with one of the co-owners, Loring, who says they bought the place about three years ago. I knew there was something different. It just felt like it. While I always enjoyed the food in the past, Loring and Jules, the other co-owner, have raised the bar. It's not always the case when establishments change hands. When something you enjoyed just got better? What a lovely surprise. The food is good and they serve good stuff. I'll just call it "country chic" for the lack of a better personal term. Lagunitas Grocery just a bit east of Samuel P. Taylor State Park, midway from 101 to Point Reyes National Seashore and a whole lot of other destinations. So if you're motoring on through, give these guys a chance to prove their mettle to you. I truly enjoyed their food, not to mention their warm hospitality.

Did this store go out of business? IF so, in May 2025 or May 2026? It's unclear. Thank you, neighbors!

It has been reborn and is open for business under new ownership. You should definitely stop by and check it out. Everything has been refreshed, lots of food options, outside seating. Truly a gem in the valley.

A constant steam of locals visited for the deli or market in the hour I was there. Still, it was quiet with a few seats and a table inside and a few outside where you could eat your sandwich or other food. Cute little gift ideas and a few cotton and tie-dyed items for purchase. The workers were considerate and pleasant to talk with. There were little, handwritten notes next to certain food items--such a personal touch I've never seen anywhere else before. Adorable sign for the name, and a sweet mural of a horse you can see approaching the market or view it from the inside looking out.

Prices extremely fair for the location, quality is great, and I love the small town feel. There's also a part of the store where you can buy a bottle of wine. I didn't ask if you could open it while you eat your sandwich but I can totally see myself coming back in the future and doing just that. There's a little fridge with nice cheeses you could buy and eat with your wine. I loved that there was indoor and outdoor seating. Very accommodating for weather changes. This place is so cute. Love it. Wanna live here and make it my local country store.

There are two self service ordering screens, and the orders were ready about 15 minutes after ordering. The soft serve does get prepared quicker and they call your name only once or twice before setting it down on a cone holder on the counter so stay nearby to make sure you can hear your name get called! Same goes for the sandwiches, one of our sandwiches was done for a while but we never heard our name and had to go up and ask. The soft serve is made with jersey cow milk now - I never got the chance to try it when it was still buffalo milk but the soft serve was rich and creamy and the perfect cold treat after a hike at point reyes. We took our sandwiches to go and enjoyed them outside - I got the Foggy Garden which is a veggie sandwich with pesto and a basil and garlic soft cheese; it was tasty and large but I do wish there was a bit more roasted veggie. It was still quite filling because of how much soft fluffy focaccia there was but as a veggie sandwich it' would be nice if it was a little more substantial. Overall, a nice quick stop to grab some tasty bites on your way to or from Point Reyes! I'd definitely grab the soft serve again.

Heard about the buffalo milk soft serve, but FYI, they no longer have it! They've replaced it with a regular milk soft serve instead. I got the 4-cheese mac & cheese, and honestly, it wasn't very good. The noodles were way too soft, and the sauce was thin and pretty flavorless. It also made me feel a little sick afterward. For the price, I expected it to be a lot better. The market itself is really cute, though, and I'd definitely try some of their other stuff if I'm back in town. The service was also great -- everyone was super friendly! Food: 5/10 Service: 9/10

One day, I stumbled upon The Farm Stand, and it felt like discovering a hidden treasure. It is, without question, one of the best farm stand experiences I've ever had, and I've been to a lot of them. Jim could probably sell anything, but that's because he's genuinely passionate about what he does. He curates only the very best, though truthfully, the produce and goods largely sell themselves. What sets this place apart is the care behind it. The attention, the pride, the hospitality - all the things that feel like they're are waning from our country. We've become so accustomed to transactional experiences and mediocre service that they've almost become the norm. Then you encounter a place like this and realize what you've been missing. It's like waking up from a fever dream and wondering, "Why isn't everything this good?" I now drive from Sebastopol to visit The Farm Stand regularly. Not just for the incredible food, but for the experience itself. It's a reminder that places built with intention, passion, and genuine human connection still exist. And somehow, that nourishes something much bigger than an appetite!!!

I should have known better when he didn't weigh the watermelon at all ($2.5/lb) and just put both of them in a bag. Then he said they were $12 each! And when I asked what the prices of the mangoes or apples were, he (arbitrarily) gave me a price quote. PEOPLE BE CAREFUL! Make sure your produce is weighed at the cash register. And ask for prices BEFORE you start selecting your produce. Especially if you are merely driving through from out of town. Karma will get back at these dishonest salespeople. PS. I didn't question his prices at the cash register because I felt embarrassed, especially with several people waiting in line behind me. We came here three separate times during our stay and they always had what we needed....Toothbrush, razors, cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and they were just a 5 minute walk from the rental. **Side note in case anyone is searching reviews looking for a bathroom** I was outside one afternoon with our dog waiting on the bench in front for my husband to grab me a drink and a car full of young ladies pulled up doing the potty dance and rushed in. There are signs that say "no public restroom" and I guess staff adhered strictly to it because they came out panicked and still squirming. I told them I wasn't from the area but there is a park across the street and although it's a little hidden, there is a porty potty on the East side. They thanked me and ran off and later thanked me again when I saw them in town. If we stay in Stinson again, I won't worry about overpacking because this market has what you need....except a bathroom!

Banh mi Ba was closed today because they aren't open on Tuesday so I decided to get a sandwich from the Good Earth deli. It was meant to be a tofu banh mi -- It was on sourdough baguette with a pair of massive slabs of baked tofu. I give them credit for the delicious Japanese style pickle, but there simply wasn't enough of it and the scanty slices of daikon were OK, but ultimately this was better as a salad without the bread and added vinaigrette myself. Those chunks of tofu were undeniably tofu, but it was just not a great sandwich experience. The funny thing is, I had asked a couple of men dining outside the grocery store. If there was anything they recommended at the deli. They both told me what they had ordered and suggested requesting extra barbecue sauce for the brisket because it's quite dry. I was not expecting my tofu sandwich to be so dry but also soggy. I'll stick with Banh mi Ba for my banh mi -- and try other things at good earth going forward. Also, I just want to note that last November on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, my tire was vandalized by somebody who stuck a knife into it twice in on purpose purposes of the sidewall. They do not have cameras on the parking lot and even Fairfax police said "oh well we can't take reports for things that happened on private property" which honestly makes me wonder what they do when somebody breaks into a house or does something on "private" property. Does that mean laws are not enforced on private property in Fairfax? Stay tuned.

To be fair, they do also carry some alcohol, but the alcohol section pales in comparison to the sodas. I bought a bottle of Cock N Bull apple ginger beer (for anyone who doesn't already know this, ginger beer, like root beer, is completely non-alcoholic), and a can of Pocasville bebida de T de hibiscus. I was going to pick out more drinks, but noticed that there were no price stickers anywhere. So, naturally, I wanted to know how much they cost before picking too many out. When I went to the register with my two items, I was given some serious sticker shock. It was well over seven dollars for two sodas. Of course I understand that food is really expensive right now, and that, the further the food has to be transported before purchase, the more it costs. Still, wow. That seemed so high. In addition to the amazing selection of overpriced sodas, this small store also had a great selection of (pricey) chocolates, cheeses, and hiking snacks. Additionally, they have a produce section that actually makes the store in Curry Village Yosemite look good. There were exactly two lemons, two limes, three oranges, four apples, and one piece of ginger. The cashier was maybe a little odd, but friendly. He recognized the people in front of me by name, and had a nice little conversation with them. The store was neither exceptionally clean or dirty, but looked clean enough. Parking was very limited with only about three spots out front, but there appeared to be more places to park across the street. I did not yet patronize the fresh sandwich deli, which seems to be the main feature of this store. Maybe another time.
