Lady Kave is such a fun and cool place! I planned a bachelorette weekend and knew this had to be one of our stops! Once you're inside you see a number of poles coming down from the ceiling and you really feel like you're in a cave because of the stone walls on either end. Another wall is full of mirrors and the opposite wall has Lady Kave's logo which is perfect for a group photo. Our instructor was so sweet and talented. She went over safety and had us stretch. She showed us the dance we would be doing and we all began to be internally worried we wouldn't be able to do it but she was such a wonderful teacher and broke it down step by step. We all were able to learn it! We giggled and twirled and tried to be sexy but couldn't match the instructors grace. I had always wanted to pole dance because it is such an amazing workout and so graceful. Our hour long party did not let us down from beginning to end. Omg our arms were sore the next day! I didn't expect the next part and loved that Lady Kave doesn't take pole dancing too seriously. We divided into two groups and had a dance off where the others put fake ones into our clothing (wear socks, leggings or shorts, and a comfy top). The winners then dueled it out! It was hilarious, fun and tasteful. Our instructor helped take pictures and video. We also got to try the rotating pole, in the corner, at the end and take pictures with boas. Modern Day Fitness is exactly what it sounds like -classes that provide new age workouts. They primarily specialize in pole fitness classes, which are a blast. You can either sign up for a single class for $20, or host a group lesson. Mindy, the instructor, is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is very experienced and is a wonderful teacher. It may all be for fun but honey, you're gonna feel the burn tomorrow. I highly recommend starting out with an intro class and staying in the beginners for a while, because anything above that is intense. I went to my first ever pole class tonight. I was sooo nervous going in, feeling pretty low about my body overall, etc. But the environment was SO welcoming. I took the pole virgin class with Mandy. She was so kind, enthusiastic, and helpful. Everything was step-by-step and I left feeling energized and happy for the first time in a long time. There was lots of smiling and giggling. I'm not so graceful just yet but the environment makes you feel like to can really keep going at your own natural pace. I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to reconnect with their own bodies in a fun way. I did this with a friend for the heck of it and am now several months into taking classes at LK. I'm no where near a sexy dancer and thought these classes would be funny but a one time thing with a friend but that was not the case. It is fun! But I found that for me, pole is more of an acrobatic thing so I'm more learning cute tricks and stuff. Whereas others really enjoy the dancing aspects. There's something for everyone I think! Lady Kave is one the few places in Louisville for pole fitness. I have been going to Lady Kave, formerly Modern Day Fitness, since they opened (took a break for a little tho ;). All the instructors are great and really experienced. Classes are small which allows for individual attention. The instructors really care about making everyone's experience a fun one and tailoring to individual needs. The classes are challenging for a good workout but also easy to pick up. Lady Kave (formerly Modern Day Fitness) is a safe and fun place to learn pole dancing.I have taken pole classes else where, but MDF/Lady Kave is my favorite. The classes are $20 unless you sign up for a group party. Ashuanna and Mandy are fantastic instructors. They make it such a fun and positive atmosphere. You might walk in feeling down or feel defeated because you can't seem to nail a move, but they will quickly lift your spirits! They are happy to come give you one on one attention to help better understand how to do a move and to spot you when doing higher level moves such as inverting. The eight poles are static (don't spin), which are great for beginners to learn with. Lady Kave welcomes women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds! Never danced a day in your life? That's okay, come and try it out! The atmosphere is great and one of a kind. They have their own parking lot, so you don't have to walk far to get to the studio which is always a huge plus! When class is in session, no one else can enter, and you don't have to worry about anyone peeking through any windows to watch you get your sexy on. This is a safe place to learn pole dancing and to express yourself. Pole dancing fitness is one of the best workouts I have ever done. It has strength training (supporting yourself on the pole), cardio (dancing it out), and a social atmosphere. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend giving it a try.
