Very funny! We entered through the back door, up the back staircase so I actually never saw the main entrance or lobby. The place hold about 350 for plays and we had an excellent view. The sound was very good. Seats were pretty comfortable. So this is called an Opera House but that actually goes back in 1897 when it was built when all music halls and gathering places were called opera houses. Luckily for the town, the place was restored to it's original form in 1981. Great benefit to the community. Now I'll be checking their schedule for their future offerings which I know include at least play and concerts. 2021-196

It's a sleek model looking building. The theater itself has 250 comfortable seats and wide aisles. The slope is perfect for views from any seat. The sound seemed very good. You currently need to go to the main Canterbury Woods website to find the calendar of events for the Performing Arts Center. But well worth the effort. For this play our seats were on the very top balcony. This means 4 flights of stairs!. Ha ha, you better be in shape for that walk. It was high up but ee actually had a perfect view of the stage. Shea's is celebrating it's 100 birthday and up until this point has had no elevators. They're now in the process of adding an addition which will include elevators. Since it's an addition it won't take away from the original charm of the building. If somehow you live in the Buffalo area and have never been to Shea's you really need to check it out. At 6 the doors were finally opened to sit down and hear about the season. It is now 6:15. The organ is still playing; there is no evidence of someone coming out to talk about the '26-'27 season. There are vendors in the lobby, selling beer, water, wine, popcorn. Nothing complimentary. 6:32 and the first speakers have appeared. Very disorganized. The presentation was a bit lengthy, but very nice. Each of the seven shows in the subscriber series was introduced. Guest artists performed songs from two musicals in the subscription: "Sound of Music" and "The Great Gatsby". There are three additional shows which are not part of the subscription, but to which subscribers can purchase tickets ahead of the general public. The presentation lasted about an hour.

From what we saw the show was great, the illusions were incredible and unlike cases where the tricks are obvious, there were some amazing illusions that had us questioning how that was possible. Two magicians performed and it was very cool to watch. My husband was even able to participate before we left. The one downside I would note is that this is a child friendly show, which isn't a problem, except you may be put at a table with young children. When sat we were put next to each other causing a party of five to be across from us, they sat the young children at the end of the table, so they could see understandably, but they sat parents down at the opposite end. The family was very respectful, but if you are not a children person, this may not be the environment for you. Over all great show! I wish I wasn't exhausted and could have stayed for the whole thing!

When we started to think we knew what was happening, he had a unique twist that surprised us. They incorporate animals into the show and we loved that. Overall, 3 adults and 2 teens were captivated. We didn't eat there but feedback from the table was that the food was "meh". We did get some mocktails and were surprised by affordable pricing. We wished there were some desserts to order. Note: If you have a WEGO pass, it's off the blue line by the Howard Johnson's stop. Parking was still advertised as "free" if you had tickets to the show so we parked there earlier in the day. **It is not**. We were told by the attendant that it is $5 cash/$6 card with tickets (still reasonable for the area). Free ended 2 months ago and to take it up inside. I did and they confirmed it ended. I sent an email with the info from their site that says it's free still and they said they would take that down and did offer a refund if I called.

Tuesday nights is country line dancing with beginner lessons at 6PM, intermediate at 6:30PM, and dancing until 9/10 cost $10. My husband and I went for the first time this week. There were about 25 women of all ages in attendance. My husband and I did well with the beginner program, and stumbled through the 88!!! count intermediate program before deciding we needed to watch the You Tube video a few more times at home for that level. The group is very welcoming to newcomers, there are snack bags and water for sale or you can bring your own. I am definitely going back, and to Paula's other class at The Cove on Thursdays, as this will not defeat me. I think the Tuesday evening, and a 1st Saturday country dancing program are the only two regular events at Dry Gulch.

The Dance Workshop is an amazing dance studio and I have been dancing there since I was 5 and I…read morelove it. I love all the teachers and all the friendly people. It is so fun to dance there and this dance studio has made my dream become a reality. These people helped me become a better person and a better dancer, they taught me some of my very first skills like a backbend and a roundoff. I absolutely love this place. I practically grew up here. The Dance Workshop is basically my second home, and I love it. I will continue dancing here until I can't anymore. The recitals and classes are so much fun and everyone there is so understanding and fun. It is an amazing place with amazing people and amazing talent. I have been dancing for a long time now and have been doing contortion for two years and cheerleading for one. Dancing will forever be my favorite thing and will always be my number one thing. Even when I grow up and do bigger better things I will never forget my first passion and the people and place that got me there. I love it so much and can't express all my love for it in one review. Well when i picked up the kids they said she wouldn't give them Morgans shoes she said the shoes were hers that they never had shoes.I was so mad who would send kids to dancing with no shoes ( NOT ME ).Well she would not even listen she just kept saying they were her shoes and they had shoes so why did i want them anyway...to take them back to the consignment store to sell and if she found Julian's black would be better than tan!! They have a couple of pre-sale ticket locations but being from out of town I can not access those sites easily. I do wish they had online sales for convenience but there has always been tickets available at the door so I don't stress out about it. Before the show you can peruse through giant scrap books with past shows and other theater information. It is cool to be able to look through a troupes history. Enjoy a snack any time as refreshments are sold before and during intermission. Just follow theater etiquette and try to keep the wrapper rustling to a minimum. Their home is in the Sheridan Parkside Community center which is an old school. The only slight flaw is that the seats are less than ideal due to the age of the facilities, but they are currently raising money to renovate the seating so I expect that issue to be resolved in the coming year. I believe all shows run two weekends at least and they often offer dinner theater on opening night of some shows. The acting is supurb, the sets are stellar and it has always been a great night of entertainment. I encourage you to support Towne Players, support your community and support the arts. It is worth it!

I've been trying to get into seeing more theater lately, and my visit has only confirmed my thirst…read more It had been about a decade since I visited to see Peter Pan, which I had recalled mostly fondly, so I texted a friend and bought tickets for the show. We arrived about half an hour early after stopping at Lake Effect for scoops. Who needs dinner and a show when tummy ice cream is involved? The theater also sells snacks as food and drinks from the outside are banned. We were greeted outside by a dapper gentleman who held the door for us to get into the lobby. Unlike other theaters, there was elbow room to have them check out printed tickets and make conversation about the show. Others had digital tickets that seemed to work as well. We popped into the loo, which thankfully had multiple stalls, hardly any wait and was fully stocked with soap and towels. There were people selling souvenir toys and raffle tickets that we bypassed to find our seats. The playbill girl gave us a rough estimate of where we would be located. Thankfully everything is clearly labeled as to not get lost. For a mere 40 each, after fees, we were five rows back, centered. The view was clear, the sound was clear and the leg room- my gosh. For the first time in a long time a theater had room for me to stretch my legs a bit instead of cramming in more seats. The view is historically gorgeous in architecture and paint. Though we were there to experience the show, not just a building. The show started on time, held a brief intermission and concluded in about two hours. During that time, we got wowed by talented singers, very acrobatic dancers and mostly talented actors. (There was one that we would have probably chosen a different person to portray the roll, but I'm not going to crush a child's dreams when they did adequately. And others filled their rolls amazingly so I'm chalking it up to personal preference.) The costumes are well constructed without being extravagant. Tiny shorts cover any areas that would make this child friendly show receive an R rating. At the end, after all the standing ovations, we were able to exit with ease and get back to the car, parked at no cost in a nearby lot. Beat that Buffalo parking. Extra shout-out to whoever put the dual drummers in the loge to let us see the masterminds at work. They were the heartbeat of the show for me!
