During their last visit, which took over a month to get between the time I called and the day they came, we told them we would be moving one of the indoor units about five feet from its current spot. I had an HVAC person lined-up to come do that, but the service tech, who is also one of the owners insisted that we call them to do this when we were ready. I trusted them since they installed the system and tended to know it. The time came that we needed the unit moved, and the contractors waiting to work on the part of the house where the unit was located at the time, were in a holding pattern until I could get it moved. - So we called True North Energy Services to have them come out. We called multiple times. Typically there is never a person answer their phones. The definitely adhere to that growing trend in Maine to ignore phone calls and force you to leave voice messages and be at the mercy of their call-back. But I obliged. Again, I still trusted them and was following the request and suggestion of the owner. So, I left multiple messages... Finally, a short, curt callback from one of the owners. "We don't have time to do it." That was it. She didn't want to hear that I'd waited to do the work based on what her husband had told me to do. She didn't care if we were in a delicate situation with timing. I would have worked around their timing regardless. But, it didn't appear to matter. She called back to say they didn't have time and quickly got off the phone. Their message to us was clear: it wasn't a big enough job, they're busy and it mattered not to them that we listened to their advice and called them back to remain loyal to their business. Apparently they have enough business already. There is also the irony that we need to expand the system/purchase a second one for the addition we're putting onto our house. This work and money would have gone to them, hands-down. They were informed of this when they came for the service visit. But the $10,000-plus in additional business just wasn't important enough to them. Like many other Maine service providers at the moment, they're busy, and likely over-booked. I understand that. But like many Maine service providers at the moment, they also dismiss customers because they're feeding at an overflowing trough of business and easy money. But when the economy cools, when all of those people go back to work and not as many folks are hiring small businesses like this. When the wealthy New Yorkers, Bostonians, New Jersians are done with their vacation homes or new condos and leave for the winter, or go bankrupt when the bubble bursts, perhaps True North Energy Services will rethink their bedside manner and their approach to customers. It will be too late for us and we'll never use them again, for sales, installation or service. But I wish them well, as long as they work on the poor attitude. I would not recommend this company and would suggest staying clear of it.

I purchased a ton and my son bought two tons for himself and together we loaded all three tons in my basement. Sounds like a lot, well in reality it isn't all that much, say 150 bags. Jim, the owner was extremely accommodating. He even stayed open 1/2 hour past closing time, so my son and I could pick up half the load on a Friday night. We picked up the rest of the order on Saturday morning. I would definitely recommend Southern Maine Renewable Fuels if you are interested in picking up your annual supply of wood pellets.
