I've been trying to teach myself how to crochet by watching YouTube videos. I've got the chain…read morestitch down, but couldn't figure out where I was going wrong with the actual crocheting. So I searched online for nearby classes because I need someone to watch where I'm going wrong. Ms. Audrey's offered a beginner class at a time that worked for me and a price that was very affordable. The class had 4 other students and was held in her store. She is a patient instructor and made sure everyone was on the same step as we went along. She explained things in a way that just clicked. I will definitely return for a level 2 class.

You can tell by the way that…read morethey think through the fine details of their work and the care they take with offering it to others. They bring a passion with them to the expertise they offer you. That's what it's like to step into Ms Audrey's Emporium. The entrance is filled with art projects that invite you to explore within yourself- What do you wish to create? What crafting skill have you been meaning to pick up or grow? What part of you haven't you had a chance to express yet? And then Ms Audrey will ask you what you're interested in making, so she can help you bring it from idea to life! My artistic, seven-year-old daughter and I came to Louisville for spring break and enjoyed spending more than two days with Ms Audrey. We had stopped at the Speed Art Museum on our way into the city. Pro tip: The speed is free on Sundays. My daughter was inspired by some community artwork with mixed media on canvas. We showed a picture of the inspiration to Ms Audrey. She had the perfect materials and know-how to help us create our own masterpiece, inspired by the art we saw at the museum. My daughter did not want to do anything else in the city besides make art with Ms Audrey- we even skipped the children's museum. We learned different techniques for using the materials and I'll definitely be incorporating them as we continue to create at home. Ms Audrey helps you not only bring beauty into the world, but she makes learning a new craft accessible step by step. Her process helps you create while expanding your crafting skills along the way. She offers such a unique experience. As someone who continually strives to bring analog experiences to the younger generations, I fully approve and value the service she brings to the community. Her prices are absolutely affordable for the value and materials she has to offer. If you're considering starting a crafting hobby or working on a specific craft project, go see Ms Audrey.

Gaining new skills in a fun environment? That's a big "hell yes!" in my book…read more I attended one of Level Up Louisville's first classes a year or two ago -- a mixology class where I actually got to make cocktails in Copper & Kings rooftop bar space. And finally my husband and I got to take in new class last week -- "Monetizing Your Home with AirBnB." We had been thinking about maybe one day renting out one of the units in our duplex through AirBnB. This seemed like a great opportunity to dip our toes in a bit. That's really one thing I very much appreciate about Level Up Louisville -- the range of class topics. So for $35 each, we got spots in the class, which met in the home of a local AirBnB superhost. The dozen or so of us started with a glass of wine and chatting in our host's gorgeous Old Louisville kitchen. And then we went up to her AirBnB unit, which was an expertly decorated top-floor studio. Up there, we talked about a range of topics, such as selecting guests, fixing up your unit, deciding what aspects of a unit to invest in, what to do about problem guests, what permits you need, etc. By the time we left, my husband had an entire page of notes, and we had so much more to think about than we had originally expected. When we left, my husband even remarked how impressed he was and how the class was worth every penny of the $70 we spent. It's safe to say that this class won't be my last. One other quick thing to note: If you take a class, don't be "that guy," who comes in as a student but ends up taking over the class, mansplaining all over the teacher. We get it -- you know things. But if you're over-talking the host, speaking up more to try and answer other students' questions rather than ask your own, you are not helping. We didn't pay to hear you speak; we paid to hear her.

I made some concrete coasters from scratch while I sipped an espresso martini. The service is prompt, and the specialists are also really kind and knowledgeable. The crafts range from simple to complex, and every craft is very independent! Avoid if you're not into loud noises as the work space is a little small and others and their crafts will be making lots of noise! (Especially the hammer for the leather works!) I've never had a drink here I didn't love, but the espresso martini especially is one of my favorites in the city. Really mellow flavor and very foamy. The Craftery is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and date nights. Next time skip the fancy dinner and make some concrete coasters instead! Then grab some takeout and enjoy your craft!

My husband and I visited last night for a special event that we pre-booked online. I follow them on instagram and find it the easiest way to see what they have going on. The space is wide open with plenty of seating options... bar, high top and low top tables. There are two bathrooms that were well stocked and very clean. We booked a sugar cookie decorating class with Louisville Cookie Company. I liked that the teacher demonstrated overhead with TV & wore a microphone for all to hear. My husband and I really enjoyed this new experience for a midweek date night. During the class staff rounded tables for drink orders and delivered while we worked. They offered classic & seasonal cocktails for purchase. The cocktails we had were delicious and fairly priced. The Craftery does not serve food but you are able to bring your own in. The Craftery is a great addition to the Nulu area. We are looking forward to coming back for a DIY project.

I've been to other painting classes and Board & Brush is the Cream of the Crop hands down. The process is super easy. Go online and choose your project, you can even customize what you want it to say. Once you arrive and check in they already have your seating set up, (TIP: if you are going with a friend make sure you put that friend's name down...they have a place for that when you're booking.). This place is staffed appropriately and they are like a well oiled machine. We got to our table they had the boards there and the stencils and confirm that it's to your liking. I didn't realize that we actually put the boards together, stain them along with the painting; but, don't freak out, they have everything you need and it's super fun to do that part. My friend chose a beautiful cardinal scene to put outside her front door for Christmas and I chose the gingerbread man. I did change what they had written on the website to be "Home Sweet Home". Y'all it is so fun and fulfilling to complete a project start to finish. I'm gushing so I'm gonna finish with this...don't put this off, just go. It's so much fun to do by yourself or with friends. While walking around a worker From maker 13 stopped us and asked us if we wanted to come in and take a tour on This surprisingly chilly late April evening. The kids and parents all obliged and we really enjoyed the tour. The kids were very attentive and asked a lot of good questions about the program and got to witness some local artist perform their work and craft. The studio is basically a rent an office place for artists ranging from designers, computer techs, wood workers and other skills im not familiar with.
