Josh is a very good guy and super reliable. He was very prompt in answer questions via yelp messages and easy to talk to in person. He helped us out when we first moved in in 2016 so our home was ready for the winter. He was back again this year for our cleaning and did some more efficient and quick work. What I mean by that is, it took less time than he'd estimated; the work was done thoroughly and completely. I'm very glad this is the company we chose to work with for our heating systems. I have 2 young kids (I was pregnant last year), so having the best help to keep everyone warm and comfortably bathed is a big relief. Josh notices all the details and made sure our water temp was set to the child safe recommended range. (It had been set a few degrees hotter.) Had great experience with Josh and Maine Heating and Cooling. At estimate walkthrough he talked through aspects of the proposal and had some good ideas in line with our basement goals (more clear area, how to best integrate into current piping layout, plan for gas line hookup in future etc). Work included removal of failing 40+ yo furnace and interior oil tank and install of Bosch Greenstar Combi 151. Josh is great! I had to call him up last minute on a late Thursday afternoon because of a steam radiator that was leaking badly, and he was able to squeeze me in the first thing the following Friday morning to take care of it. I also had him convert my oil burner to gas, and he was fast and efficient (without sacrificing quality or thoroughness) about getting it done. He's a great communicator via phone and email and will explain everything that needs to get done in a way that you will clearly understand. His prices are also competitive with the prevailing rates in Portland. What gives Josh the edge in my opinion is that he provides great customer service - since Josh IS Maine Heating & Cooling you are always dealing with one person, and not multiple receptionists/service technicians within the same company. Josh you can twist my review anyway you like. If you don't think a furnace leaking all over the floor over and over and over again five times in 2 months is not an emergency then everybody ought to be checking these reviews very carefully before they hire you. As you stated you're a one-man show and if anybody's reading this you cannot get service all the time from a guy that's one man show and is always on vacation and you even knocked and put down Mike as you call him the guy that was filling in for you. Mike told me he did not have the parts to fix my problem so obviously Mike is useless the guy that you leave to fill in while you're on vacation. Anybody that calls you up and needs a service from you is going to be the making the biggest mistake of their life hiring you as their contractor you work 8:00 to 4:00 and at 4:00 you want to be off the clock my professional opinion you should not be working on furnaces and taking vacation during winter times when people need work done on their furnace because it's freezing outside. People will see I'm right if they hire you and it's a big mistake. read more
