Lovely. Best hotel in the East Bay. The staff is amazing. The location is perfect.

I booked with this Hotel last minute. During check-in, the lovely ladies working the front desk were absolute gems. Extremely friendly and gave some pointers to elevate my short stay. The Hotel grounds are sparkly clean and so was the room. The whole experience is truly breathtaking. The antique style is gorgeous and exactly what I enjoy. Some of the positives were: the room was already chilled when walking in after a hot summer day. The AC is perfectly quiet as to not disturb my sleep. The breakfast is to die for; the best Benedict I have had yet. Grounds are quiet.

Truly an amazing place! Kim Moraga helped make our wedding such a seamless and beautiful night. The food and drinks were delicious and all event staff were kind and friendly. The rooms have been renovated and everyone spoke of how clean and beautiful the courtyard and ballroom were. 10/10 amazing hotel they know how to orchestrate an amazing event!!!!

    Pretty courtyard

I was in the area for an overnight stay and I am so glad I was able to stay at this hotel. The ambiance in the common areas and the quaint courtyard was magnificent, and the room was very clean and nicely appointed in an upscale manner. The staff was friendly as well and the surrounding views were amazing. If I'm back in the area, I will definitely stay here!

Maybe original plumbing? Maybe Restoration Hardware? Definitely sprays water everywhere.

We've driven past this legendary Bay Area hotel for the past two decades and always tried to imagine the luxury within. We've been lucky enough to have stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa (a sister property) several times and always felt like it was the total splurge in elegant California hospitality. So finally we had a chance to spend one night, and it not exaggeration when I say praise jebus it's only one night. Let me put it this way, we haven't even gone to bed or checked out yet and we wish we could get a do-over on our decision to stay here. It would have been better to maintain the illusion in our minds of the hallowed "luxury." The general take away is how dated and in need of a facelift everything seemed. From the wood floors outside the elevators, to the old elevators, to the room carpeting, to grandmas stained and worn room furniture and furnishings, to the not really big enough for bathing in bathtub, to the not even cool enough to be retro sink fixtures. All of it is just kind of shabby and nowhere near the quality you would expect from the cost of a nights stay here. The bed was also disappointing. First glance it looked like your standard hotel bed with crisp sheets, duvet, and all hospital corners. But after 5 minutes reclining I found my body sinking unevenly in some places while feeling supported in other spots. My head felt lower than my torso, like I was lying head down on a slight incline. So much so that I had to stuff the ironing board under the mattress to try to even things out. The irregularities persisted the more we looked around. Or sniffed around. The first impression of the room was a general musty odor. Like the room needed an airing out or dehumidifier. Again, a grandmas house vibe. When we opened the windows for some fresh air, we also noticed there were no screens in the windows (we're from the East Bay and can speak with authority on our mosquitos and flys). And I'm not sure if there was supposed to be one, but our room had no directory book or room service menu. Also, was the toilet tissue holder with the opening facing the direction you pull so that the roll falls off every time you pull installed by a sadist? I'd like to note that the interaction with staff on checkin was professional and pleasant. So no complaints there. Likewise, we did not eat or have drinks at the hotel, so we can't comment in that regard. I'm not trying to beat up on the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa. We really wanted this stay to be great. We went into this short stay with every expectation that we would be striking gold. Unfortunately, we struck out instead.

The room was huge! It had a cute little kitchen setup with a dining table, a comfy corner couch in the living area, and two separate bedrooms, which made it feel more like an apartment than a hotel. One room had a queen bed, a good-sized closet with wired shelving, and a super spacious bathroom with the sink area outside the bathroom, always a win when you're trying to get ready without fighting over space. The second bedroom had a king bed, its own walk-in shower, and the same setup with the sink outside the bathroom and open to the room, which made it super easy to multitask (aka watch TV while doing my makeup). The space overall was clean, functional, and comfortable. But my biggest complaint? That awful showerhead. It was grimy, leaking, and had the weakest water pressure. Definitely a letdown in an otherwise great room.... especially when a good shower is one of my top hotel priorities. The bathroom had the potential to be a vibe, but the shower situation totally killed it.

We had an extended stay here for work. The big feature is that they allow pets -- both dogs and…read morecats to stay, which was a big plus for us! The staff were always very friendly and accommodating. There were a couple of times we had a lot of clarifying questions and they never made us feel like we were annoying them. Even when we checked out, I double checked the pet fee after having paid and left already. They had accidentally overcharged me, as I had stayed for less time than the price I had paid. I called them up to inquire about it, and they were able to resolve the issue and refunded me the difference. Overall, the hotel was pretty clean for accommodating pets. I think this hotel seems to have a lot of smells from food that people bring it or of cleaning products. Even in our room, it seemed the room held on to smells for a long time, and despite having the air circulating or the window open, it was hard to get rid of the scents. It also seems other reviewers have mentioned some bedbug or other creepy crawly concerns, but we did not see any for the whole month we were there. We had a studio sort of room, so it was a large space that included the bed, a small living room with the couch, dining table, and kitchenette. The kitchenette includes a microwave that also can be an oven, an electric stove, and a nice sized refrigerator. They include the basic utensils for eating and cooking, bowls, plates, cups, mugs, pans, pots, colander. There is a coffee maker, as well. They provide you with dishwashing soap but it is not of great quality as it doesn't bubble. There is no sponge they provide to wash your dishes. They do have some dishwasher detergent for the dishwasher they also have in the unit. It seems they do not do room service unless you specifically request/schedule for it. It's probably because they have pets and they need you to have your pet out of the room when they service it. Parking is free, and they provide you with a parking pass to leave on your dashboard. They have a 24/7 gym with a few key equipment, including 2 ellipticals, 1 stationary bike, 1 non-functioning Peloton bike, 3 treadmills, bench for weights, back extension. They have wipes to clean the equipment, a water jug, and towels for your convenience. There is complimentary breakfast. It starts at 6:30 am on the weekdays, 7 am on the weekends. They have someone making custom ready-to-order omelets. They have the standard coffee and tea (coffee runs out pretty quickly in the morning since this is a busy hotel for working guets), scrambled eggs (one plain, one with veggies), sausage or bacon, potatoes, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, breads. There is a bar with a happy hour as well, but they do not have a sit-down restaurant here. Fortunately, there are many restaurants close by in Downtown Pleasant Hill. Other amenities include meeting rooms, a pool, basketball court. Overall, it was a pretty solid experience at Hyatt House!

All of those things were a headache and during the first time I stayed for a week, I had to ask housekeeping for stuff back to be replaced and my card at checkout was sorted. I had hopes for this location that I decided to come back as the service at the hotel, they tried to make it right. However, my second stay for another week took a downturn for the worst. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is busy as I've seen on both my stays, several business companies had their events at this location. While that's a good thing, it certainly leaves room for error on other things. I came back and during my second stay, the front desk was terrible. This is not an exaggeration. Ever had someone look up and down at you with a side eye? The moment I walked up to the desk and said hi, I'm here to checkin, the only response I got in a tone you'd never expect was "identification card" and proceeded to look up and down at me again. For context, I was fully clothed. Poloshirt with jacket, non fitted full pants with shoes and 2 bags. The entire interaction was just horrible. If it wasn't for work, I would've just cancelled my reservation right there and then. The interaction was that bad. Housekeeping is daily unless you have your dnd sign. Microwave is at a common room for the entire floor. I had the same experience the second time around. I reuse my towels and except for the towel you use for the floor outside the shower, everything else is hanged. When I had housekeeping, my towels are taken away without replacement. It was the same for the face towels too. The safe in the room was not working. I voiced out my concern to another front desk agent regarding my checkin process and got connected with Lisa, whom she introduced herself as director of operations. When I told her about my checkin, she was apologetic in some sense and explained that it was not in their policy for someone to act that way and even told me I will be given pts as compensation. At checkout, I asked the front desk agent to check the card charge and at least they got that right. If after checking/asking about this 3 times during my stay and an error still occurred, then I have no words for it anymore. When I asked about the compensated points, he said since it was that much was going to be given it would take 5 business days after the my checkout date. I waited more than 2 weeks and the only pts in my account was just my regular hotel stay pts. I will not be coming back to a location that has a rude front desk agent and conversations that don't push through. Save your money and go somewhere else. I drove around the area and there are multiple options that one can go.

You fall in love with the beauty of the place & Lien seems nice, until the contract is signed, then all bets are off. We are a basic, calm, friendly & kind family; we had reasonable expectations, BUT, there were so many disappointments--hidden charges, spontaneous unreasonableness from Lien, lackadaisical kids who I guess are family members that work cheap for her without enthusiasm...ruined it for me. And what is her issue with vendors?? I guess she doesn't get a cut so she makes it extremely painful for you if you don't go with hers, very passive-aggressive behavior. I had two family members with professional skills who wanted to be our vendors for photography and DJ, and Lien said ok but she kept complaining to me that they hadn't properly completed her required forms--my family members told me they had completed the forms multiple times already, but Lien told me no. She called me up a week before the wedding to say if she didn't get the forms, we would have no vendors for these two important roles. My niece was almost in tears saying she would submit the forms again. We had to pay extra to have access to venue an hour early, we had to pay extra for anticipated bar because we paid extra for guests to stay longer and relax after the bridal party departed. However her staff/kids came out and started clearing off tables as soon as the bride-groom left, even though we still had at least an hour, maybe an hour & a half paid for, so guests started leaving since they thought it was time. Also, it was 100 degrees that day and Lien said she did not have any space in her refrigerator to keep our small 20 inch 2 layer cake, the one for the bride & groom. How can that be? Honestly, I wish we would have chosen somewhere else, it was so stressful to deal with the owners. You want it to be such a special day, and you hope to see that reflected by the owners/staff but then you are treated like just another set of fools to be milked for money like a cash cow. Her staff seemed bored and disinterested, they clearly could not wait to be done. My daughter & her groom were shielded from a lot of the unpleasantness I and other family members had to navigate as mom/family of the bride. I would never recommend this place unless it gets new owners. I can't believe the good reviews, my experience was just so bad. We paid a lot and didn't even try to adjust the costs after they shut us down early for no reason, it wasn't worth dealing with them. It is a shame, the place is really lovely.

I checked reviews and rates and this location came up as an option. Price, location to the theatre venue, Yelp Ratings, Yelp Reviews, and the pool is what helped me decide on this place. We called ahead as we were arriving later than planned 12a, because of travel challenges. The person on the phone was assured us that someone would be there. They gave us instructions for very late check in. We arrived and the person at the front desk granted us access inside. He was able to assign us a room and offer additional bedding if the room did not have it for the sofa sleeper. We did end up needing the additional bedding, so we made yet another trip downstairs to get it. We had problems. It was 12:30a and the room keys did not work. We went down to the front desk 3-4 times to try to get it mitigated. The front desk person was only able to get one of the room keys to work so we had to use that one key to get our luggage up, park the car, and navigate at 1:30a to get situated in the room. The next day the hotel staff was able to get us 2 of 3 room keys working, very inconvenient. The room was OK. It was setup ok, but the carpet, TVs, and appliances are dated. The sofa sectional is modern but cheap. The TV remotes never properly worked fully. There is a king bedroom, with french doors to separate the living room sectional seating area; which also includes the kitchenette. Overall, the carpet was aesthetically disappointing. The TVs are also dated. The bathroom is a standup shower no tub, and a toilet, with the vanity as a walkthrough next to the king bed. The bathroom vanity is very dated but clean. There are not enough towel racks or hooks for 3 people to stay here. We were doomed next to the stairwell of the hotel. All hours of the night loud banging noises of people and children walking and screaming and jumping up and down the staircase behind our King bedroom. Pros: Pool is very nice, In and Out across the street, free breakfast daily 6a-9a, kitchenette is decent, lighting is decent in rooms Cons: Dated, needs refresh, hallway carpets are bland and unappealing, breakfast is cheap and not tasty, lots of spider webs in the window corners in room, room key system doesn't work well. Parking is packed.
