I originally left a negative review about a very poor phone experience at this location. I want to update my review because Michelle, the manager, reached out to me personally. She was respectful, professional, and apologetic. She acknowledged the situation, shared that she is actively looking into it, and assured me that steps are being taken to improve customer service. I still feel the original experience should never have happened, especially when I was calling for an important occasion, but I appreciate that Michelle took the time to follow up and make it right. I asked the lady who was cutting my hair for a high taper fade and got something way different. each side had different lengths, the back was not lined up, i didnt get the full treatment. I live 1/4 mile from Lady Jane's in Garner and have always appreciated that they stayed open later than other salons in the area, weekdays it's posted that they close at 8pm. I have,for years, arrived at 7:45 to get my hair cut- after all it takes them all of 5 minutes . Very unhappy that I just went in and was hollered at from a lady who couldn't be bothered to look around from the computer to tell me they take their last appointment at 7:40. The window open sign was off and at least 4 employees inside. Unless this is a brand new policy it seems to me someone just wanted to go home early with no regard for business operating procedures. I have been a loyal customer for years and take pride in my ability to get along with most anyone but if you're going to take your last appointment at 7:40, maybe the signs and online presence should reflect the same. They could have cut my hair three times before time to close. So a $75 potential loss. Doesn't make sense to me?!? read more

Had a really nice experience here. My haircut came out really nice. Only concern I have is with the neck shave with the straight edge razor. So I usually go to Sports Clips and I get the Triple Play for $18. This includes a haircut, shampoo with massage, a little hair product and a $3 tip and I'm out the door for $21 Today I thought I would try Lady Jane's Men Haircuts. I notice that everybody is paying $32 and $39 so I start to panic. I read on the wall that a haircut is $15 and a shampoo is $2. So I get my stylist and sit down. Right in front of me is a menu of packages but no price. It also states all packages are up to the stylist and all sales are final. I made sure that she knew I only wanted the haircut and standard shampoo or I would have paid $32 to $39 after she was thru with me. I will stick with sports clips from now on. read more

My son and I had been going to this shop for the last year or so. We've been pretty happy with the cuts and service, until last week. The stylist cutting my hair (new one for me), started talking about her friend giving crackhead haircuts...not what I want to hear when I'm in the chair. She didn't say more than a few words to me the whole time, and just kept taking to her co-workers about crack head friends giving crack head cuts. Came in first cut since quarantine. Was incredibly excited. Conversation, everything started off well, until I noticed she was taking huge chunks out of my hair when I simply asked for an inch or so at the most so I could see how it looks as it develops. She butchered my hair. She seemed to be in some kind of rush because she kept trying to finish after I would point out the uneven spots where hair was visibly dropping down lower than other parts of my head. I look like a 4 year old girl got a hair cut from her incredibly unskilled father while he was holding a beer and watching the game. She asked if the manager could come over and help fix it but I simply said I would like to leave as soon as possible please. Paid my bill, drove to my buddies and used his clippers to shave my head. All of the original women have left the facility and quite a few have shared their personal experiences with me from working within this organization. Not only have the majority of the ladies left to find better opportunities but they are also not paid well. "Lady Jane's" is a great place to get your hair cut. Like most places you can make an appointment or walk in. I've been a couple times without an appointment, always on a busy weekend, and haven't waited longer than 10 minutes before I was in a chair. I went and got my hair cut on Thursday of last week. The lady that cut my hair cut my hair wanted to charge me an extra $5.00 to shave my head close with the box cutter shaver. I thought she was joking but she was serious. I had been in the same location back in August and the girl did not charge me for the same thing then. Also they changed their haircut price from $16.00 in August to $22.00 in September. They had raised their price for a haircut by $6.00 I still tipped the girl $4.00. Awful experience. I went to Lady Jane's because my regular girl was booked up and I was hoping for a decent haircut since my son has SCHOOL PICTURES this Friday. I told the girl that I kind of let my son choose what style works best for him. He wanted the ears and back cleaned up but to keep the length in the front. She did everything else fine. He never told her to shave his sideburns off. I could see him fighting back tears in the car after we pulled out. He burst out in tears and told me he hates it because he never told her to take them completely off. I honestly didn't think you have to tell a hairdresser NOT TO SHAVE OFF SIDEBURNS. I have literally never had to tell a hairdresser that in his entire 11.5 years of life. I have called LJ Garner and let them know of my frustrations. The manager offered to fix it and a free cut next time. He wants nothing to do with either. I can't blame him, we will NEVER be back. read more

The place is busy, even on a Tuesday morning. Similar to SportClips, but a somewhat more "garage" theme layout. You check yourself in at the PC in the front, which is probably a better option than pulling a stylist off a client to handle it. The shampoo chairs are poorly designed and leaning back there is a gap between the chair and sink. The quality is equivalent to the price paid; so for $14 you should not be expecting much. The stylist took her time, but I ended up with a too rounded style; which is a rookie mistake. It would seem more suited for kids simple cuts, but not a place where I would come back again. read more

I really really wanted Lady Jane's to work for me. I really wanted to give them a good review. I was next door one day and I stopped in. I asked the manager if any of their stylist knew how to do a flattop and she said yes with a tone that was close to offended I would even ask. I called before I went over and asked if anyone there knew how to do a flattop. I was assured they did. When I was called back I asked my stylist, "do you know how to do a flattop". She said absolutely. She then regaled me with a several minute diatribe about cutting hair near a military base that lead into a continuous one sided conversation about her. I haven't actually been around anyone tweaking on crystal meth in person but that was how I imagine it is like. As annoying as my 20 minutes with the tweaker was when I looked at my hair when she was done it wasn't flat on top. Maybe it is just me but if the hair style is called a flattop one would think at a minimum it should be flat on top. Three separate people from Lady Jane's assured me that they knew what they were doing. If you do not know how to do something just tell me. I will make an informed decision from there. read more

If you have ever wonder what it was like to get your hair buzzed when joining the US Army, then this is your place. Once I sat down in the chair my head was attacked with an electric clipper, I felt like a sheep being sheared. Probably the most embarrassing & demeaning experience I've ever had in seeking a hair cut. For the twenty minutes I was in the chair the 'hair buzzer' (I dare not say stylist) maybe had a comb & scissors in her hands for about two minutes. The price may seem cheap at $16 but that comes to $54 an hour. The big metro area I moved from charged $40 an hour and the stylist had a comb & scissors in her hands for fifty of those sixty minutes. That visit was my first & last. My search for a competent & professional stylist in the Raleigh area, continues. read more

However, their prices remained the same. I saw this store was opening and I gave it a try this past weekend. Anytime you try a new place, you expect to experience a bit of "growing pains" but it couldn't have been further from the truth. The shop was clean. The staff was friendly. My stylist, Sarah, was courteous and very friendly. And on top of that she did a great job with my hair. The prices are great and they have some great additional offerings. I used to be so excited to have a place to get a good haircut that was inexpensive, no longer. Today I experienced the most improfessional working environment ever. To start with, I have never in my life had my hair scissor cut dry. As soon as she started cutting, I had hair all over my face. I can only imagine she was distracted as next, she forgot to trim one eyebrow and I had to remind her. I say that because the whole time I was getting my hair cut, the stylist beside us had a man in her chair, her husband next to him and their young child using the blow dryer and blowing hair all over the place from the floor. He also used it to blow up my stylists skirt inadvertently. I am reall glad she didn't have that straight razor on my neck. I understand being forgetful, and can even overlook that, but I will never return to such a non professional working environment as what I witnessed today. OK, I had high hopes for this place and went back several times in hopes that my experience would improve. First off, I'm not picky, I just want a decent haircut. Two of my experiences were with rushed haircuts and not having the instructions listened to. I had to repeat several times throughout the cut how short to cut my hair. At the end it still wasn't short enough and had to once again explain the length I wanted. A #2 is all I want! Lol I even had to go somewhere else after one cut, to get it right. But it's close, convenient and I finally found someone who was really great there. Now today I go in and check in, choose my stylist and sit down. After waiting about 30 minutes I see her come up, look at the computer and then leaves for another 10 minutes or so. When she comes back, she again looks at the computer and calls someone else who had been there about 10 minutes, while I had been there almost an hour. I walked out.
