We looked at a lot of nice places but we wanted to use Shack-in-the-Back for the food (another great place). I happened to come across the Greenhouse by accident on a Google search for venues. What a find. We met Marti to look at the space - downstairs is a fairly large, relaxed m, open-air space replete with lots of picnic tables, fire pits and games (putt-putt, large Jenna, Connect 4, etc). There was a covered area that sports a bar set-up and plenty of space for the catering. Two bathrooms and a space for prep work. A sound system you can Blue-tooth into and tv's to show videos. There is an upstairs area, very similar but inside. The two spaces are separate but, for a small fee, the Greenhouse will hold the upstairs in case of inclement weather - we did this. Marti was great. She help us thru the entire process, kept us informed and worked with us on getting everything ready for the party. We had a great time. Everything came together and everyone had great time. We received many compliments on the venue. And, another great thing, it's in the East End but only 20-25 minutes from anywhere. I highly recommend The Greenhouse at Zeppa for your next outing. Perfect for Birthdays, Family get together, Graduation and the like.

For the third year in a row, we attended the Easter egg hunt yesterday. Eggs are strewn all over the large lawn, and this event is large enough to feel like a community event while not being too big. It's still intimate and special. Important to know: This Easter egg hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m. If you arrive at 10:03 you'll miss out on eggs. We've also attended the Halloween event, complete with a small Halloween parade for kids in costumes along the driveway, and the Christmas open house with Santa. The PD House is large and stately but very welcoming. I love that it has become a symbol and gathering point for the neighborhood. It can also be rented out for events. I've passed by some beautiful weddings being held there. We are so lucky to have this landmark so close!

It is also the annual site for the Crescent Hill 4th of July Celebration. They allow visitors to come inside to view the second floor and view raffle/silent auction items. The bathrooms have been updated and provide a mix of old and new. One room is a perfect bridal suite area with a 3-way mirror. Rentals of Peterson Dumesnil also include beautiful outdoor spaces, whether for intimate vow exchanges or to increase seating space with tables and bartenders on the front lawn. Parking is available nearby the space, primarily as street parking. Kudos to those on the Foundation for taking great care of this space and making it available for the public. The parking lot is easy to access right off of Taylorsville road and there is plenty of parking in two large, separate parking areas. The voting is very streamlined and easy to do. You walk in, present your ID, they give you a ballot, fill it out, drop it off, get a sticker (or wrist band) and you're on your way. It's never taken me longer than 20 minute to vote in any election. My recommendation would be to vote early (if you can), and if you're voting on Election day, go as early in the day as you can. It can get very busy the later in the day. High Marks for voting at The Jeffersonian!

The music and lights work together to tell a fun story and delight the viewer. And it's pretty inclusive of all beliefs and religions. The dome is insulated so you won't feel like you're outside in the cold. They have a concession stand selling warm drinks. And a friendly staff. The show is relatively short - maybe 15 minutes or so. But it's such a fun presentation you'll feel like it's over way too soon. Highly recommend checking this out this holiday season!
