A perfect meal, in a very rustic atmosphere. It was a work conference dinner in one of the barns. Each dish, and beverage were just perfect. highly recommend !!!

CORNBREAD CASUALITY Sorry to report to Steve and Laura Lee, but the three of us had a pretty bad experience tonight at the Hermitage Farm, I believe was the waitpersons fault. Here is our story. We had reservations and were seated at 8:30. The table next to us were seated just after us. We placed our full dinner order at 8:50 which included cornbread as an appetizer. We enjoyed the arty decor and settling. A half an hour later the waitress informed us that they ran out of cornbread, though the table that was seated next to us had gotten and were eating their order of the cornbread. She offered Sourdough Baguettes instead, which we ordered. Forty-five minutes after we were seated I waved down the waitress and nicely asked about the bread, and she said "I thought you wanted that with your meal." We nicely said we would prefer it now, and laughed off the mistake. Like ... isn't bread normally served first thing? A full hour from being seated we had no food on the table, and still no bread. Meanwhile the table next to us about finished their meal, all other table had food and were still being served cornbread. I was really looking forward to that cornmeal : ( We tried to laugh it off but it was getting annoying, we were hungry and the situation sadly embarrassing my friend who invited us. 1 1/2 hours later we got our food, somewhat tasty but served cold. Not sure if this is growing pains, or the wedding upstairs, or because we were three men sitting together with no women in our group, or if it was the weekend crush, or the fact that they want to make more money someone (greedily) overbooked without having enough food or trained waitpersons. This is for Hermitage to figure out. Sadly I will not be coming back.

Absolutely spectacular venue! I was a guest of monogram appliances and we had dinner at this location! If I had to book a hotel for a group of people I'd come here instead and stay! A lot of thought went into the tasteful decor and the contemporary art collection adds a nice Edge Loved it!

I am reviewing the Hermitage Farm and not the event venue. I attended the Hermitage Classic this past weekend. It is an interesting equine combined driving event. The 3 day event showcases dressage, marathon and cones. It was completely enthralling even though it was hot, hot, hot! Friday was driven dressage which I missed due to not a lot of promotion or at least I did not know it was a 3 day competition until arriving. I would have loved to have seen the driven dressage competition. The event listing on FB stated it was a Saturday event BUT after attending Saturday I returned for the cones competition on Sunday. The farm is beautiful and well maintained. The courses which were set up for the competitions were elaborate and interesting. The horses came from all over the world to compete. The neat thing about this competition was the beautiful array of vehicles pulled by magnificent ponies and horses. It is a formal event with every hair in place so to speak. The horses are meticulously groomed. The harnesses are polished to near-mirror brilliance. The drivers wear the most interesting clothing which is ironed to crisp perfection. Each driving vehicle - and I am not sure if we can call these carts or wagons, neither seems appropriate for the elegance of the vehicles - looks like it came from years past although these are specifically designed to endure the rigorous marathon competition which goes through tight obstacle courses and over woods and even through ponds set up with obstacles. It was truly very interesting for me and I think any horse lover would appreciate the connection these drivers have with their equine athletes. It was breathtaking and quite an educational day. There were VIP areas set up with cocktails, shade and fabulous picnic baskets of food. I tried to find out about VIP tickets but had no success. This event seems to be geared to the competitors and hopefully will become more mainstream in the near future. It is now perpetually on my event calendar. Next year's competition will be held in Lexington with 2019 returning to Hermitage Farm which by the way has a $30 million dollar project underway which will turn this piece of heaven on earth into a food, bourbon and horse destination which will draw visitors from around the world. And I cannot end this review without mentioning Louisville's own Steve Wilson, owner of Hermitage Farm who is an Olympic level athlete in the sport and 3-time United States Equestrian Federation Pair Horse Driving National Champion! This is probably the longest review I have ever penned. If you stayed with me til the end I just want to say thanks!!!

We had a great tour, which included loads of trivia and interesting info, a delicious box lunch, and a bourbon tasting.

We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.

Quaint and in the heart of sweet Shelbyville! Don't know much about price range of renting the venue but it's worth checking into for any private party or quaint wedding!!! Down side to the location is finding it! But- once you do- it so neat and special!!! To the owners- you may want to paint the back door a funky bright color for parkers that park behind the venue to find the right entrance!! And painting the front door the same! We were a bit confused of where to get in... But that seems to be an easy fix!

Our event was indoors and offered a few table games as well (jenga, pool, connect 4). They had plenty of space for small groups to catch up, from open floor to seating areas. The only con during my visit was the strong smell associated with being at a lawn care/landscaping business. Private parking lot with plenty of spaces. The Greenhouse is located in an industrial setting, with a concrete business across the street.

We looked at a lot of nice places but we wanted to use Shack-in-the-Back for the food (another great place). I happened to come across the Greenhouse by accident on a Google search for venues. What a find. We met Marti to look at the space - downstairs is a fairly large, relaxed m, open-air space replete with lots of picnic tables, fire pits and games (putt-putt, large Jenna, Connect 4, etc). There was a covered area that sports a bar set-up and plenty of space for the catering. Two bathrooms and a space for prep work. A sound system you can Blue-tooth into and tv's to show videos. There is an upstairs area, very similar but inside. The two spaces are separate but, for a small fee, the Greenhouse will hold the upstairs in case of inclement weather - we did this. Marti was great. She help us thru the entire process, kept us informed and worked with us on getting everything ready for the party. We had a great time. Everything came together and everyone had great time. We received many compliments on the venue. And, another great thing, it's in the East End but only 20-25 minutes from anywhere. I highly recommend The Greenhouse at Zeppa for your next outing. Perfect for Birthdays, Family get together, Graduation and the like.

I spoke to a Fred who was so very sweet and nice. However, Glen likes to price gouge. He reminds me of a used car salesman and not a very nice one. Glen tells me that there is a large lighted dance floor that I will have to pay for to use. That was not there when I signed my contract and paid for the venue. So I told him that I did not want to use it and he proceeds to tell me that I either pay to rent it or pay to have it removed if I did not want to use it,. REALLY?? THEN, I pay Glen an extra $500 to rent the hall on Friday so I can setup for the wedding on Saturday. He then tells me that his assistant "accidentally" made a same day event for a wake on my Friday and instead of telling them that he made an error and give back their money, he tells me that he cant tell them to cancel because he would feel so bad cancelling on a wake. Guess what, it wasn't a wake after all, it was a birthday party!!! Yes I got my money back but the stress of it all and the lies, had me looking for other places to rent because if one ore thing happened... I was done. Luckily nothing happened on our wedding day but the months leading up to it were awful and stressful because of this DJ. He has a reputation, just ask around. lol He is also banned from the main Louisville KY wedding site on FB due to bad business practices. AVOID if you can. The venue is beautiful but not worth the added stress or the price gouging.
