Unfortunately, the hotel was affected as well. We waited for a couple of hours hoping the power would come back on, but eventually decided to check out. The outage itself wasn't anyone's fault, and that's not why I'm writing this review. What stood out to me was how the hotel staff handled an unexpected situation that was completely beyond their control. A special thank you to Maddie (or Madelyn) at the front desk. She was juggling what I'm sure was a very stressful evening, yet she remained patient, professional, and genuinely kind to everyone she helped. It's easy to provide good service when everything is going smoothly--it's much harder when things go wrong. She handled it with grace, and it did not go unnoticed. The problems started before I even got inside. There are only four short-term loading spaces directly in front of the hotel, all marked as 10-minute tow-away spaces. All four were occupied when I arrived. I waited more than 20 minutes, and not one vehicle moved. Several hours later, three of the same vehicles were still parked there. The regular gated parking is much farther from the entrance. I was arriving alone with luggage while my husband was already inside at his conference, so I called the hotel to ask whether anyone could assist me with a luggage cart. I was on hold for nearly 10 minutes before reaching the front desk. I was told that luggage assistance was not available. Even more concerning, the front desk employee told me I could park in the clearly posted red-zone fire lane. I was not comfortable doing that. I ultimately had to interrupt my husband's conference so he could come outside and help me. The next morning, I again saw multiple vehicles parked in the fire lane. Because this appeared to be an ongoing issue, I later reported it to the local fire inspector. The room itself had reasonably updated finishes, so I would not call the entire room dated. But the HVAC unit was ancient. My husband entered the room around 1 PM and said it was approximately 80 degrees inside with the AC off. He immediately turned it on and closed the blinds. After running for most of the day, the room was still around 71 degrees late that evening even though it was only in the low 60s outside. It eventually reached 70. I documented the thermostat showing 70 degrees with the system on COOL and the fan on HIGH. The bathroom was also extremely cramped, especially the shower. I was surprised to learn from the front desk that the Executive Lounge has apparently been closed since before COVID. The printed information provided at check-in also stated that housekeeping is only provided every fourth day, and that same-day service must be requested by 1 PM and is "refresh only." That did not affect our one-night stay, but it certainly would have mattered on a longer stay. The overall atmosphere felt badly understaffed and stripped-down for a full Hilton-branded property. The amenities felt limited, and even at the rate we paid, I did not feel the stay represented good value. I raised the issues with Hilton Guest Assistance afterward. Hilton ultimately provided service recovery, which I appreciated, but getting there required repeated follow-up. I never received direct contact from hotel management, and the hotel's initial response contained factual discrepancies that I had to correct through Hilton. I want to be fair that the employee I dealt with was not personally unpleasant, and the room finishes themselves were generally updated. My complaint is with the overall operation, staffing, maintenance, amenities, and management response. Based on this experience, I would not stay here again.

When I first walked in the room, I could immediately smell that it had been cleaned yet it did not give off any chemical smell - I am very sensitive to chemical odors and can get headaches from them. The only minus, which is why I took away a star, was some of the utensils in my kitchen area had very visible food remnants on them and one of the knives had a large thumbprint, so I made sure to take utensils from the breakfast area instead and did not feel comfortable using any of the dish-ware or drink-ware either, given the state of the utensils. This was very gross but overall I was impressed with the overall cleanliness. The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and made check in a breeze. The spaciousness of the room itself was wonderful and I found everything to be very comfortable. I had been able to pick out my room in advance on the app and chose a corner room on the top floor - it was very quiet despite it's proximity to the freeway. The room was dark overall but the only issue was the outlet in the bathroom had a nightlight built in which could not be turned off! I had to stack a couple things in front of it to block out the light that was very close to the bed. I stayed at 3 hotels on my fall break trip and this one had by far the best quality and best variety of free breakfast options. I really appreciate having this. As a young single woman, I felt very safe in the neighborhood when walking into the hotel late at night. I hadn't realized when booking the hotel that it was actually across the street from the apartments my brother and his family used to live in - so I knew upon arrival it was a very safe area. I would absolutely stay here again and felt the value was there for the price I paid.

The outside wasn't too bad, but they had boards hanging with wire from the balcony, very tacky! The walls must be very thin because we got a call from the office that our TV was too loud, and we could barely hear it. Strange! The free breakfast was simple, but good. It had eggs, sausage, toast, waffles, cereal, and danishes. Just not an extremely well kept property. With a few fixes I would have given it a 4.

One room had a queen bed, a good-sized closet with wired shelving, and a super spacious bathroom with the sink area outside the bathroom, always a win when you're trying to get ready without fighting over space. The second bedroom had a king bed, its own walk-in shower, and the same setup with the sink outside the bathroom and open to the room, which made it super easy to multitask (aka watch TV while doing my makeup). The space overall was clean, functional, and comfortable. But my biggest complaint? That awful showerhead. It was grimy, leaking, and had the weakest water pressure. Definitely a letdown in an otherwise great room.... especially when a good shower is one of my top hotel priorities. I called them up to inquire about it, and they were able to resolve the issue and refunded me the difference. Overall, the hotel was pretty clean for accommodating pets. I think this hotel seems to have a lot of smells from food that people bring it or of cleaning products. Even in our room, it seemed the room held on to smells for a long time, and despite having the air circulating or the window open, it was hard to get rid of the scents. It also seems other reviewers have mentioned some bedbug or other creepy crawly concerns, but we did not see any for the whole month we were there. We had a studio sort of room, so it was a large space that included the bed, a small living room with the couch, dining table, and kitchenette. The kitchenette includes a microwave that also can be an oven, an electric stove, and a nice sized refrigerator. They include the basic utensils for eating and cooking, bowls, plates, cups, mugs, pans, pots, colander. There is a coffee maker, as well. They provide you with dishwashing soap but it is not of great quality as it doesn't bubble. There is no sponge they provide to wash your dishes. They do have some dishwasher detergent for the dishwasher they also have in the unit. It seems they do not do room service unless you specifically request/schedule for it. It's probably because they have pets and they need you to have your pet out of the room when they service it. Parking is free, and they provide you with a parking pass to leave on your dashboard. They have a 24/7 gym with a few key equipment, including 2 ellipticals, 1 stationary bike, 1 non-functioning Peloton bike, 3 treadmills, bench for weights, back extension. They have wipes to clean the equipment, a water jug, and towels for your convenience. There is complimentary breakfast. It starts at 6:30 am on the weekdays, 7 am on the weekends. They have someone making custom ready-to-order omelets. They have the standard coffee and tea (coffee runs out pretty quickly in the morning since this is a busy hotel for working guets), scrambled eggs (one plain, one with veggies), sausage or bacon, potatoes, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, breads. There is a bar with a happy hour as well, but they do not have a sit-down restaurant here. Fortunately, there are many restaurants close by in Downtown Pleasant Hill. Other amenities include meeting rooms, a pool, basketball court. Overall, it was a pretty solid experience at Hyatt House!

Had to go to the front-desk twice to get access. The staff at the front were able to fix it.

Our room was on the top floor and looked out over the Carquinez Strait. During our stay we loved watching the trains on the opposite shore, the changing tides, Egrets, Bay fog and the distant Carquinez Bridge. It was wonderful enjoying waterfront views without having to drive to the coast. The room featured three armchairs, table and chairs, nightstands with lamps, TV and mini fridge. Three complimentary water bottles were provided. Lovely art prints adorned the walls. The rooms have no air conditioning but they have portable units they can bring in on request. There was a good wind (as is often the case in Benicia) and that was sufficient on this day. The breakfast was amazing: hard boiled eggs (and an offer to make scrambled if we wanted), muffins, Bacon, cereal, rolls/pastries, bagels, cheeses, ham, milk, OJ and mango juice as options. Benicia is a quaint explore, lots of artisan shops. Look in on the One House Bakery for some delish sweets! Just a great stay, wish we could have extended. Look forward to a return visit!

Other pluses were front desk staff who were friendly and helpful, and the fact that there were lots of restaurant choices (then take-out only) just across the street (or in the case of Boston Market across the parking lot). Using my Marriott Bonvoy Visa, I did picked up some travel points on the spend as well as the stay. I really look forward to using them someday soon.

Free parking is a huge plus, as is being located within walking distance of a drugstore, grocery store, and Bank of America banking center. Every employee with whom we interacted was pleasant and professional, from Darius who checked us in to the folks that we passed in the hallways. We don't have cable or a TV in our bedroom at home, so let me tell you, it was a treat to chillax and watch a movie from our hotel bed. $209, tax and fees included, for one night, was a STEAL for the quality we enjoyed.
