Great little dive bar on the main drag at Wrightsville Beach! Nice man cave like atmosphere. Was able to chill out here and have a beer. Nice selection of craft cans/bottles. Scored a tallboy of local Edward Teach Session Ale for $5. Not too shabby! Bartender was a super cool chick to hang out and talk with. For some reason it said that Yelpers reported this location closed - NOT TRUE - alive, kicking and serving brews!!!! No frills - just a great place to drink and talk - not too loud. This place was a surprise. Not a top shelf bar by any means , but a great street bar. The best thing is that Kathleen pours a strong drink. After the beach sun was baking us, we stopped off here for a drink. Well we were surprised but went in anyway. Parking i the rear of the bar also. We had a great time and the people that come here are very friendly. We struck up many conversations with the patrons. Yes, the drinks were made strong, that is why people always come back. Real beach dive bar! Small and facing street with outdoor tables and indoor huge bar. Big beer list and full bar. Lots of locals and people with their dogs on leashes. Very friendly and welcoming Ultra causal, shorts and flip-flops. Have membership book to sign in-they take your ID and scan it and hand you a card for a year so no need to be IDed again in the future. I've never been a big beach bars fan because I hate the crowd that being said I have a new found appreciation for these bars during the off season and early afternoon. Yesterday after a walk on the beach some friends and I decided to swing by here for a drink. We initially went to Light House but it started to rain and their outdoor is not covered so we packed up the fur babies and headed to Lager Heads. This small, quaint dive bar with a covered front porch, perfect for a rainy Monday. As soon as we entered my dog was the most popular person in the bar. A girl immediately approached and asked to pet my dog. I laughed and handed my dog over so she could hold him while I ordered my drink. We only stayed for a drink but this may be my new go to beach bar for afternoon drinking. Great beer selection and welcoming. read more

Dive bar is right! I love coming to this place when I'm hanging out in Wrightsville Beach. Especially after a long day laying in the sun and being near the water, it's so fun to stop in for a few drinks. The people here are friendly and easy to talk to. The staff is busy and does a nice job of multi-tasking. The bar is very small, but there is both an inside and outside area. The feel is comfy and casual. You can wear anything you roll in with from the beach, bathing suit, flip flops....really laid back environment. So basic overall: nice people, strong shot, cool music! Fun! read more

This was next to our beach house so it was a nice little walk for some booze. It's most definitely a dive bar and seems to be pretty popular in the area. The service was absolutely terrible 2 out of the 3 times we went. We went twice yesterday. The first time there was a burly bartender who was grumpy and rude as can be. Idk if he was an owner or what but he certainly did not appreciate my business. But we went back for a quick drink and there was a young, energetic bartender with purple hair and a Metallica shirt on. While I enjoyed her personality, she talked with her friends for like 20 min and did not take drink orders or greet the folks coming in the door. Super frustrating. read more

I can't remember the last time I had a $2 bottle beer, or a $3 craft draft! Amazing! This is a cool bar, with TVs to watch football, or you can hang out on the porch and enjoy the weather. Decided to stop by this place with a friend because there was a pretty good crowd. CAUTION don't use the men's bathroom because that door will fall on your foot and the bearded Alpha wanna be male bartender will refuse to even give you a ice pack for your broken toes. I would really like to know how this person even got hired at this place. Gladly the another bartender actually knew something about being social and a good employee and gave me an ice pack. Equal parts dive bar and beach bar, Lagerheads was my wife and my bar of choice during our all-too-brief stay in Wrightsville Beach. This is a great spot to drop in for a drink in the afternoon or evening. It's a bar utterly without pretense. You walk in and you immediately know you're in a watering hole. The daytime crowd here seems to be a small crew of locals with the occasional tourist straggler dropping in after baking in the sun for a sufficient amount of time. At night, the crowd grows and changes radically but remains pleasant and easygoing nonetheless. By about 10 PM this place looks like a box of pastels exploded in a polo shirt factory and they handed out the result to male patrons. Similarly, the bar begins to take on the aroma of a bottle of Pantene shampoo as groups of young women walk in and out of the bar. Yes, at a glance it sounds like it's some sort of frat and sorority reunion but it's far less pretentious than that and everyone remains very friendly and likable. The addition of live music later in the evening results in some drunken, flailing dancing that is the hallmark of we folk without a shred of rhythm but it's all good fun as most of the people at the bar were feeling very little pain by that point. In any case, we had a great time here and would absolutely return when we are next in Wrightsville Beach. The bartenders are all competent and efficient and, in general, it's just the type of laid back place that should be appealing to most beach goers. read more

Lots of regulars and not too much seating available, so if you're lucky enough to snag a barstool, you better not move! Regardless, it's a great place to quench your thirst after a day at the beach, and provides its patrons with excessively inexpensive drinks; I don't think I've ever had a bar tab so low for how intoxicated I got. On a warm night, drinking $2 Corona's outside of Lager Heads isn't a bad way to go. The patio provides a nice view for the street action. Nice weather in the evenings brings people out, there were lots of kids roaming around in the streets going back and forth to Jerry Allen's and the occasional car getting pulled over by the Wrightsville Beach popo for added excitement. Lager Heads only has beer and maybe wine, but it's cheap beer and there's a plastic cup dispenser on the wall next to the door b/c glass isn't allowed outside. A laid back kind of place. read more

WORST BAR IN ALL OF WRIGHSTVILLE BEACH, BETTER YET ALL OF NORTH CAROLINA! Disregard (Elite 12') except that it's ok during the day if you are at the beach and want a drink. If you go there any time after dark. Worst bar ever! The service is terrible, not friendly. The crowd is rowdy college kids filled with too much testosterone, mad that they are not involved in female conversation, so they look for fights. The door man literally pulled the stool out from under my girlfriend and said "That's my chair, Thanks". Then he said "If you want a fucking seat go get one from inside". I couldn't help but to laugh at the power trip this guy had. If it were my bar I would expect my employees to give their seat up. He was also eating Doritos while the whole incident occurred. Then we complained to the bartender and he said "We have the best fucking bouncer in town, and if you don't fucking like him then go somewhere else". So we did, and while leaving the bar the doorman called me a cocksucker. If I was two years younger, not graduated, and not working full time; then I would have knocked his teeth out, and not for the comment but for disrespect he had towards a female. We then went to across the street to Jerry Allen's and we were told by the Bartenders that this is not uncommon and they are known to look for conflict.
