It is a bright and spacious coffee house, obviously very popular with the Western University students. They also have sandwiches, which I did not try, but they have a good selection. B served me, and she was friendly and efficient. They make their own doughnuts and loaves. I got an apple doughnut. It was filled with apple filling, some cinnamon icing on top, and it was fresh and not heavy. As a tourist, I appreciated not feeling rushed. A very pleasant place to have a coffee and pastry, even if you're not a student.

In terms of the permanent ones, I got the OG sprinkle and the apple fritter, which are my go-tos at donut shops. They were incredible. The donuts are massive, fresh, soft, and are bursting with flavour. They're the perfect treat. The rotating menu options I tried were equally as great. If you're someone who has a sweet tooth, you will definitely not be disappointed in their options. Might have been because both in London and in Toronto at the CNE there were fatalities on it. Why am I drudging this up you ask? Well because of mini-donuts that's why. Follow my crazy train of thought here.. but there are certain foods that envoke that nostalgia of the fair: candy apples, cotton candy, mini-donuts, pogos & cheese on a stick. Other than the last two the Donut Diva Food truck has you covered as she offers a variety of 40 different sugary flavours to add onto your mini donuts including: Key Lime, Candy Apple, Coffee Crisp, Cinnamon Bun, Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Raspberry... to name a few. She is normally in Sarnia Ont, but has graced London with her presence this summer to bring the sugary snack to our neck of the woods. She's downtown mostly, look up her facebook for daily locations, at some events going on and also at the Masonville Farmers Markets on Fridays. Until today she as alluded me but I caught the truck on Pall Mall street and had to give it a whirl. For my inaugural taste test of course traditional cinnamon had to happen. After all that is to donuts as chicken fingers & ceaser salad is to a good greasy spoon diner. It's a litmus test. If you screw that up, nothing is gonna go right on the menu. If you do it right... this is the place to be. They did not disappoint. If you eat them fresh you get that awesome sort of outside crunch, sweet melt in your mouth funnel cake texture inside and a pop of cinnamon sugar to die for. I appreciate also that they aren't overly greasy or over sugared where the bottom of the bag is coated in topping. I also went for the Salted Caramel and was astonished how much it actually tasted like that. I will definitely try to catch her again sometime while she is here and possibly if ever up Sarnia way, if she decides to go back... of course, we could just support her truck and make her never want to go back ;) Is kidnapping out of the question? The first impression of décor and display, it is clean, intentional, thoughtful and cozy. We perused the menu and I decided on the fig and cheese croissant, accompanied by an espresso martini. We found our seats at a table and I could not take my eyes off the artistic desserts on display. One in particular was a tree ornament, made of cake, it was shiny and beautiful, almost too pretty too eat. Almost. My only regret is that I didn't enjoy one, but I was too full after lunch. Our meals were delivered to our table and even though I wasn't very hungry when we arrived, the look and smell of the food fueled my appetite. My croissant creation was filled with fresh ingredients and the decadent combination of savory and sweet hit the spot. The espresso martini was wonderful, even my picky husband liked it. To our delight, we had the opportunity to meet the owners, a husband and wife team. Both very stylish, with warm smiles and welcoming conversation. The wife is the pastry chef, I had to wonder if she ever had time to sleep considering the array of beautiful desserts on display and what it must take to perfect them, individually. The gentleman watching over the deli section offered me a sample of jalapeno cucumber lemonade. Too curious to pass up - it was pretty good. Refreshing with a hint of spicy after bite. Lemonades and/or iced tea will be drinks on offer this summer. Switched my gaze over to the pastry counter and several things caught my eye. I ended up with an apple fritter and an old fashioned cream donut. I ate both the next day and they were still fresh tasting and delicious. Fritter was dense and moist. Donut had a nice light sweetness. I also picked up a frozen meat pie, chicken mushroom and leek. That is still waiting to be served. All in all, this location remains good for baked goods, bread, deli and frozen meals.

The girl at the counter was happy to explain all the different varieties but we couldnt resist the cheese, sauce, and meat that was waiting inside this thing. She heat it up for a little bit and also prepared us some wonderful Angry Alpaca tea (if you haven't tried this stuff yet, do yourself a favour and get some. It's local tea and it tastes AMAZING!). I loved the flavour of the pizza bagel bomb. They put some nice spices on top and the fillings weren't your typical mozzarella and pepperoni. I believe capicola and provolone as well? It was the perfect little pick me up since we didnt want a big lunch. The bakery was consistently busy! There was always someone at the counter but the service is quick.
