Even though the instructor goes through a step by step process, you're implored to do WHATEVER YOU WANT ! For example, some in my session painted their own creation entirely, while I kept the portrait the same, and just changed the colors to a neon color palette. My espresso martini was so yummy. The drinks are not included in the $30-39 booking price. I've had more expensive painting experiences that included a drink, so I figured this evened out as far as competitor pricing goes. I will say though, my group of 6 almost all ordered different drinks and everyone loved theirs and grabbed a second. Considering everything , I felt the price point was adequate for all that is offered and the long time slot provided. I will for sure be back for date night!

We paid for a full, open bar with quality spirits and wine. A bartender stood out to our guests for being rude. After the wedding, we had several guests share with us about the bartender and her inhospitable attitude (which is very aggravating considering we paid thousands of dollars for our guests to happily enjoy the bar). In addition, there was an issue during the closing of the wedding that rubbed us the wrong way. A security guard made a guest very uncomfortable as she was scrambling trying to find a lost shoe on her way out. He made a comment implying that he would put her in cop car if she didn't leave right away. As well, another issue with the bar, the bar manager accused a guest of stealing after a bartender (appearing to be her own daughter) accepted cash for him for a drink which she seemingly pocketed. The poor customer service definitely left us questioning the integrity of the event, if a bartender would easily pocket cash what else could have been pocketed? We paid at least $50,000 for our event. For this price tag, one would expect impeccable service toward from beginning to end. If we could have copied and pasted the kindness and professionalism of the coordinators to the rest of staff, the night would have been perfect. However, the rude bartender, security, and even seemingly bar manager was the overall issue we had with our wedding reception.

First, I didn't go in with the expectation of producing quality art to hang on my wall. I'm an…read moreartist, but painting isn't my first medium. I believe these type of events are more about the experience. They can be fun for a group event with family, friends or co-workers. CONS: It is in the basement, so there are no windows (if that is something that bothers you). The instructor talked too much (personal, not conversational), and would disappear unexpectedly at different times. She only came around a couple of times to offer tips and assistance, and seemed a bit impatient. The setup was a bit awkward from some viewpoints, as there are pillars in the middle of the room. They have monitors to assist, but it can still be hard to see what they're doing, and the "color chart" was impossible to see for most of us. It felt like we spent a lot of time mixing colors, and then quickly dabbing the paint on canvas to catch up with the instructor. We felt rushed. I believe the sessions are supposed to be 2.5 to 3 hours, but we were there about 2 hours at most. PROS: It's in the heart of downtown Jeff, near great restaurants and the Big 4 walking bridge, all in walking distance. There is a lot of free parking nearby as well. There were bright paintings all down the hallways, and in the large basement studio, which cheered up the space. It was neat and clean, and everything was easily accessible. The instructor was friendly and joked around with us some. She put on a playlist of music, which was her own choice of hits but she offered to put on something we would like if we wanted. We had a good time joking off and on while we tried to follow along. We all ended up with different results, and had fun being together and laughing at our mistakes. Overall, we had fun, but because that is what we brought into it. A big part of these experiences does lie with the instructor (or host you could say) and their skill at hospitality as well as art. I admit I wouldn't return if I knew the same instructor or someone similar was leading it. (She mentioned several times that she was the owner's daughter.) Opinions and experiences are subjective, so you should check it out for yourself.

This is my first time doing a "sip and paint" and I really enjoyed it and would repeat in the future. They have discounted session prices on Tuesdays. The new location has only been open for a week and would be a great idea for the holidays as a place to gather for a fun time or also as a gift idea for even the non-artist in your life. Plenty of free public parking located across the street as well as behind the building. Enter through the glass doors and travel down the stairs to a welcoming art space in the basement. The instructor greeted us and directed us to pick out our paints, protective aprons, and brushes and we chose our easel stations. They also sell wine and beer and snacks and frequent take breaks as needed during the evening to accommodate refreshment and stretching your legs after sitting for an hour. I chose a $6 glass of Cabernet and the entire paint session is typically 2-1/2 to 3 hours long. I also purchased a really cute t-shirt for $15, which supposedly can be custom ordered in various colors, sizes, and multiple designs. An inspiration picture is displayed at the front of the classroom and the instructor provides step-by-step instructions to replicate the image. Our instructor was Moira for this particular project, and she was very helpful in providing individual assistance as needed or requested. Her expertise was very helpful! As you can see from my impressionistic version of the original piece, art is in the eye of the beholder! I had fun, which was my main objective here.

Becoming an executive bourbon steward has been on my bucket list for a bit. So happy that I was…read morefinally able to do this! I attended the executive bourbon steward class at Moonshine University on Friday. It was a day filled with bourbon, bourbon science, bourbon tasting, bourbong smelling, bourbon history and more. While I know I have much more still to learn, this class left me feeling like I can make my way through a bourbon tasting -- even creating a tasting flight of my own! -- and talk about bourbon like I know something about it. And more than anything, it left me with even more appreciation for Kentucky's native spirit. The day started with a tasting and that set the tone for the rest of the day, which included classroom time and time in the miniature distillery that's connected to the classroom. Each student also took home a sensory kit with 30+ smells to learn so that we can better pick them out during a tasting. This was my favorite part of the whole experience. It's much harder to pick out something like banana (even though we've smelled and tasted them hundreds of time) than you think, much less more complex smells like leather. I liked how our instructor talked about assigning a sensory memory to each so that we can remember them more easily. Maybe it was the bourbon we had enjoyed that day so far, but I feel like about halfway through the sensory section I could start to better pick out these scents and flavors. And our instructor, Colin, kept everything informative and entertaining. You can tell how much passion he has for bourbon and was engaging throughout the day. The facility is great in that it has the classroom and distillery right next to each other. The executive bourbon steward program has a hefty pricetag, but if you have the means and passion I would definitely encourage it. I'm honored to now be a member of the Stave & Thief Society.

But these guys have professionally put together a wonderful curriculum that would teach a monkey how to make booze. And it's much more than that. This place really has an all star cast of teachers and speakers, all very willing to help any one out. All the speakers had decades of experience in the industry. Most of which Wer enjoyable to listen to. But I can't stress enough that if your thinking about going into the spirits industry, educate yourself. If your wondering where to go, look no further. Moonshine U lays it on thick in all the right places. Branding, business, finance, blending and mixing, and much much more. And the best part is they really know what theyr talking about. The speakers talk from honest trials and tribulations through their own experiences. I cant say enough how wonderful these people are. Truly delightful people here. I made some wonderful contacts and learned so much, I definitely got my money's worth. Not to mention all of the food was delicious. They were not skimpy in any way what so ever. Seriously folks, this place changed my life. In business and personally. I thank you all at Moonshine University for giving me the opportunity at a better chance in the spirit industry. Our event was indoors and offered a few table games as well (jenga, pool, connect 4). They had plenty of space for small groups to catch up, from open floor to seating areas. The only con during my visit was the strong smell associated with being at a lawn care/landscaping business. Private parking lot with plenty of spaces. The Greenhouse is located in an industrial setting, with a concrete business across the street.

We looked at a lot of nice places but we wanted to use Shack-in-the-Back for the food (another great place). I happened to come across the Greenhouse by accident on a Google search for venues. What a find. We met Marti to look at the space - downstairs is a fairly large, relaxed m, open-air space replete with lots of picnic tables, fire pits and games (putt-putt, large Jenna, Connect 4, etc). There was a covered area that sports a bar set-up and plenty of space for the catering. Two bathrooms and a space for prep work. A sound system you can Blue-tooth into and tv's to show videos. There is an upstairs area, very similar but inside. The two spaces are separate but, for a small fee, the Greenhouse will hold the upstairs in case of inclement weather - we did this. Marti was great. She help us thru the entire process, kept us informed and worked with us on getting everything ready for the party. We had a great time. Everything came together and everyone had great time. We received many compliments on the venue. And, another great thing, it's in the East End but only 20-25 minutes from anywhere. I highly recommend The Greenhouse at Zeppa for your next outing. Perfect for Birthdays, Family get together, Graduation and the like.

I Attended Loopy Dough Studio's open house on 1/17/26. I had already followed the studio's…read moreInstagram page but when I saw they were having an open house with free pottery painting, giveaways and food, I knew I had to go! We were warmly welcomed at the door and given instruction on everything happening in the little studio space. The first thing I noticed was the plethora of glaze colors. I painted a small vase in one of the speckled colors. We entered the giveaways, snacked on an impressive charcuterie board and sipped a tasty margarita. The owner checked us out after painting, she was friendly and so grateful we stopped in. We chose a mystery pottery item for $10 before leaving, it was a small colorful vase. If you've been thinking about taking a pottery class, I suggest checking this place out! (They also have take home pottery kits).

The tour of Hermitage Farm, an operational thoroughbred nursery, included a ride through the beautiful grounds, a visit to the barn (where we saw eight horses and a baby), lunch made of ingredients grown on the farm, and a bourbon tasting (Old Forester, Maker's Mark, Russell's Reserve). Visited here for a spectacular tour prior to a dinner reservation at the nearby Barn8 restaurant in…read morelate spring 2024 a few weeks prior to Derby 150. Timing was excellent leading up to the race. We arrived for the last tour of the day at 3 PM on a Sunday and were directed to a covered wagon being pulled by a tractor. We used a small set of steps to access the wagon and then took our spot on one of the long bench seats on either side. Bales of hay lined the center of the wagon and were covered with soft horse blankets. Our tour guide was fantastic and entertaining with his presentation. He welcomed our questions and was very approachable during the entire tour, which was approximately an hour, and we did not feel rushed. We toured one of the horse barns where we were able to meet and greet at least 4 horses, including thoroughbred and Lippizaner breeds. We also were able to view a video presentation, trophy room, and memorabilia, which were all very informative and interesting. We resumed the wagon tour and accessed various fields along the route out and back, which contained foals, colts, and adult horses. Gorgeous picturesque property with rolling green fields surrounded by neat black board fences and very well maintained. This was an amazing experience for me even though I have lived in this area for many decades and I learned quite a bit of history while on the tour. I look forward to returning to share the experience with family and friends and knowing the tour will continue to evolve as the seasons change and the life cycle of the horses continues. I would also rate this as one of the top 5 things someone should see if they are visiting the area for the first time and want to better understand the importance of the horse in this region.
